I’m a property manager in the Tacoma area and was introduced to Tom Hume about 6 months ago through family friends. The company I work for is starting up a rental business and in need of numerous properties to get up and running. I first realized how great David, Matt, and Tom were before I’d ever met any of them. When I showed their houses they would follow up with a friendly text to see if I had any questions. That kind of initiative is rare. If the home I saw wasn’t what my clients were looking for, they would suggest another listing for us to check out.
This group sells A LOT of houses, and with that comes an incredible amount of knowledge, expertise, and professionalism. They answer their phones, they solve problems, and they get homes sold. RECOMMEND.

After having an unsuccessful venture with a real estate team, I interviewed David Gala specifically because of all of the signs about Tacoma, thinking that his popularity must speak to his skill set, passion for selling, and drive to get the job done. Upon meeting him, he spewed out all of the verbage you want to hear when you’re about to entrust the sale of your investment to someone. He laid out a full on plan to sell our view property. It was a challenging property to sell as it had some limitations that may be unappealing to buyers. I was so enthused by his well-​formulated plan: Brokers Open House, Buyers Open House, Flyers, Ads (in multiple prints and online), professional photos, etc, etc, etc. His strategy seemed to be all encompassing. My husband and I (granted, I was managing most of the sale) felt confident that David had it all under control. He was really enthusiastic to get started and wanted us to sign with him right away. We assumed, if not being reassured, that this meant that «the plan» would kick off right away.
Over a week after signing, I had to hound and hound and hound to preview the marketing materials. I was told, many times, by their admin assistant that «allowing the owner to preview» wasn’t really what they normally did. I told her that I wouldn’t authorize anything being mass printed or published without looking at it. In our previous experience with another agent, they misrepresented SO many things about our property, I wanted to be very clear that I wanted to just look things over as to not have to then undo errors. Weeks past before anything was shown to me. The house was put on the MLS right away, however with a very generic non-​descrip blurb about it and no photos (I ended up having to provide photos — apparently the conversation where they were going to have professional photos done slipped their minds as «We never agreed to that»).
I’ll shorten this for you:
Brokers Open = NEVER HAPPENED despite months of promises
Buyers Open = NEVER HAPPENED («we want to have the broker’s open first)
Multiple Print Ads = NEVER HAPPENED
Flyers in box outside = Always empty despite telling them they had to refill them.
David never answered calls from me after I signed WITH HIM — he dumped everything onto Matt who was really rude, abrupt and impatient.
Once I compiled all of my complaints and emailed them, Matt called me to «fire me» as his client. I WASN’T EVER HIS CLIENT! I was David’s client (this was before the formal merger of their groups — this was right at the beginning of their journey).
Happy day! I couldn’t be more relieved to get rid of them! I want to make it very clear I’m not an «over demanding difficult client» — I’m someone who had invested my hard earned money into a home and watched its value slide and slide and needed to get out of it before the market bottomed out. They seemed to not give 2 hoots about my 300K property but to me, that was a HUGE HUGE HUGE amount of money at the time.
I hired my 3^rd agent and the house closed in under 45 days for full asking price. The agent we ended up going with worked her TAIL off. Was from Seattle (with 99% of her closings happening in King County and Seattle specifically) and she came down to Tacoma for a Brokers Open, Buyers Open, Marketing, Negotiations, Closing. She saved the deal when the buyer’s financing got sketchy. She took a greatly reduced commission. She went above and beyond to honor the fact that, while her pocketbook probably was in the negative by the time closing hit. Smart business? YES! I bought 2 houses through her already and will again!

My partner and I currently reside on the East coast and we recently made the decision to relocate to Pierce County for reasons involving career and family.
In the beginning, it felt like a daunting task at best to find a new home while living 2,700 miles away from our desired destination. Then, we found David Gala & The Hume Group, which completely bridged the gap from where we were and where we wanted to be! All three guys are great and Matt worked beautifully with us every step of the way.
