This store manager misrepresented a glass paper weight on ShopGoodwill.com by stating that it was 10.5" in diameter and when received it was only 3.25" in diameter. The reason this $50.00 paperweight sold for over. $300.00 is due to the misrepresented size 10.5" size. To date weeks later they still have not sent me the return authorization as they committed to. The person that runs this location needs to get a job whereas she is not having to interface with the public. I recommend going to another any other Goodwill store but this one, also watch out for this person/store on ShopGoodwill.com, I rate triple F-F-F-.

Been here a couple of times, the place like most Goodwill locations is pretty well organized with staff that can assist you with your needs. You can also donate to the cause by dropping off your used goods on the side of the building.

I have been going to this goodwill and the one before it before they moved which was in downtown tacoma and i never had an issue with the people some were scavengers some were modest like myself. I normally keep to myself when shopping or talk to people when they talk to me but today when i went a man discriminated me stating i was «autistic» and wanted to fight with me out of nowhere for no reason. I am talking with corporate and the manager says he said he never said it because the cashier didn’t hear it she didn’t hear it because we were halfway across the store. completely horrible experience with this place and the men that literally live tgere to support there little clothing business im shocked with how they are handling the situation. i am never shopping here again going to seattle its better at the Seattle one anyways :)

I love the bins! Treasure hunting and next thing I knew hours flew by and I am still consumed in the bins. They rotate quite a few times a day so new stuff comes out all day not to mention I have found hundreds of dollars in the bins. Advise you to wear gloves though. Sharp objects and you can run across some pretty dirty items. Please people do not donate your unwashed underwear showing all of us how you can’t afford toilet paper. Nasty. But that’s on donators not Goodwill. Low prices and nice staff!

I’d never been to a Goodwill Outlet (aka the bins) before and it was nothing like the horror stories I’ve heard.
There was easily almost 50 – 75 people in the store on a weekday afternoon but, everyone for the most part was very considerate of others space, and there were even a few nice strangers my boyfriend and I came across.
Considering it was our first trip, we didn’t go CRAZY. We mainly scanned the bins for items we were interested in and even found a few keepers.
For those on here that are saying this «outlet» is by ANY means overpriced… WHAT? I got an almost brand new pair of Worthington over the knee boots, a nice basket for my cat toys, a BRAND NEW (sticker still attached) salad spinner, 2 books, and a guide to birds all for $ 10.10 WITH TAX.
Yes, you are paying per pound. Yes, people there can kind of go crazy with ENTIRE CARTS of merchandise. But, it’s more than a great deal.
P. S. «Even» and «Odd» days of the month have different prices per pound for shoes.

This review is for the newer location in NallEy Valley District on Cedar across from Pepsi. It is a Goodwill Outlet Store. So you pay by the pound, even if things have a price tag you still pay by the pound on the scale. And if you like digging and treasure hunting then this is a good store for that. Nothing is really organized tho… I mean yeah sure you have a section for shoes, a section for clothes, a section for purses, a section for frames, a section for household/​toys, and a section for misc furniture… but it is not organized in any other sense… no bins are organized by size, gender, color, seasonal etc. So you really gotta rummage thru all bins to make sure you don’t miss anything. What I find myself coming here for most is shoes for myself and my kids. On even days shoes only cost $ 2.99 a pair. On odd days shoes sell by the pound at $ 1.50/lb…which is the better deal by the way. I walked out just the other day with some brand new combat type boots for about $ 2. The week before that I got a very nice pair of almost new hardly worn Sam Edleman flats for less than $ 2 (they originally cost $ 140 new at nordstroms) Ive also picked up cool fall harvest décor, a bag full of foliage and scarecrows for about $ 3) Ive gotten some cool purses for just a couple bucks. Its worth checking out but you do feel grimy when you leave. its not that clean and there are no fitting rooms.

