This was the first Thai place I ever dined at. Considering my pre-college diet consisted of Dunkin Donuts, chicken, pizza and chocolate milk, my newly-developed and self-described«refined», college man palate expertly determined that this was THE best Thai food it had ever tasted. Maybe it’s not really as delicious as I’m recalling it to be, but I’ll be damned if appeThaizing is closed when I return to Syracuse for a visit. I craved that pad thai and much like Keystone Light(which is amazing), it will always have a special place in my heart(#lol). #fatkid #greenteaicecream #wethoughtweweresocultured

I’ve made it a goal to try every Appethaizing location in/near Syracuse every time I make a trip up there. This will be the second I’ve dined at. Compared to the Baldswinsville location, this one is extremely casual, has a few menu differences, and is slightly less quality. Come to this one for a quick meal; go to Baldswinsville for a date or friend get-together. We got the spring rolls to start; they were slightly oilier than I am used to, but I still enjoyed them. I got beef pad Thai and loved it. Well portioned and delicious. Others ordered the Brown Noodles(we agreed it was just okay), Pad Pak(it was very bland but also very light), and Pad Prig Pow(loved what I tasted). I also got the Thai iced tea and loved it; they don’t make it as excessively sweet as most places do. Our waitress was extremely sweet and tolerated my friend telling her that she was lucky to serve him, that their plates were from IKEA, and interrogating her about where to get margaritas nearby(among other things lol). Given the price point and the great service, I would go back in a second.

Have not had a bad meal here. Everyone in our party of 6 enjoyed their meals. Pricing was not bad and is conveniently located. Staff was most pleasant. Will go back again.

I’ve never had a bad experience here, and the food is really solidly okay. The three or four times I’ve gone(always with someone else or in a group), it hasn’t been busy, and the service is quick. I can’t vouch for the meat options, but I’ve had the pad Thai, the golden noodle, and the brown noodle. decent pricing for the amount of food. more than anything, it’s really conveniently located if you spend a lot of time at the university. One thing I do really appreciate that I don’t often encounter is that each time I order tofu, the waitress asks if I’m vegetarian or vegan(presumably for food prep purposes) and makes a note of it on the order.

Underwhelming restaurant at best. I can be critical, but my experience here was disproportionately unpleasant that it has to be noted. When we entered the half-empty restaurant, we were promptly shouted at from across the room to just«find your own seat.» I thought I could brush it off, but my annoyance was only compounded by how long it took for the food to come. More specifically, my friends and I noticed our waitress folding napkins near the kitchen. When we made eye contact, she cursorily went about getting our food that appeared to be sitting on the kitchen counter for a while. When we got it, I was at least somewhat pleased the taste was just up to par. The red curry’s lemongrass and basil leaves were pronounced enough, but too mild. 4⁄10

I’ve tried several thai restaurants and compared to those, AppeThaizing is just decent. The food is not the most authentic but don’t get me wrong. It still tastes good but if you are looking for an authentic Thai restaurant, this is not it. I have tried all of their noodles and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing that I would complain about is the portion size. When ordering pad thai, they give a lot. For the other noodle dishes, they don’t give enough to make me feel full(I have a large appetite). Service is good — mainly college students working as waiters/waitresses. It gets very busy during the dinner and lunch hours so expect the service to be a bit slow(understandable). If you do pick-up, food takes about 15 minutes before it is ready to be picked up. It takes about the same, maybe a bit longer(depending on time) when you go to dine in. I LOVE their thai iced tea. NOTE: When it comes to the options of how spicy you want your dish, they aren’t lying when about the K. O option. This place would get 4 stars but because of the portion size, I give it 3 stars. I never get full unless I order Pad Thai or noodles with an appetizer :(– but when I’m feeling like a broke college student, I refuse to get an appetizer.

Can’t love the fried rice better(when they can do it at their normal level). Also love the chicken salad. Service can be good or very bad. I used to go there when I was in Whitman.

I ordered pad thai, and thai iced tea with two appetizers: calimari and eggrolls. Let’s stay at the beginning. The iced tea was nice and refreshing. I had no trouble getting that down. The calimari was pretty good, had a nice sauce. It went south from there, however. The egg rolls, even though they were deep fried, seemed excessively oily(literally dripping), and was fairly bland. The sauce made it a bit better though. The pad thai had four or five large shrimp, but other than that, had nothing else good to say about it. It had very little flavor, and a big slab of egg plopped on top. Of course, it seemed oily as well. Over all, this is a hole-in-the-wall that was not impressive. Had some pretty good calimari, I have to admit. Other than that, not a fan. This place was not exactly a bargain either. Probably won’t be coming back.

