We had lunch here and the food was great. I was impressed by the size and quality of the shrimp used in my po’ boy sandwich. They really made the sandwich as it wasn’t mostly fried breading but shrimp meat. My fiancé loved her food as well.

We love Laura’s!!! Such amazing fish & chips, and a wonderful, no frills breakfast. I love a good thin omelet(you know what I’m talking about) and they have perfected it. Their happy hour is an amazing deal, and if you’re lucky enough to get a window seat, you get a view of the bay. It’s not much to look at on the inside, but they make up for it in genuine service and preparation of their food.

We came here for breakfast and had the Eggs Benedict and French Toast. Both were fabulous! We sat at a table with a nice little view. Our waitress was awesome. The atmosphere was clean and nicely done. It’s nothing super fancy but quant. We will definitely be back!

So want to like this place because we live in the neighborhood. Went for brunch. The space is not inviting — kind of junky. i am sure that the deck helps out in the summer. Could be made really cool. Hashbrowns luke warm. Fried eggs cooked in vinegar but not in a «gourmet» way, just gross and sour; also did not get the over medium(still runny). Veggie omelet just o.k., nothing special. Same as say Denny’s. If i’m going to sped 10 –12 bucks on a bfast plate, i want more. Was at Marsha’s Silver Spoon last weekend, bill was the same, bfast 50times better. Wish someone would make this place really good. The location rocks!

Unilocaled this place looking for a local venue we hadn’t yet tried. Surprised and very pleased with our selections: flat iron steak and fish & chips, both were mentioned as house favorites. The Butternut Hash and Brussels sprouts sides were flavorful and very good. Also had the mushroom, potatoes and spinach gratin — again; really good! We definitely be returning.

Unclear what the past bad reviews were about. Service efficient, friendly and expedient. Refilled drinks without prompting. Food came out in reasonable time for freshly cooked meal. Raining tonight but would try the open deck in future. Floor plan is wierd but I guess they made best with what they had.

My husband just started a new job down the street, so naturally he wants to try out everything in the neighborhood. I was on Unilocal and noticed Laura’s had some pretty decent reviews so we decided to give it a shot! It was Saturday early afternoon, not too busy and a great day to sit on the patio to take in the view of the water. There was one waitress/bartender/do it all lady working and she was Johnny on the spot! Seriously! Her name was Thedius(if I butchered your name, sorry!) anyway, I was really in the mood for a mojito, but they didn’t have have any mint. Bummer, but def not a deal breaker. I let her whip some concoction up for me that was strrooonnngggg! It was a little too sweet for my liking. I tried to drink it, but she saw I was having a hard time. No questions asked, she brought me another drink free of charge! We ordered our food, she was knowledgeable about the menu and stopped by our table often. I ordered the shrimp po boy which was really good! Less is more with this dish! The shrimp were just lightly battered in cornmeal based batter so you really got the taste of the shrimp and not fried greasyness! The fries were great too! My husband got the burger(can’t recall the name) but it was something jalapeño… I don’t even fancy jalapeños and the burger was AWESOME! Everything was great here. I can’t imagine anything being bad like some reviewers state. This woman is a keeper! She had great customer service skills, and I can appreciate that! The only thing I would gripe about is the restroom. They could be updated, even a new coat of paint would be nice. All in all it was a great experience, we’ll be back for sure and I’m sure my husband will be by for lunch quite often! :)

Place has so much potential. The view of the Puget sound is just stunning. The night I went there was 1 server for the whole place. I felt that the menu was limited and overpriced. Butthe food was good and the fish and chips was pretty awesome.

There are two reasons to go here: 1) Their fish and chips(perfectly crisp breaded cod) 2) The view. Cons: Service was extremely slow even though there was only one other table. The helping of fish was small for the price. We were all still hungry after finishing. When we asked the waitress what kind of coffee they had, she looked puzzled and answered«ground.» She was good enough to give us a taste, but it was a definite thumbs down. We would not return.

