Building Intimate Marriages, Inc. provides marriage therapy and sex therapy in a private practice (doctors office) setting. All our therapists are have degrees in marriage and family therapy and are trained in sex therapy. In addition to counseling couples in crisis or with low marital satisfaction we also specialize in affair recovery and treat various sexual dysfunctions. History

Established in 1998.

Dr. Sytsma and some friends established Building Intimate Marriages to focus his work and ministry on marriages. The practice continues to grow and add to the staff and services it provides to couples.

Meet the Manager

Michael S.

Manager

Dr. Michael Sytsma, PhD, LPC, CST, SAS, is the Founder, Director, and Senior Therapist for Building Intimate Marriages, Inc. He has a Marriage and Family PhD from the University of Georgia, an MA in Community Counseling from Georgia State, and a BS in Christian Ministry from Indiana Wesleyan University. He also holds a diploma in Christian Counseling from Richmont Graduate University (formerly Psychological Studies Institute). He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia, a Certified Sex Therapist, and a Certified Sexual Addictions Specialist. Dr. Sytsma is also an Ordained Minister in the Wesleyan Church and pastored for several years before founding Building Intimate Marriages, Inc. He serves as lead therapist for BIM providing marital sex therapy, leading workshops/​seminars, and supervising the other therapy staff.
