Fantastic hotel! Friendly staff, great bar and restaurant, comfy beds, Direct TV. Our two boys loved the kids menu and we can’t wait to stay again.

Tuesday night is Trivia Night at 6 p.m. in The Cellar bar. If you’re hungry you can order from the full menu down there, too. About that menu: I like the variety and the food quality is superb but selfishly, as a local, I wish they’d change it up occasionally. That said, the burgers, the naan with chicken & basil, the meat and cheese plate, and (mmmm mmmm good) the macaroni and cheese, and the brownie with ice cream are A++++ super duper.

Okay so the $ 15 Bleu Cheese Wedge Salads on the menu? WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY. In town for the weekend, me and my hubby came back both nights just for this salad. It was screaming good.

Went for a triple birthday tonight. Almost all from out of town, however most grew up or lived here at some point. My steak was overdone. Not to fear, the wait staff replaced it and made everything to my expectations while keeping my wine glass full. The service (waitress and manager on duty) were impeccable. Thank you so much. I highly recommend this gem of in town for dinner– or lunch– one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! –Tina

Fabulous place to dine and experience peaceful ambiance in this exquisite historic hotel. The food was delicious, some of the best I have had. The smoked chicken club was amazing. Fresh and delicious. The tenderness and flavor was impressive. Exquisitely freshly prepared food is a treat. There is plenty to see and do in this charming gold country town.

First time staying at the hotel, but Deserae at the bar is awesome. Great bartender and great attitude. Definitely will come here again.

Had a wonderful dinner here last weekend. Staff was friendly, food was reasonably priced for the quality. Take a drive up, do some wine tasting and stay for dinner. You won’t be disappointed.

This historical little hotel is right next to all the fun shops and their service is excellent! The staff was very kind to us, the rooms were beautiful, and the hotel restaurant has great food! We will be sure to go back if we stay in Sutter Creek again.

We had a fantastic meal here. The calamari was so tender, some of the best I have ever had. They made their own citrus-​y aoli and cocktail sauce. And what a generous portion! We also had the seafood pasta special, which was outstanding, as well as the quinoa salad. Had a wonderful server and pleasant ambiance. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend and was blown away by the charm of this historic hotel, and the excellence and friendly service of its staff. A Special Thanks to Laurie who went above and beyond to help us with a minor issue that came up — she was helpful, thoughtful, and highly professional. We will definitely stay here in the future and will recommend Hotel Sutter to any friends and family coming to gold country.

Was picking up an order in Amador City but wanted to have lunch close by. Found the Sutter Hotel in Sutter Creek to have patrons, while the rest of the town was empty or closed. Being a vegetarian away from major cities can be a challenge but my order of Mac & Cheese was a hit. And this was a «starter» that was perfect for lunch. My friend had the pot pie and she loved it. The dining area is very clean, food presentation and service was top notch, and the prices are very reasonable. I will absolutely return but I’m thinking a nice dinner with my hubby. The hotel looks nice, spoke to a lady there that said it’s very cozy, updated and folks find it relaxing! Maybe next time. If you are in the Sutter Creek area… you must stop by here for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. But don’t miss the darling quaint town of Amador City for shopping. Cool finds, pleasant stroll.

I recently stayed here for my friends’ wedding. The rooms were very clean and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The prices for rooms were reasonable. I stayed in a good size room with a queen size bed. Everything here is very quaint and the town is amazing. The bathrooms were spotless and had very high quality sinks and showers, which was great. The restaurant and bar (The Cellar) had reasonably priced food and drinks. Everything was of excellent quality. I would definitely come here again as I had a great experience. I would also recommend this hotel to friends or family.

New direction in the kitchen led me to a ribeye steak as good as 21 Club in Manhattan. Friendly service and a welcoming bar made this a terrific dining experience.

Love this town. The hotel is right in the thick of dining and shopping. The room was cozy and characterful.
We are in the open air restaurant in the hotel. A little pricey but delicious and creative dishes.
The bartender was awesome! We asked for moscato which he provided along with a sample of Muscat from a local winery. We loved it and he offered to get us that and not charge for the wine he already poured.
Only negative was garbage truck in the alley outside our room making a long loud racket pretty early. Not the hotel fault but will be sure to ask for non alley room next time

Located about 30 miles from Placerville you will find one of THEE coolest places to wine taste and have a great weekend. Sutter Creek is a hidden gem of a place and I can’t wait to go back and visit.
The room was tiny, like… small bedroom tiny. The bed was a double so it was very cramped. The walls are paper thin. You can literally hear your neighbors conversation. Those are my only complaints. There are so many positives to this place that I can’t wait to return next Labor Day Weekend. Yes folks this is one of my favorite places to stay. Keep reading…
When you walk into the lobby you are greeted with hard wood floors, iced orange water and service so friendly you wonder what you did to deserve it. Check in and out at this place is the easiest thing ever. I wish they could write the handbook on how to check a guest in. Once in the lobby you can turn right and enter into a beautiful bar area that has a friendly and eager to please bartender with lots of tables and outdoor window seating or you can turn left into the finer but casual dining establishment that has such yummies as fried brussel sprouts with bacon appetizer, shrimp scampi over pasta, steak, crab cakes and much much more.
The room was very clean. It was tiny. When I say tiny I am not exaggerating at all. It is definitely cozy. The bed, albeit small, was cozy. The bathroom had recently been updated and was actually pretty nice. The only other complaint I have is the damn pigeons that have taken over the roof area of the place. They were so annoying and always around to wake you up in the middle of the night.
Below the hotel is a basement bar/​lounge called The Cellar. We had been here before and just like last time it was so über cool with great service and an awesome vibe. If you want to get away and go wine tasting without the pretentious bullshit of Napa with friendly service and a memorable time make sure you go to Sutter Creek and stay at the Hotel Sutter. I would pay the extra $$ and stay in a bigger room with a bigger bed though.

Stayed here for my sister in laws wedding. It’s great, nice and comfortable, and the beds are awesome, laurie R. At the front desk is so nice, and helpful!

The iron find steak was very tasty with its garlic butter time. Enjoyed the sautéed carrots and beans but the mashed potatoes was a little chunky with some pieces of potatoes. Overall, I enjoyed the food and really loved the sidewalk full-​open window dinning.

Charged for the full stay in spite of the fact that I canceled my reservation well before their 24 hour cancelation limit. Waiting to be called back by a manager.

Here’s a spot for great food and wine. The menu offers an abundance of tasty food. The wine list is a complete variety of wines to please all.
Our server Shelbie Rae was very attentive and accommodating.
I had to add this spot as it was not on the list of restaurants. It’s now bookmarked for the future.