Here is our experience with this restaurant. Showed up for lunch, seated ourselves. 15 minutes later the waitress came and asked what we wanted to drink. We ordered coffee. She brought the coffee out and took our order. That was the last time we saw the waitress for over an hour. We saw only two other tables in the restaurant that had people seated. No one came to check on us, re-fill our coffee, bring us water, let us know our order was coming(or if it had even been placed), or even bring us silverware/spoons for the coffee. After waiting an hour we got up and left. Ran into the waitress on our way out sitting at the bar. She said simply«tired of waiting? have a good day». She waved, then she went back to polishing her glasses for the empty restaurant. I got the impression that this happens alot. Never coming back here again. Ended up at a Shari’s down the road… which actually had great service compared to this place.

Can’t say enough about how the new chef makes a huge difference. I had the flat iron steak, which was perfectly cooked medium rare on top of a tasty carrot purée and shredded Brussel sprouts with some zing. The cauliflower/potato gratin side is a must add. My wife had the excellent braised beef cheek bolognese. Huge chunks of tender beef with penne in a bolognese sauce. Yum

My husband and I were looking for a place that was good, laid back and not super expensive. This place was perfect! We sat on the patio and were able to see wonderful views, the server(I didn’t catch his name) was prompt and knowledgeable of the menu and specials. I ordered the daily special which was fried catfish and fries. My husband ordered the linguini with mussels. Both of our meals were absolutely delicious. The catfish was perfectly fried. It’s hard to gush about french fries but oh my goodness these fries were so good and they tasted very fresh. Perfectly fried as well. The only criticism I have is I wish I had received two catfish fillets instead of one because it was so good. lol. We went at 5:00 pm on a Friday and it wasn’t that busy at all, we enjoyed being able to have a conversation while enjoying great food with relaxing views. We will be back!

Came here about a year ago to check out the patio overlooking the water and try out the menu. Was fairly unimpressed with the food as well the patio seating and table situation. Costco style folding tables used for volcano science projects gone wrong and your typical flimsy green plastic backed chairs grandma had on her patio for that Sunday afternoon. I recently heard that a chef that I really liked had been hired and reinvented their menu. With that my wife and I made it out for round 2. Luckily the new chef was on shift so I’m sure the menu will not disappoint. The fish and chips were fantastic and such huge portions. My wife had an incredible chicken gargonzola over a bed of Brussels and bacon with a tender and creamy potato gratin. However, the same tables and chairs are still in place. I would absolutely recommend this spot and the brunch is the next on the list to check out. They really just need to do some updating and maybe spend some time and money on the patio décor.

We felt very welcomed at this place. Especially so because of wanting to be outside on a sunny(but cold in the shade) day, and I was thinking, «If only I had a jacket, this would be so nice.» When the waiter came out next and without prompting, offered me his warm jacket, it was just so sweet. The kind of service that I thought was lost in a bygone day… Apparently, it still exists in Tacoma! The food is fresh, made to order, perfect portions, and may take a little longer than chain restaurants, but the quality is worth the wait. I saw in Tacoma weekly that there is a new chef coming and making some changes to the menu, but not yet for our visit… Will definitely come back and check that out too.(will come after noon to get more sun!) You get expensive views of the sound here without the high-priced bill :)

Great views on a sunny warm day, especially great for breakfast or brunch. I have always loved the flat iron steak as my go to. Their fish and chips are to die for. There are brand new menu specials rolling out I am excited to try. For dessert I highly recommend the PB& J cristo bites, I regret not taking a photo.

This place is great. My girlfriend and I came in around 3 o’clock in the afternoon and got a spot by the window where we had a great view of the water. We started with some absolutely delicious baked potato soup. My girlfriend got a classic ham sammy and I got a triple decker club. Both were very fresh and very large portions at a very good price. The gentlemen working was very polite and informative. I think we found our new daytime lunch spot especially for this upcoming spring and summer being that they have the best outdoor seating area in Tacoma. Cant wait to try the dinner menu. Cheers!

Gooooooood… heavens. I’ve never experienced slower service in my LIFE! We got here at 745 and weren’t able to order food until 815. A half hour is a long time to wait to even order when you’re starving! There’s one server for the entire place. Maybe it was an off night? The food was actually decent. We started with their Brie and garlic appetizer, which was good. The garlic was roasted perfectly. I then got the chicken parmigiana with a baked potato. I asked for butter, bacon and cheese on the potato and had to ask a second time once the food was received because it was not correct. The food was, again, decent. But definitely not worth the nearly two hours I was there. The friend that dragged me there states they have great breakfast… I’ll try it and revise my review if it’s any better!
