The beef phở had good flavor but contained too much fat for my liking. The spring roll was okay but kinda bland and the peanut sauce was too thin(I like mine thick). Also, the spring roll was served in plastic wrap like I was ordering it togo(I wasn’t). The server(maybe the owner) was extremely courteous and professional. The worst part was the filthiness of the condiment containers. Yuck. Looked like they had never been washed before. I should’ve stuck with my usual phở place right around the corner :).

It was better, at one point. But it seemed like the owner stopped caring a while ago. Some of the food is premade, and even the premade stuff, like the Banh Bao, isn’t consistently«on the menu», even if it’s there. If you get here on a good day, the tea and pork is good. On a bad day you’ll end up with microwaved rice. It’s quite a shame, because the couple that owns the place are wonderful people.

Looking for Bahn mi sandwiches and ran into this place, definitely a great decision !!! Friendly customer service and delicious sandwiches! The egg rolls were also very pleasing, meaty and house made, definitely will be back !!

Been going to Kim Anh’s for over 20 years. I love the Lemongrass Chicken(ask for 5 stars, it’s best spicy), any of the Vermicelli Salads, Phở and Banh Xeo — they are all great. Their Chinese food like Sweet and Sour Chicken is amazing as they make it fresh so the batter coating is crispy and the chicken is juicy. This is a small mom and pop shop that has never let me down. Love the carafe of tea on the table too.

Consistently delicious food at an extremely reasonable price. I always send my boyfriend out for chicken phở when I’m sick and we order dinner here at least once a month.

Great phở! Some of the best I’ve had. The wonton soup was excellent as well. Hot tea on the tables was a nice touch, and the owner was very friendly.

Me and my friends have been coming to this restaurant since we were in middle school. Food was great and not too expensive. Environment was also great and not loud. The owner of the restaurant is nice. He always tries to make you feel comfortable and will always find a topic to talk about. I love it!

The friendliest people there. I have been their customer since 1993 I have been and always shall be their loyal customer. I travel to have their amazing cuisine all the way from DuPont sometimes. Great comfort food for a rainy or snowy, cloudy, cold day in Tacoma.

I was in desperate need for some hot soup for this cold that has been lingering all weekend. I called at 12:08 and ordered a large meatball phở with no onions and some fried egg rolls. He said it would be ready in 20 minutes. That’s kind of a long wait for phở, but I was okay with that since I just woke up and needed to freshen up. When I got there at 12:30, something didn’t feel right so I checked my order before leaving. Onions were both in the broth and packed on top of the noodles. I had to wait for a new order. I live right down the street and opened it as soon as I got home. The broth was smaller than I saw previously and it was warm instead of hot so I had to reboil it. The noodles were definitely a large though. The potions between the two made for more noodle than soup, which wasn’t what I was expecting. I will say, the egg rolls are really good here. But because the phở was mediocre and my main reason was to be able to enjoy some of the soup, I had to give this place a 2. Probably won’t be back.

I have eaten here about 10 times in the last year both at lunch and dinner. The food is above average. Selection average. Service very good.

We have been coming for years… We have watched the children grow up as long as our own. They know our orders with out us having to ask. The hot and sour soup is absolutely wonder. It is not fancy, but we have always felt welcome…

Bland bland bland!!! The phở and the Beijing beef just downright flavorless, what beef if any I could barely find two fork fulls of meat. The pot stickers must come frozen because like everything else they were bland. For the price we were paying we thought the food would be awesome! Way better places with way better prices in Tacoma! Not to mention the time we waited you would have thought they were doing it all from scratch, we couldn’t have been more wrong.

This is my new go-to for small portions, fresh, and healthy at a price low enough I can come often without spending like I’m dining out everyday. Conveniently located next to my school and work, I can pop in for a cup of soup and the tea is always complementary, right on your table, you don’t even have to request it. If you’re looking for healthy AND cheap(and relatively fast!), this is it.

This has to be the worst Vietnamese restaurant I’ve ever been to. Besides the food being less then mediocre, they were more concerned about our(husband and I) TCC student ids(to get a 10% off) then to bother looking at the name on the debit card I was using. Can’t believe I wasted my time on this place.