I’ve been shopping at Goodwill all my life, and I’ve always enjoyed it. When I was young, I loved searching through the toys and games for a great new plaything. In more recent times I spend lots of time there hunting for clothes. Goodwill’s menagerie of clothing exhibits styles from the last few decades of fashion, as well as a fabulous array of colors, patterns, and textures. I would have to say Goodwill is my favorite place to shop, it’s eclectic collections cater nicely to my unique fashion sense.
Many of the Goodwill stores I have visited have had nice shopping areas with clean clothes. I would say their biggest flaws lay in the organization of clothing, and the cleanliness and quality of their dressing rooms. I sometimes have interest in trying on clothes, though the state of the dressing rooms sometimes prevents me from doing so. There’s often chewed gum and other stains on the floor, as well as other types of grime. The lighting is not fantastic nor is there proper seating in the dressing rooms.
Sometimes it is difficult to locate a clothing section, (such as children’s, adult’s, etc.) or a certain size within one. I often find clothing sizes placed in the wrong section which can be disappointing. More direct signage would be helpful.
Overall I enjoy shopping at Goodwill, it is my trusted source of thrifted and vintage clothing.

I always feel so dirty after I leave here buuuut its worth it. You can find some sweet treasures for cheap if you’re willing to dig. I’ve found Lucky jeans, unopened board games (Scene It which is not cheap), flannels that still have the original tag on them, A bebe sweater dress, and lots of other random cool stuff.
I do wish that they would pay a little more attention to what they’re putting in the bins though. I’ve seen dirty underwear and I was there last Thursday and there was a rug with dog poop (I’m hoping it was from a dog) smeared all over it. Lol who does that? Doesn’t the stuff there come from regular goodwill stores? Does that mean that they has a rug for sale in their store that had dog poop on it?
Some of the customers there are like wild animals… They group up and wait for the last new bin to be placed so that they can all attack. Also, I’ve seen people with like five carts off to the side while they dig more so sometimes they don’t have enough carts for everyone. I feel like that shouldn’t be allowed. They shouldn’t be able to have more than like two carts off to the side so that everyone can have a cart.
If you’re getting clothes then the by the pound thing is definitely a good deal but if you’re buying something a little heavier then its not that great. I bought an item there that was only ten cents cheaper than what it was priced by the regular goodwill.

I dislike this type of thrift store very much, it’s dirty, I don’t want to dig through a million broken things. If you’re expecting a normal goodwill be warned, this is not normal! Everything’s stacked and buried in huge bins and you pay per pound. It’s unorganized and you in all seriousness have to dig and touch everything! They need buckets of hand sanitizer at the door. My husband and I touched nothing and left quickly! ’

Spanaway Goodwill is always changing out the items on the racks. Quality merchandise with sale prices often entices me in to the store. I usually purchase a few outfits at a time, bring them home and then clean out a few from my personal collection to return to donation. Keep them in business. Gently used items for a good price. I always pick up the color calendar to keep me informed on what is going on sale weekly. This helps me to plan ahead. When you donate a large bag or two of clothing or items don’t hesitate to ask if they have a coupon. This usually is a 30% off one item on your return visit. This store is pretty clean, has bathrooms and keep the kids in check. Books, toys, electronics, clothing for all ages and shapes, as well as furniture and household goods. Can’t go wrong in Spanaway Goodwill!

Disaster management. Nobody knows what they doing. People waiting for their stuff for weeks. Just lazy. STAY away.

I love shopping here. Super cheap. I haven’t been to the Tacoma Goodwill Outlet on 27^th in a couple years but I went there the other day and saw they moved to a new location in Nalley Valley in May.
they are now on Pine St, close to S. Tacoma Way I believe. The new store is bigger, hopefully still cheap :)

The old goodwill outlet used to be really inexpensive, this one is $ 1.50 a pound.
When I added my items up, I saved about 50% off of what I would have payed for them in the regular goodwill store, but for clothes that are just one step away from the landfill, that just does not seem right. I spent $ 10 on a armful of clothes.
It’s worth it if you can find something decent, or a designers item, but for the rest of it, no thanks, it really should be a fill the bag for one price kind of deal on the clothes.
Not on my list of places to frequent often, but if I’m bored out of my mind I may go back?

Made a purchase from here in January 2013 at
(two fishing reels), paid for the reels, sent at least one dozen emails asking for the reels or a refund and as of today have not received either. In addition, am not receiving responses to emails.

