Flat Creek Lodge

Really a nice place to stay for a getaway. My wife and I celebrated our 12^th wedding anniversary in the two bedroom cottage over the water. One word: Relaxation.

Friendly, southern hospitality at its best! We went as a family for a time to get away and just relax together. My kids were 3 and 5 and I wasn’t sure how they would do, but as soon as we got the keys to our golf carts I knew we’d all have fun. Yes the food is a bit too buttery or greasy, but that depends on the chef that’s cooking that particular shift. So hopefully they’ll work on their consistency, but the food is still tasty. Don’t expect Michelin star food here, but this is definitely better than most chain restaurants I’ve eaten in. They are creative and offer dishes made with their own artisan cheese made onsite with the milk from their own cows.
The cabins are AWESOME! Hands down, best cabin rental of my life and I don’t expect it to ever be topped. We were in their Cottontail Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed how spacious it was with two rooms and two bathrooms with a family room and porch on the water. The view was relaxing and we felt very safe.
The golf carts were an added bonus I didn’t know about when I found the Groupon. And they were totally a perk to our stay. Their 2000 acres is a must to explore and the carts made it possible.
The game room was cozy. The blueberry fields are a great way to spend a few minutes (just ask if you can pick some when they’re in season) — we didn’t pay for the near pound we picked and they were the best blueberries of our lives!
Fishing was slow when we were their, but our guide Jeff went above and beyond to make sure we all caught something. He was also spectacular with our kids and very calm. We borrowed two rods over night so we could fish off our back porch (that’s where I finally ended up catchy 2 bass).
Service was friendly and helpful. It poured down rain while we were there and they took us to our cabin in their van so we wouldn’t get soaked driving our golf carts. The next morning our carts were waiting by our cabin fully charged.
Go to relax, don’t cook (or bring a hot plate and keep food in your fridge — if your room provides it). There’s no real internet (at least for ATT customers) but that’s what we wanted.
One thing that’s missing: a swimming pool
One thing to fix: the shower heads — the pressure is great but it hurt because of the type of shower heads they have.
One minor constructive criticism: too much butter in the omelets and oil for the scallops
Glad we went! I definitely would go back and plan to as soon as possible!

We had a wonderful stay. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner were all great. Zero complaints. Everyone went out of their way to accommodate. Golf carts are a must to enjoy the entire property. The upgrade to the cottage was well worth it, and golf carts were included. Gina and Kurt made our stay. Gina did an amazing job in the dining room and ensuring our stay was awesome. Kurt (Doodle) was so helpful and knowledgable. Two great people that really enjoy their work

I had a great time here. I went on a fishing guided tour and it was lots and lots of fun! Actually caught 2 fish that the chef was so very good to cook for us in 2 different ways
Missing star — it was a bit creepy how empty and isolated it was — but I guess that’s why someone would drive all the way to Swainsboro! Also, they DON’T have hot sauce?!! What! The food needs a bit more ‘spice’.

Nice place but the food was greasy, expensive and had to wait too long, probably won’t go back.

This place is awesome! It’s literally off of the beaten path and tucked away in the forest of Swainsboro. I took my fiancé’ here for her birthday and we had a great time. This place is really the epitome of southern hospitality and charm. From the minute you drive off of the main road you are reminded that you are in the country when you see the boundary signs for the clay shooting areas. When you arrive at the main lodge area the property itself is nicely designed to remind you of the outdoors and nature with mostly wooden construction and random artisan sculptures of birds and other images in nature. The property is laid out in a way that maintains that communal feel but also gives you privacy when you want it. We stayed in the Racoon Room which had taxidermied racoons on the wall in various poses which added to the feel of being in the woods. The alarm clock radios even had nature sounds so that you can set the sound that you wanted to wake up or go to sleep to. I really enjoyed lounging in the game room which had fresh-​popped popcorn, a pool table, and a big TV with a DVD player if you wanted to watch TV or a movie.
We went fishing for a day during our stay. The sporting goods staff person, Jeff, was our fishing guide. His patient tutelage (along with the encouragement of his little furry four-​legged helper Sadie) allowed my fiancé’ and I not to leave the pond frustrated and empty-​handed! We caught a few bass which Jeff graciously fileted and packaged for us to take home after taking out a few filets for the chef back at the lodge who was more than happy to prepare our catch any way we liked it (blackened for him, fried for her) for a nice dinner that evening along with some side dishes to make a complete meal. There was a fee since the chef did cook us a full meal including dessert but the cost of everything was reasonable.
Breakfast tasted amazing every day and I really liked how before even getting out to the dining hall for breakfast there was a hot pot of coffee outside the back door of our room every morning to help us get the day started.
This place is great for couples or groups because you don’t have the distractions of televisions in the room or too may other electronics. While Wi-​Fi is available if you need it (and cellular service in small pockets of space), you really come here to get «off of the grid» and in touch with nature and do more outdoor activities. You really have to either enjoy the solitude of your own company or interact with others to get the most out of this experience, even if you just take a casual stroll on the grounds or watch the swans swim around in the lake. There is also a bath house and spa for those who want to be even more relaxed while taking in the views and the fresh air of the forest.
That said, I’ll probably go back now that Jeff got my fiancé’ hooked on fishing. Next time I’ll have to try some clay pigeon shooting! Grouponers, do note that you will be charged roughly a $ 35 fee plus tax for using the Groupon Deal. That caught me off guard but not enough to not go back.

My sister and I purchased a Groupon for the Flat Creek Lodge and just returned from and awesome weekend getaway. We had NO idea what to expect we were pleasantly surprised. The staff and accommodations were out of this world! We had the Raccoon Room which was wonderful! The décor was awesome and very comfortable. We are not really «out door» types of girls but for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city it was just what we needed. From the minute we pulled in we were impressed. Gary met us at our car and checked us in. He walked us to our room and filled us in on everything we needed to know. It was quiet and beautiful. You walk out the back door and the lake is right there with a beautiful sunset. They had coffee waiting for you right outside your room every morning. The dining hall was amazing. Wonderful menu and service. Everyone was so friendly and personable. We also had facials done at the spa and enjoyed the sauna and hot tub! Excellent! I just can’t rave enough about this hidden gem. The cheese was amazing too! They have over 2000 acres and you can hunt and fish. They had a game room with pool, a bar, tv’s and board games. The grounds where well kept and had an awesome fire pit area too. We had awesome fall like weather which made sitting on the porch that much more enjoyable. You could also rent a golf cart to drive arrive the property. We passed on this bc we just wanted to relax and lay low. But we can’t thank you enough for the awesome weekend! Definitely check out the Flat Creek Lodge! You will NOT be disappointed!
