Daddy Mac’s Beach Grille provides an island-​style dining experience with oceanfront views. Sit, relax, and enjoy a cold drink on the outside deck while taking in the ocean views and salt air. Leet our friendly and courteous staff take care of all your dining needs. The menu at Daddy Mac’s offer something for everyone. From our fresh seafood to our hand carved steaks, everyone will find something to enjoy. We offer a full bar with great speciality drinks and a seasonal wine list. The entire is welcome, dress is beach casual… flip flop’s welcome.

History

Established in 2004.

We are a family owned business. We have been in the restaurant business since 1980. We have called Topsail Island our home since 1994, we fell in love with the beautiful beaches and the laid back atmosphere of the island. Being year round residents, we stay open year round. We try to source most of our seafood from local fisherman and work with local growers to supply fresh produce. Our food is simple and delicious, we make everything from scratch. Please stop by, the whole family is welcome, kid’s included.

Family run business on Topsail Island since 1993. We enjoy everything the island has to offer, especially it’s pristine waters full of delicious local seafood. Since my family and friends dine with us often, we treat every customer the same. Grew up in the restaurant business, father owned one in Baltimore City for year, so yes, our crabcakes are true Maryland-​style. I enjoy the people and being out in the dining room. Please feel free to ask for me anytime you dine with us.

The view alone is worth the visit — the wait is due to the excellent service and fresh, delicious seafood.
My server was Billy. I had looked over the many tempting choices but he had me at Fresh Wahoo special. Bread was promptly delivered as was the Caesar salad– both thumbs up.
The wahoo was fresh and delicious– perfect with the coconut curry sauce– not overly spivey but with a pleasant kick.
After I sat on the patio and gazed at the ocean. Bliss.

Our party ordered soft shell crab sandwich, burger, and oyster po boy. We all were happy with our food. We also had Bloody Mary and the mojito. I think the Bloody Mary was on the salty side but not bad. Overall a good experience and a good view!

I give 3 stars not for the food, but for our server and the bartender. The drinks are great and teh service was fantastic, but the food seemed to lack that coastal punch. There were 6 of us and only one of the dishes, IMO, was above average. It was called a Jambalaya. I know what Jambalaya is… and the dish was good, but it was closer to a creole dish and very little rice. I might recommend this place for a beach sandwich lunch, but the dinner menu was a swing and a miss.

Yes it is that good, we even asked for the recipe but they said no :(.
Garret our waiter was really upbeat, attentive & on it. I loved that all of the staff in his section were taking turns making sure that we were doing okay. Always refilling our waters, which is necessary on a hot beach day.
Our margaritas were exactly what we needed as the cherry on top of our beautiful spot on the beach front deck. ! !!!Bring Sunglasses!!!
I had the Mahi tacos with sweet potato fries & boyfriend had the Crab Avocado Salad… The salad was my favorite but both were excellent.
After we finished up our meal we ordered one last margarita & took advantage of the rocking chairs overlooking the beach. This was an awesome way to end an excellent lunch.

Fantastic!
We are so glad we picked this spot for lunch. A beautiful view of the beach is included with the delicious food. A Great family, reading, friends, date night spot.
The Crab Dip and Crab Avocado salad puts Maryland crab entrées to shame.
The management is very personable and pride themselves in taking care of their customers. The waitstaff are all young but professional. Don’t forget to support their college educations and tip accordingly!

Awesome lunch. We were seated quickly. We sat on the ocean front deck. Service was sublime. Our server had our drink orders to us quickly. I had a nice dogfish 90 minute IPA. The beer selection was great.
The prices seemed high at first glance but when our plates arrived I saw why. The burgers were huge. I ordered the firehouse burger, French fries and fried green tomatoes. I was slightly disappointed when the fried tomatoes arrived with no dipping sauce but again I was pleasantly surprised. They were so well cooked and seasoned it would have been a travesty to dip them. The menu said my burger came with Chipotle. I assumed some kind of sauce but no the burger was stuffed with whole Chipotles in adobo sauce. Wow
The wife’s taco salad came with chicken breast that was cooked to perfection. The kids had the quesadilla which was almost an inch thick stuffed with chicken and veggies.
I will be back again and again. I have added some pics of our plates.

This place has a great view, right in front of the beach. Service was great, friendly and was quick to our needs. I have to give it stars because the burger that I got was honestly not as good as a burger you’d get from cookout, it didn’t taste like it was seasoned at all. Not to mention the fact that some of the items on the menu are pretty overpriced. Seven bucks for an appetizer of three chicken tenders? That’s pretty insane.

Nice beach town restaurant with outdoor seating. Sweet potato fries are bomb here! Crab avocado salad was great and so were the fish tacos. Nothing super fancy but a great place to go after a day of playing in the water and reasonably priced.

The food was good, there is a nice view of the ocean (Atlantic) from the deck, and the waitperson was friendly. The portions are good, and the desserts were large and tasty. We were impressed with the lime torte and the chocolate cake.

