I read a review for this place that side the staff had no personality, I couldn’t disagree more with that review. the moment I walked in greeted by a big smile and a could I help you please! the service was awesome, in a cannoli was even better. ended up getting Italian cookies, a rum cake and I got my grandsons 2 Christmas cookies. I live in Mesa 48 mile drive I will come back.

We drive 15 Miles here just for the desserts. Wonderful cannoli! I got my boyfriend some and now he is more addicted than I am. The only thing I don’t like are the sugar cookies!

As a transplanted New Yorker, I can attest that the goods are delicious and authentic. The prices are high for this area of the country, but that’s O.K. because you get what you pay for. My only complaint is that the older lady who either owns the place or acts like she owns the place, is never in a good mood and acts like she’s doing you a favor by getting your order. Try getting one of the younger«girls» who seem sharp, quick, and pleasant.

Worse sandwich I have ever had in my life. I couldn’t chew the meat. It was worse then bubble gum. The bread was rock hard. The service is horrible. Everyone looks like they hate there job and heaven forbid they actually smile. One lady even asked a customer what do you want. No how can I help you. Sad that these small businesses don’t know anything about customer service. Definitely will never recommend this place.

Visiting from East Coast & ordered cannoli cake and some pastries for Bday dinner. Everything was delicious & beautifully presented. The family really enjoyed the goodies. Only downside… the shop is challenging to locate.

My wife is Italian and for her Birthday I thought it would be great to get her something really special. I have to say that the whole experience here was wonderful. The girls were very nice and helpful. The must have read the other reviews and got their act together because I was very impressed. I got two cannolis, two lobster tails and two Amaretto Cheesecake Ice cream cones. To say my wife was very happy would be a huge understatement. It’s all she talks about now. I also got lunch while I was there and the sandwiches were awesome too. I could see where if you were in a hurry you could have a problem so maybe call ahead to have your lunch order ready when you get there. The selection of pre-made ravioli, pizzas and other items is pretty good too. No time to cook? Stop in and pick up dinner while you’re there! This is a great bakery and I will be back many, many times!

Tried and tried again… but always disappointed starting from the service to the hard old cookies. My last visit today I got home and opened my box and found an assortment of cookies I didn’t ask for. I called the store and she apologized and just said there’s nothing they could do because they were a small bakery so no credit. Huh? I just paid over $ 10 for not only the wrong cookies but my company said they were so hard … They were supposed to be soft butter cookies! Well too many bad visits so this was my last.

This place is so good!!! Best Italian bakery on the west coast. The pastries are to die for. The cherry cheesecake was the best! I’d recommend that for sure. The customer service there is amazing. They make you feel at home and are informative on their baked goods. The smell is so good in there. Makes you just wanna stay there and eat every pastry in there. Will definitely go there a lot more now! Forgot to mention, the pit your order in a cute little box and even tie it with string! Just like Italy!

One star? More like a «no star» rating for this establishment. My mother asked me to take her there one day since she loves buying things for herself and her grandchildren. Came in and immediately felt like it was the bakery«nazi,»(I really apologize for using this term, but he seems to fit the profile). So my mother started give him her order and all the while sounded like a drill sergeant who hasn’t had their morning coffee. He was very rude to my mother and I couldn’t contain myself any longer and gave him a piece of my mind. I told my mother to forget it and leave, but she really wanted to bring some things for her grandchildren. The man, apparently the owner, and phyllis from jim’s burger and eggs, are a match made in heaven. Anyway, this incident at this bakery happened a few years ago and decided to write this review just now because my wife saw this bakery doing some promos on «Surprise Matters.»

So far the best pastries that we’ve tried. Prices aren’t bad, considering you can’t find these pastries everywhere. Definitely will be stoping by again. Everyone working there was very helpful and friendly.

People are nice, subs are good, worst doughnuts i have ever had… they are flat, dry and lack of flavor. Drove to bashes after going there so i could get a good doughnut

My parents recently moved to the Surprise area and discovered this spot. After I ate just about all of the mini cannolis that they had purchased, I had to stop in on my own and pick up some treats. The mini cheese cakes are probably my favorite. Rich but crustless and full of flavor. The cannolis are delicious. Their cakes are wonderful. I really don’t think that you can go wrong with anything you choose here. It is an authentic Italian Bakery through and through. They have so many options, that I need to go back and try more the next time I am headed west. :) This place is absolutely worth stopping for if you are ever nearby.

I stopped in with my 3 young children for the first time. I was the only customer in the place, the front counter lady did not smile. The first thing she said was to make sure my kids don’t touch the glass because it was just cleaned. She followed me around the store and then after my kids decided what they wanted we left. The desserts we picked were not very good. We will forever stick with New York West bakery they are by far the best in customer service and best pastries!

Though I’m not big on pastries the éclairs are very delicious. I come here mainly for the sandwiches which blow away your typical national sub chains. The café is clean but has no public restrooms.

They have gluten free cookies and cheesecake. The cheese cake has no crust which hopefully they will create one gluten free. Being such a yummy Bakery it would be a breeze for them. Friends bought some desserts home for a get together. Will have to stop by soon with husband and check them out.

The counter people were pretty friendly. The food was really delicious. I was surprised when I got my food and happy when I finished. Those desserts… Those cannolis were… FABULOUS! I would definitely go back if I’m ever in Surprise. One thing though. Maybe make room for some more tables!

I posted on Facebook looking for suggestions for a good bakery. I live in Surprise(a native NYer). As soon as more than one person mentioned«My Daddy’s,» I decided it was the place to try, along with my son. Nice little place, they had a good selection of amazing looking baked goods and the cases were well-stocked, despite the fact I went closer to closing. As soon as I saw black & white half moon cookies, I’m sure I had a big old smile on my face. I purchased a steak sandwich and a B&W cookie. My son wanted a nut brownie and a maple long john. I caught them on an off time for sure and I could sense that, that’s why although the wait time for my sandwich was very long, the staff couldn’t keep track of who they helped and who was next and the service was not super friendly… I felt this was not the norm, so for that, I give them the benefit of the doubt. That brings us to the taste /quality and freshness… well, I can happily report that the sandwich, though a little sodium rich, was still very good. The bread was delicious. I just tasted the B&W cookie, which was admittedly what I was looking for in the first place and it was excellent. I’m wishing I brought home a couple more. I have been to places in which the chocolate side was inferior to the white side, but both were equally good. My son said it was the best donut and brownie he ever had… what else do I need to say? He’s happy, I’m happy. Will definitely return since it’s highly unlikely I can do better in the NW Valley, to my memory, a bit better than Baker Wee. Enjoy!

The Real Deal… A taste of NYC in Surprise The staff at My Daddy’s Café are warm, friendly, and inviting to everyone that walks in the store even when the lines are out the door. This Bakery reminds me of back home in Brooklyn. My Daddys bakery has all the hard to find Italian pastries. The Napoleones, Canolis, butter cookies, and crumb cakes are the best. Nothing tops their rainbow cookies and my all time favorite Marzipan Princess Slices. In addition to pastries this bakery offers sandwiches and take home pasta dishes. I tried the meatballs and gravy and it was delicious. The gravy tastes like my grandma made back home in Brooklyn. Give this bakery a try, you won’t be disappointed and you will leave with a smile on your face.
