History

Established in 1996.

Mad Science had grown from a hobby to a passion and from a passion to a thriving business. In August 1993, the company moved from the owners’ home to its first suite of offices. By the end of 1996, 28 Mad Science franchises were operating across North America.

Today, the Mad Science Group is a family of education, entertainment and production companies serving children, parents and communities around the globe. Throughout its prolific growth, the company has remained dedicated to its many stakeholders – children, parents, educators, franchise owners and staff – and to its mission: to spark the imagination of children everywhere.

Had Mad Science party over the weekend for approx. 30 kids ranging 3 – 7, and it was spectacular. Jupiter Josh and Dr. Magma (mad scientists) were beyond engaging to the kids. They had great energy, were humorous, and really kept kids involved. The kids sat for over an hr, completely engaged, which is hard to do at that age. Several parents commented how great they were, and where they could find them. In addition, they stayed for pictures, did not rush party, afterwards mingled with kids and talked about the slime they had made at party. I never felt rushed like a lot of party vendors, entertainment I had used in the past for kids parties. I highly recommend this creative party, we will be using again.

My son attended Mad Science as an after school program. I sat in the back of the auditorium listening to the first class. Mad Science instructor was rude, impatient, and unprofessional. He was frustrated when the kids kept talking. Well, hello! these are 5 – 8 years old kids. You put them in groups of 5 –6, they will talk. The instructor kept yelling, «hey hey, quiet down».
Five minutes after the class started, he had to leave and walk back to his car to retrieve an item. Parking lot is a good 3 – 4 minutes walk each way, what a perfect way to kill class time, eh! I can’t believe he left the children… at least he had a sense of mind to ask a school day care worker to keep an eye on the kids. But he shouldn’t have left in the first place.
The instructor doesn’t have a clue how to explain electrical current to kids in a simplified way. He talked like a surfer dude, and got frustrated when the kids didn’t understand him. This class was supposed to be fun and interactive. However, the instructor made it feels like a detention… no talking, sit quietly, and follow instruction…
No wonder why the website clearly stated that «no refund after first class»
Mad Science, I dare you! Invite parents to sit in your damn classes and have them rate your fools that you called Instructors. I guarantee you, most of the parents will be asking for their money back.
Parents! stay away from their after school program. Your kids are better off watching brainless SpongeBob at home… I really mean it.

My son loves Mad Science, absolutely LOVES it. This is why my recent experience is so disappointing, and why I felt compelled to write this review. My son is four and your typical boy — he is all about science. The sounds the goop makes, ah yah, enough said! His school offers weekly enrichment classes, and Mad Science was one of the classes offered so I signed him up.
I was surprised when I received a notice a week later stating the class was postponed a week due to low enrollment. Every mom I had spoken with had told me they signed their child up too. The week came and went and the next week I received an email stating the class was cancelled due to low enrollment. I was confused, so I spoke with the school’s director. She stated 9 kids enrolled and Mad Science cancelled the class because they wanted 10 kids signed up. Sound like low enrollment to you? So now 9 kids are heartbroken, and for what, one less spot in a class? How sad is that?
I love Mad Science myself because it brings so much joy to my son, but whoever is running this place needs some classes of their own on customer satisfaction. If Mad Science is in business for the kids, then why would they disappoint 9 of them? I know disappointment happens, but this is unacceptable. My son has now missed out on a soccer class that is scheduled at the same time and is now filled up.
And to boot, their email stated the money I paid will not be returned for 30 days. The Mad Science instructors are great, fantastic really; but Mad Science the company needs a better grip on how to run their enrichment programs.

I want to thank Bob the Mad Scientist for a job well done! I was able to book Bob for a last-​minute birthday party for my son. The costumer service over the phone was very professional and accommodating. Bob was excellent. He was very entertaining and informative. The kids had an amazing experience and, with my son’s growing interest in science, he was the perfect entertainer! Thank you mad science for making my son’s birthday party a success!

Mad Scientist Bob came to our party yesterday and kept 40 children engaged for over an hour! He was amazing, and the party couldn’t have been better! I have had Magicians, Superhero’s and a pony but nothing was amazing as this party!
We did the add on of the rocket and the cotton candy! Big hit! I highly recommend this company! Also dealing with the booking staff was super easy and they were delightful on the phone!

We used them for my son’s 7th birthday last weekend. Our scientists name was Matt. He was amazing!!! He kept all of the kids entertained for the entire time. He was great with them. His energy & enthusiasm was great! We will absolutely use them again and I will definitely recommend them to all of my friends. The price was very reasonable and we got their goodie bags which were a steal at $ 4 each. Great job!!!

If your kid is craving a science party — use Mad Science and ask for Jumping Jonathan! He is the best! All 20+ kids (ages 3 – 8) and their parents were engaged throughout the entire party. He’s so enthusiastic and entertaining.
Last winter she attended a week long camp. The instructor was Rocket Robby (or Robbie). All the kids seemed to really enjoy him; he was professional and fun and he kept them engaged throughout the entire day. She was excited to attend each day and came home with what seemed like a million projects that they had worked on throughout the week. She was very eager to explain velocity, kinetic energy, gravity, etc… when I picked her up each day. The only downside was that the hours made it impossible for me to complete a full 8 hour day at work since I was responsible for drop off and pick up — but it was worth it because she REALLY enjoyed it.

I used these guys a few months ago for my 5 year ol’s birthday party. We got Jonathan to host. He was great. All the kids were entertained the entire time (no squirming or whining or anything). My son still talks about how great the smoke (ie dry ice) shower was and is asking for them again.

Mad Science is amazing! My son begs me for a party from their lab-​coated scientists EVERY YEAR and he’s never disappointed. He also loves the after school classes they offer at his elementary school! The scientists are incredibly informative, reliable, engaging and FUN! I love that my son and his friends are learning without even realizing it! Their staff is always very accommodating, and will even come all the way to Palmdale where we live! My son is already wondering when HE can be a Mad Scientist!

I used to work for these guys and the training was spotty and not very professional. They would often ask us last minute to cover parties sometimes 20 – 30 miles away and we were expected to attend meetings in the west valley every Friday in the midst of rush hour traffic. The pay was okay and the programs were mediocre — mostly due to the lack of training.
Worst of all was the owner, Mike P. At one point, he was not just terribly unprofessional to me, he was simply rude. I quit after a particular discussion … I had never been spoken to so rudely by employer.
Avoid. Go to Planet Bravo instead.