Loved it … :-) … Husband and I took sides digging and were stooked everytime we found something we would whistle across the room «babe look «good times … But I kept finding pills or bags of medicine and there were kids bout to go for them I told them and the employees looked at me like I was crazy… n Hhhmmm … we just moved here so this will deff. Be our «by the pound «destination shopping :-) …

I used to live in Tacoma, and this Goodwill was a frequent shopping «paradise» back in the day for me. I remember finding many goodies here and it used to be well organized and packed to the brim with donated items.
I decided to give it a look since it’s probably been more than 7+ years since I’ve been here. It looks cleaner than it used to, but much more bare than I remember. Compared to other Goodwills I’ve been to, this one has more reasonable prices for used stuff.
I didn’t get a good look, since it was 30 mins before closing time. I found a few comic books and a video game for $ 3. The disc wasn’t inside though, I assumed that it would be at the front desk for the employees to grab. I mean, this is Tacoma we’re talking about…
I was disappointed to find out that they do NOT keep the discs behind the counter. They just leave em out there to get stolen. Not only that, the woman almost sold it to me without checking for the disc. It’s a good thing I asked. Even after I asked and another worker nearby said «If it’s not in there, the disc was stolen» the employee ringing me up asked me if I still wanted it. Um… why would I want an empty case for $ 3? :/​
So that was disappointing, but I would check it out again if I was in the area. Just… figure out what to do about your DVD area, seriously. People ARE going to steal them. Maybe Goodwill just doesn’t care, they were donated to begin with…

Pay by the pound outlet store. Prepare to dig!!! Might want to wear gloves. This is an interesting way to see just how much STUFF is out there and what happens to it before the landfill.

Not to toot my own horn, but I’ve got pretty good taste.
I like to dress nicely, buy nice things, indulge in the superfluous, and eat equally nice things.
I also make $ 9.50 an hour at Starbucks and my schooling costs approximately $ 50,000 a year. However do these factors mix you ask?
The Goodwill Outlet is my answer to everything.
Cute little brown ankle boots? $ 1.50.
Swanky, surprisingly clean vintage recliner? $ 12.
Super adorable, gold-​buttoned navy peacoat? $ 2.50.
Albeit, it’s a little gross digging through all the bins, but bring a few friends along and it becomes wildly entertaining.
Seriously guys, check this place out. Just be prepared to go neck to neck with a bunch of angry, thrifty retired people.

One part 3^rd world market, 2 parts gramma’s attic, and add a liberal dash of swap meet… chill for 3~5 hours, mix in congo/​checkout line and chug that badasss purchase you just made to the parking lot. Don’t look back or breathe till you know the cat lady isn’t tailing you any more.
I don’t know why you’re sitting at home on yer butt reading reviews about this place when you could be *Here*, hamming it up in this great and everlasting one~stop~shopping miracle that will probably outlive the new millenia in more ways than you can even begin to imagine.

This is the best thrift store in Tacoma – Goodwill Outlet (we call it «by the pound»). Don’t be scared of the piles, as the prices will blow your mind. On the left side of the store are bins of toys, DVDs, kitchen and home goods, and whatever else is hot that day. There’s a cheap furniture section, too. In the middle of the store are bins of books and shoes. All of the clothes are on the right.
Get a cart and sort through the stuff. If you’re willing to use your muscles and discerning eye, you will be rewarded. Pick through the bins and find your treasures. Our best finds have included beautiful handstitched linens, amazing brand name clothes (Pearl Izumi biking jersey, Lucky jeans, Hurley everything, to name a few recent gems), new DVDs and games.
There is a downside: this place can be grimy. Some people wear gloves to sort through the stuff; at the least, wash your hands after. But unlike the Goodwill Outlet in Seattle, people are respectful, even when new bins come out and everyone gets excited. In Seattle, someone will snatch stuff from your cart if you’re not careful. Here in Tacoma, we’re nice. And it’s not as crowded.
Almost everything at Goodwill Outlet is priced by the pound – make sure you really want the heavy things (they will weigh things invidisually if you ask. If you buy 10 pounds or less it’s $ 1.39 a pound, but once you get over 50 pounds – not as difficult as you would think – everything is 69 cents a pound. The prices here will ruin you for all other stores. They can only be matched by garage sales!
