Jack the Dipper is a family favorite ice cream parlor in Sylva, NC located in the Quin Theater Shopping Center. Home of the warm waffle cone! We have over 40 hand dipped flavors to choose from. Jack the Dipper Ice Cream has been a Jackson County, NC icon since 1976.

We are an old fashioned hand-​dipped ice cream emporium. Made to order warm waffle cones (vanilla or cinnamon). Cones, sundaes, shakes, malts, shaved ice, banana splits. We also make made to order ice cream cakes. Please call at least 72 hours in advance of the pick-​up to order the cakes. Varying sizes, shapes and layers. Call for details!

Ask about our Birthday Party Packages! Many options to choose from, including coffee, ice cream, pin the tail on the donkey, a magician, and renting the space!

This place is awesome. Probably the last little mom and pop ice cream store in Western North Carolina, they serve top quality ice cream and have become a local favorite for dessert. The prices are reasonable and the store is pet friendly too (they offer pup cups which are vanilla ice cream with a milk bone in it). This place is a must visit if you plan on hanging around Sylva for a while.

The waffle cones are pretty fantastic, but I was a bit disappointed to see that they’re just dishing out Mayfield and Hershey’s ice creams. The selection was fine enough, but I was hoping for some good, homemade stuff.

Found this place here on Unilocal.It’s hidden in a shopping center. We would have never found it otherwise. Came through on a trip from Florida. We didn’t realize most of the dessert shops were still closed for the winter. The locals love this place as it was packed on a weekday night. Ice cream is Blue Bell and Hersheys but the warm cinnamon waffle cone did it for me! Simply put, it’s awesome.

The BEST ice cream! Cookies and cream and the Brownie batter are my top 2 contenders. We visit Sylva about 3 times a year and we get this every time we come. Staff is really friendly and it’s about 4 $ for a large cone. So Good!

Love love love this place. Their ice cream is great but the best part is their handmade waffle cones! They are made right when you order it and are still warm when you are handed your cone. Great prices, very friendly and fun atmosphere. Also very community oriented, which is just a bonus :)

Had the Heavenly Hash with homemade waffle cone. Delicious! I agree with a previous review that the waffle cone made it taste amazing!!! Plus, friendly staff with one that wears a ‘net’ around his beard. Will def come back soon.

This place has such great ice cream! Its is especially great because for a college student, such as myself who is on a budget, this place is really affordable and is very generous with the amount of ice cream served. They have a wide selection of different flavors that make it a somewhat difficult choice to choose which one you want, but once your choice is made, you won’t be disappointed. All I can say left is that I definitely recommend this place get ice cream.

They’ve got eclectic flavors of ice cream (pumpkin etc) Given and as several reviewers have mentioned, they make their own waffle cones. Both varieties (plain and cinnamon) are delicious. They make the cones while you watch. Can’t get more fresh than that. I wish they made their own ice cream also, maybe someday. Nice to support a local place.

I had the pumpkin butter pecan on cinnamon waffle cone and it was fantastic. The waffle cones come warm and are a prefect pairing to the creamy ice cream. The kids and husband wanted a second cone. The prices were very reasonable. We we were on vacation and had a hard time finding the place because google maps was sending us the wrong way. We gave up searching and ended up finding it in a shopping center across from the abc store we were going to.

I love this place! Though I have yet to try one of their award winning homemade waffle cones, the ice cream is always delicious! The customer service is great. The owner is normally there and is super friendly and very personable. Knowing that this is a local business and seeing the owner taking a very active role in his business is a huge plus and uplifting sight.
There is plenty of flavors, so everyone should have at least one of their favorites there. The scoops of ice cream are very generous. The banana bread is to die for!
There is usually some deals going on as well in which 10% of proceeds goes to a charitable organization; such as ARF. Check the chalkboard and see what organization might benefit from your purchase.

They get five stars for their homemade waffle cones. Perfection. They’re served slightly warm and come in two varieties; cinnamon and regular.
Five stars for customer service as well; the owner is super friendly and personable. Huge bonus for me. They offer plenty of ice cream flavors, so theres’s something for everyone. I bought a small loaf of their homemade banana bread as well; this was absolutely delicious! They bake their brownies & banana bread in-​house.
Note: this isn’t a creamery; they offer 30+ flavors from three different suppliers. If you’re not sure what you want to try, you can sample some of the flavors.
Cool décor inside too; I love the vintage collection of signs, memorabilia, etc.

My boyfriend had the cinnamon waffle bowl with apple pie ice cream. An all star choice. I had the chocolate peanut butter ice cream in a vanilla waffle bowl. Mine was good. His was better.
The location is nice and there is plenty of room to sit inside or out. Service is fast and friendly. I wish they made the ice cream there but they have a great selection from 3 – 4 different companies (Hershey, Blue Bell, etc.).
If you’re in Sylva or anywhere nearby and want ice cream, this is the place!

Place is awesome! Best place to get some Ice cream! People working there are always friendly and they always hook it up with the toppings. Cake batter is great with some chocolate syrup. People do not always know this but when putting toppings on your ice cream you got to add gram crackers, may sound odd but you have to try it you will not be upset.

LOVE this place, the people are always very friendly and helpful and the ice cream is bomb! There are lots of flavors to choose from and every topping you can imagine, even skittles! I love the brownie sundae, it’s huge and soooooo tasty, I get it every time! and I agree with the other review, the place smells like heaven!

This place is amazing. Cook the waffle cones to order, then put the ice cream right in. Not sure how the ice cream doesn’t melt in the hot waffle cone, but the hot and cold contrast is so good! Everytime I am anywhere close to here, I have to stop in!

First off, walking in the door will immediately make you fall in love with this place. The smell is DIVINE!
Best ice cream place in the Southeast! The waffle cones are KEY! They’ll add vanilla or cinnamon to the cone before making it fresh for you. With the cold ice cream of your choice put in a warm waffle cone, there’s no way to go wrong.
Looks like someone else put all the other pertinent extras about the place on here, but honestly, go for a waffle cone. Stay for something else, but waffle cone it!