It’s a great location. Right on the water with a perfect ocean view. You can’t go wrong coming here for a drink and an app.
Ordering full meals is debatable. The burger was flat out horrible. It was a gray, over cooked patty, without an ounce of seasoning or juiciness. Never a good sign when they don’t ask how you’d like it cooked. But they are not even trying with this burger, it’s that bad. I think the owner needs to secretly order one and try it. A good burger is a key item anywhere. This could be fixed so easily.
The shrimp and scallop pasta. This was basically noodles swimming in a broth with some mushy green peppers. No flavor, decent quality seafood, and as I mentioned swimming in a boring broth. It felt more like a bland seafood noodle soup.
The 2 stars are for the service. Our server did his job very well.

We had a fantastic anniversary dinner at Daddy Mac’s tonight! Although we opted to eat inside because of the rain, the view out the window was amazing and set a lovely scene for our special night. Connor was our waiter and he was great! He gave us suggestions and answered our questions easily. He did recommend the Godiva Chocolate Cake for dessert, but it turned out that they had run out of it, so he offered us other options and we ended up with the Chocolate Trifle instead — glass of milk and cup of coffee too! Our appetizer of onion strings was perfect, they are one of my favorites, and Daddy Mac’s did them right! For dinner, thIs Maryland girl got the MD style crab cakes with a cup of crab corn chowder and the home style mashed potatoes; the crab cake was very flavorful and delicious, not quite as good as home, but a solid effort! The crab corn chowder was also delicious and the mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy just as I like them. My husband had the seafood special of a salmon steak with a shrimp skewer and chimichurri sauce; he had the mixed veggies and a cup of the chowder, as well. The salmon was cooked well, tender and juicy and the shrimp, in particular, paired well with the chimichurri sauce. The mixed zucchini and squash were sautéed perfectly and were a great compliment to his meal. Overall, we were delighted with our anniversary dinner and although this was our first visit to Daddy Mac’s it will surely not be our last!

This place has rude staff. The manager assumed that my wife drank one of my friends drinks being underage and that wasn’t the case at all. He took the drink that my friend paid for away and charged him for it. No one at any time underage drank a alcoholic drink. Will not be returning here. Fast food at high dollar prices. They could of handled the situation a lot better. A lot more professional then they did. I know the NC laws for underage drinking at a restaurant. I’m smart enough not to let my wife drink my friends beer or any alcohol while underage. And for them to accuse me of being ignorant for it. When it never happened is sad. I hope others have a better experience. Just don’t order any alcoholic drinks with a minor sitting at the table and you should be fine.

When we are on Topsail Island, we always go to Daddy Mac’s at least once, if not twice during our stay.
We have had Billy (the best server there) a few times…
Last night they were crowded as usual, so we got a drink, and headed for the chairs on the deck.
Once we were finally seated at our table, we ordered the specials, mine was Mahi-​Mahi, the wife ordered a NY Strip, covered with crab & blue cheese.
The steak was TERRIBLE.
It was full of gristle and fat.
We showed it to Billy, he took it to the chef.
We saw him & the manager talking, and so when we got our check, we were shocked that it still had the steak on the bill.
We asked to speak with the manager, and he said, we are only going to take $ 10 off for the steak.
I was SHOCKED… please tell me why I would only want to pay LESS for a bad meal???

I really enjoyed this place. The best part it the patio and the amazing view. We only came for drinks and my martini was perfect my husband had a beer. The only think that we didn’t like that they did not have tap beer besides that we enjoyed our time and view.

Gorgeous day today! Early lunch with my baby girl. You can’t beat the Mexican Chicken Salad and you can’t beat the view! I’ll tell you what you can beat, the darn bugs out there on the patio, lol. Spring is springing I guess. Didn’t let them ruin our lovely time though!

Lobster bisque was insane. The portions were beyond what I was anticipating and the view off of the patio is unmatched in the city.
I traveled from Minneapolis to this area for a wedding and now I look forward to going back.

So, expect a wait. Especially during peak season. but that being said, worth the wait. We had a party of 9 and went on a Wednesday a little after 6 and had a little over an hour wait. One great feature, they will text you when your table is ready! Why don’t more restaurants do this?! We were fortunate enough to sit on the deck and the weather was perfect. The ambiance is fantastic and the service was really, really good. Our server was polite, cheerful and helpful.
For an appetizer we got the fried calamari and jumbo shrimp… it was amazing. The calamari was large and perfectly cooked. The sauce was one of the better I’ve had. Huge fan of calamari and they got it right.
I got the surf and turf special which was a NY Strip and lump crab cake with 3 grilled shrimp. The steak was cooked medium rare perfectly and seasoned just right. I can be a snob when it comes to steaks and this one was very good. The crab cake was fantastic. Great flavor, great texture, it went perfectly with the steak. The shrimp were fine, nothing special, but grilled right. As a side I had the mashed potatoes which were good and a side salad.
Everyone enjoyed their meals and there were no complaints. My brother in law got the same meal I did and remarked that it was one of the better steaks he’s had. My dad got the large fried seafood platter and said while it tasted amazing, he couldn’t finish it. It was a huge portion for sure. A little odd as they don’t have a version of hush puppies. but trust me, you’ll be fine. Between the setting, the service and the food. gotta try it while staying on Topsail.