I went here randomly. I got a Vietnamese sandwich and fried rice. The pork on the sandwich was spoiled. It had gone bad. It wouldn’t have been good anyway. I will not be back here, which is too bad because the guy running it seemed so kind.

Love the hospitality when you first walk in. Seems like after that they sort of forget about you. I order a simple spring roll for a appetizer. Hence the word«appetizer» meaning something to tie me over before my food. Not served with my food.

The food here wasnlt priced to high. this was my husband’s and I first time here, it was about 8:30 p. m when we stopped in. It was just before work and we were hungry, so we looked over the menu and decided on. Appetizers: Egg rolls Pan fried pot stickers Meals: Teriyaki Chicken on a Stcick(Me) Peanut Crusted Fried Tofue(Hubby) When the appetizers came out, I tried one of the egg rolls and it was delicious, it being small it still packed a punch of flavor.(5 stars) The pan fried potstickers were good, but they didn’t tast very pan fried, more steamed. They had pretty good flavor, I was just expecting that crust you get from pan frying(4 stars) Now the main courses, my teriyaki chicken came on a bed of steamed veges, with a bowl of white rice. The chicken was good, moist, it could have used a little more flavor. I put hoison sauce on it and that worked a bit, the steamed veges were perfectly steeped and delicious. The rice was very good as well.(4 stars) My husband had ordered fried tofu that had a peanut crust, it came on a bed of veges with a bowl of white rice. I snagged a couple pieces of this and it was pretty darn good, the peanut sauce they brought with it could have been a little thicker with a little more flavor.(4.5 stars) The service was very good, our glasses were kept full with water, immediately upon sitting a huge pot of tea was brought out to us, which my husband loved a lot. We got there just before closing they they still served us which was awesome, the pricing was reasonable, the atmosphere was relaxing. I would like to come back again in the future to give this place another try, and hopefully 5 stars all across the board. :-)

On the recommendation of a work acquaintance, my wife and I tried this restaurant Friday for lunch. It was cold and empty, a little odd. The owner’s college age daughter was the only person working, and she seemed more absorbed with her homework than serving us. As a father, I can’t criticize her priorities, she should be studying rather than waiting tables. We ordered the crispy egg rolls with pork, the banh bao, beef phở and curry chicken soup with vermicelli. Everything was OK, but not notable. The bao was microwaved, the fish sauce with the egg roll was bland, the beef in the phở was boiled brisket, and the chicken in the curry soup was tough and chewy. Both broths were very good, a saving grace. Probably not a candidate for a return visit. Although they have hot tea on the tables, the tea is a bulk jasmine without much flavor, and the condiments on the table look dangerously old and desiccated.

Went today for the first time. I had«hot garlic chicken.» It was delicious – nothing fancy, but really great eating. I got the smaller size($ 7) and asked for medium spicy; it had a nice amount of spiciness, which is pleasant since usually«medium spicy» turns out mild. Good price, good portion size. My partner had one of the soups and raved about it. He’s fighting off a cold and said it was perfect. Bonus: thermoses of hot tea on the tables waiting for you. Bonus #2: the server seemed taciturn at first but turned out to be super nice, brought my little daughter an orange, played peekaboo(with her! not me!) discreetly from the kitchen. Very sweet. I liked the décor, too – kind of tutti-frutti lights. Altogether a really nice experience, and the menu had many intriguing items.

Kim Anh has been a staple in our family’s outing rotation for as long as I can remember. We’ve watched the owner and his family grow up parallel to ours. The service is always great, and the food is delicious. By no means is this place fancy, but that’s not what it’s meant to be. The recent remodel has removed the kitchy feel from the Tasha’s review. The lighting is a bit dimmer. The entire place is less bland, a bit cozier. We’ve never been disappointed coming to Kim Anh. It’s the perfect family-owned small restaurant. A few specific tips: Yea, the spring rolls come saran wrapped. I don’t know why. I don’t care. They’re absolutely fresh and incredibly tasty. Try one and you’ll understand. I always get the chicken fried rice. I realize it’s kind of a cop out, but that’s what I got as a kid, and that’s what I still get, because it is fantastic. You’ll have leftovers, even with the«small» portion size. Don’t bother with the phở. The only reason they advertise it is because of the recent phở craze.