Appethaizing is solidly average. The food was good — I had the chicken pad thai and my friend had the chicken pad pak and we both gobbled it down — and service was pretty good. My problem is two-fold: first, I paid using a gift card, and one of the ladies«accidentally» over-swiped and took a little more money off the card than the food was worth. Second, the carpet on the staircase is so moldy it smells disgusting, which isn’t a great way to welcome folks to your restaurant.

The food is decent if somewhat monotone. I had the chicken Pad Thai, which came as a big mound of mostly noodles. My wife had the Pad Pak, which she describes as «alright, tasty despite somewhat sad veggies.» We also had the chicken satay appetizer, which had a tasty peanut sauce. The service was fine, but quite slow. Especially considering the place was far from packed and well-staffed. The prices are competitive for sit-down dining. My wife got a beer for only $ 3.75. Overall, not bad. But I’d recommend looking for something better than not bad.

Why can you only split the check 4 ways? It’s not a good marketing strategy. Anyone with a large party would go somewhere else. I was in there with 5 people and we couldn’t get our check split 5 ways. What is the difference if one person sat at another table? That policy is hurting your business. I won’t go back with a party more than 4 now. And one of my friends said he is never going back. The food is good, but the service is not good. You should change your policy of splitting checks. I’m not sure what the reasoning is but it is an inconvenience.

Bad… wasn’t good. Basically everyone who ordered noodle dishes that were supposedly different all came out the same. Visited a friend for the weekend and they decided to have thai food for dinner. This is far beyond app’thai’zing as they call themselves.

Meh. This place is the McDonald’s of Thai food. If you really want something spicy and the other grease-pits on Marshall are just not cutting it, appeThaizing will do. Otherwise, do not waste your time here. They’re extraordinarily overpriced considering what they serve. If you’re going to skimp on quality, at least have your prices reflect it. Pad Thai is palatable, Red curry okay, but the Tom Yum soup was disgusting. Try Thai Flavor, or do yourself a favor and go to Lemongrass.

I ordered take out a lot for lunch after classes and before a long shift at work. I love their pad thai, it’s tastes different from other pad thais I’ve had in NYC — and so addictive too! Not the best pad thai ever, but it’s pretty great for Syracuse. My mouth waters whenever I go. The coconut shrimp is also a favorite. The prices do tend to be on the higher side, but that’s why I go for their lunch prices.

I like this place because the food is good and the service is good. I mean. that’s basically what makes a good restaurant, the food and service. However, it’s really expensive. Too expensive for what it’s for. However, I’m not complaining. if you’re ready to drop some money on good Thai food, I recommend this place. Try their Thai tea and Coconut Shrimp Rolls… It’s amazing. And also best fried rice so far in Syracuse. IMHO Price: Expensive for what it’s for Food: Great! Try their Pad Thai and Thai Style Fried Rice Service: Great! Friendly and quick Hope this helps!

Instead of ordering an entrée, I’d rather get 2 appetizers. Appethaizing Shrimp, that is. So I’m 2 times happier :)

The«meh, I’ve experienced better» 2-star rating for Unilocal is just about perfect for this place. It is indeed very meh. The apps are good, I’ll give them that. Satay is standard but tasty, fried tofu is good, and the spring rolls are actually excellent. However, when fried spring rolls are the best thing on the menu at a thai place, it’s time to look elsewhere. Unless of course you just want drinks and a quick/small bite, in which case I actually would say it’s a decent option, especially on campus. Pad thai was really boring, and the pad prig pow just made me sad. I tried the curry which someone else at the table had, and that left me disappointed as well. If someone invited me, I’d go back(and try the drunken noodles which reviewers here seem to like), but after giving it a few chances, it’s not a place I’d suggest or go to on my own.

The only Thai food on campus(even if Marshall Street isn’t really«on campus»), and it’s pretty good. Price-wise, it’s steep(but then again, I’m from New York City and we have good Thai for really cheap). But the lunch deals aren’t too bad and their noodles are so yummy. My favorite are the pad thai and the brown noodle — their chicken satay is good too. Every time I come here, I always leave satisfied and full. And, they have fast service — every time I get take out, I’m in and out in no longer than 15 minutes. Only 4 stars because everytime I leave, I also smell like Thai food, and it’s hard to get that scent off your clothes. Plus, it hurts my wallet. Broke college student. Enough said.

We visited Appethaizing tonight before heading to the NCAA tournament. We’ve been meaning to get here for awhile but generally don’t head toward SU while school is in session. We started with the calamari appetizer which I thought was great! My husband was not quite so excited but he’s not a big a calamari fan as I am. I had the drunken noodles and as other reviewers have said, they were excellent. This is not my usual Thai choice though so I can’t tell you if they are better than other places. My husband had Pad Thai which was tasty but defnintely not the best that you can get in Syracuse — try Little Thai or Lao Village for something a bit better. Service was friendly and very attentive. We’ll defintely make another visit to try the green curry which is my measure of how good or bad a Thai restuarant really is!
