Specialties
A cooperative school is a family oriented school where parents work in conjunction with the professional staff to provide the finest preschool education possible. Families are directly involved in their children’s education, and are welcome to participate in the classroom. Parents are urged to contribute time to the school by volunteering on the board as well as fund raising committees.
History
Established in 1954.
Tobay Day School is one of Long Island’s oldest cooperative nursery schools. It began as a neighborhood playgroup and had it’s first rented space in 1954 in a local church. Soon there after it was located in the North Shore Synagogue. In it’s third year, a building fund was established, with an adequate down payment for it’s current location 140 Syosset Woodbury Road in Syosset.
Tobay Day School is a non-sectarian school for two, three, and four year old children. We operate with a modified cooperative structure which means that family participation is not only welcome but incouraged.
