Pole Creek Golf Club

Don’t miss this golf course. We had played 18 at another course earlier in the day. We were tired and debated about canceling our t time for 9 holes. We are so glad that we didn’t cancelled.
First it was Wednesday night and they have a special called 3, 6, 9 where you can play that many holes in a particular course. There are three 9 hole courses here. The course we had a tee time on was the Ridge course. When we checked in we were told the course was backed up, slow play and they could not guarantee that we would not be paired with another twosome. The gal in the clubhouse told use about the 3, 6, 9 deal and said the Ranch course was wide open. Since we were tired we chose the 6 hole option for a grand total of $ 24 for both of us including the cart. We were also told that if we got to the 7^th hole and there was no in waiting, we were free to play the remaining 3 holes for not charge.
The course is breathtakingly beautiful. It’s what you think a golf course in the mountains of Colorado should look like. Some super challenging holes, awesome views and huge bonus bear tracks through the 9^th hole sand trap… so cool.

I would much rather pay 80 bucks to get kicked in the nuts and then be done with a day of golf, than actually play a round of golf. I’m pathetic and usually end up either breaking something or slamming more beers than holes I finish out of frustration. When my buddy had his bachelor party here though, I just had to suck it up and hit the links.
As much as I hate this game I’ve gotta give credit to the best place I’ve ever played at. Pole Creek has three courses all surrounded by Rocky Mountain beauty so even if you’re as terrible as I am, the natural surroundings will provide you with a sense of serenity so you don’t drive your cart into a water hazard.
Outside of the immaculate fairways and greens the staff is incredibly nice. On several occasions a marshal came by to either offer advice or help find a lost ball. (which there was a record number of) He even took a couple of pictures for us which was by far the best shot I was a part of in the round.
They rent some really nice Titleist clubs for only about $ 30 and beers and food are pretty affordable compared to other courses I’ve ever played. Overall Pole Creek is worth the price of admission just based on the scenery alone. If you’re actually a good golfer, I bet you’ll love it too.

Wow. What a great experience. On the way through town, we stopped at the Pole Creek Golf Resort for a quick lunch. I ordered the grilled cheese and it was awesome. The service was beyond incredible. The waitress even brought me a phone charger for my cell phone because I had mentioned my phone was low on battery at the time. It was a great experience. I would definitely go back next time I am in town.

What a wonderful course! There are 3 nine-​hole courses, so you can mix and match to choose your own adventure. The course is well maintained and the views are incredible. Dad paid (yesss!), but I think greens fees were in the $ 80 dollar range. Well worth it.
Even though the altitude is higher than 8800 feet, my drives still didn’t crack 300 yards… c’mon altitude, gimme some love!!!

About a week before me and 7 others were heading up to WP for a weekend of debauchery I properly tore up my ankle, preventing me from being able to swing a club.
I did, however, play cart driver & caddie for someone each day. The course (s) itself is beautiful. There are three distinctly different 9s: the Meadow, the Ranch, and the Ridge. The Meadow is the hardest, but deceptively so. It’s laid out fairly tightly, is pretty open, but has some holes that are just evil. Long approach shots that have to clear hazards, and some greens that will make you question your equilibrium and ability to see things as «uphill» or «downhill.»
The Ranch has a more wide open layout, and definitely presents a challenge with tough landing areas, more hazards to clear with long shots, and includes a par 3 I like to call «The WTF.» A short par 3, it features both a green and a hazard. And that’s it. It doesn’t even really have a landing area in case you short your tee shot. The Pro Tips on the card that educate you as to where to hit shots and how to play a hole recommend that on this hole you aim for bunkers to the left of the green, and hope for bogey. That’s course itself recommends you take a bogey and move on. This made me happy I wasn’t playing, and just driving the cart.
The Ridge was my favorite; a classic mountain 9. Lots of elevation change, some great challenge, very spread out, but fair landing areas and opportunities to really go pin hunting if you can poke your drive a good distance. It’s incredibly picturesque, and surrounded by gorgeous houses that make you wish you were rich, and hate rich people.
The staff at the course was also incredibly cool and friendly, some great rangers, fun cart girls, and great restaurant and pro-​shop staff. It was definitely a great course that ranks high on my list.
