Was just in here, wanting to get lunch. Nope. I got ignored. Waited a few moments but the bartender was in no hurry to pay attention to me. So I’ve decided to go to a different spot down the street for some food

They over charged our tab by two beers, and when we brought up the mistake the blonde«manager» told us she would call the cops on us if we didn’t pay for it. She was completely unprofessional as a manager treating her regular customers like that. A bar tender ended up settling it out with her but I’ve never experienced service like that downtown here.

Cant go wrong with this place at all. The Italian Sub is excellent and is made better by the bread that is made on site. To add to that, the fries offer a perfect compliment to the meal. Great food all around.

Wow! What a treasure in Tacoma. Came for happy hour food but was lured by the sub sandwiches that the waiter recommended. Friend had the chicken parmesan and it was the most amazing thing! I had the Philly cheese steak and it was pretty good. Looking forward to trying some of the other ones next time. The best thing was the bread! It was the fluffiest of cloud pillows in your mouth. Supposedly they make their bread fresh everyday. Great atmosphere, good happy hour prices, and definitely will be something I do again when I’m in Tacoma!

I like the atmosphere in this bar but the staff was extremely rude to me and my friends. As soon as it turned 2 they took our drinks that were full and didn’t let us finish. They were so rushed and rude and I don’t really understand the meaning of it. It is illegal to sell alcohol after 2 I understand but not illegal to finish the beer you have already purchased prior to it being 2 am. Then they walked behind us telling us to get out and that we were the only ones in the bar which we weren’t. Felt like we were being literally being pushed out. I really did not enjoy this experience. I am a bartender myself so I understand trying to close on time but I do not treat or talk to my customers like this

I absolutely love the décor of this place! Everytime I have came here to eat I have enjoyed myself… The staff are well trained and polite, the music isn’t loud to the point you have to yell over it so your friends can here you and it is located in the less busy section of downtown Tacoma near Fireman’s Park.

My boyfriend and I used to love this place. Unfortunately the last time we went, we sat there for ten minutes waiting for the waitress. In that time she cleaned one table that was next to us, delivered drinks to a nearby table and served a couple that came in after us. The service was no where to be found. She never greeted us and brushed past us as if we were invisible. We will never be back. If the staff just ignores people as they come in then the establishment doesn’t deserve to be open.

Amazing burgers! The patty is hand formed and cooked to perfection. Honey mustard sauce for the fries is real honey. The bun is baked on site and super fresh the fries are crispy and not over cooked. Nathan was a great server who went above and beyond! Definite must revisit!

After discovering this spot on a whim while looking for an alternative to a nearby place running a huge wait, I’m glad we found our way in to Meconi’s. There was a decently sized crowd inside, all being attended to by a single server/bartender, however he was as efficient as a whole crew of servers at most other restaurants and he still managed to find the time to explain some of the establishment history, recommendations, and a tap list. The fare is typical bar food, don’t expect fine dining, but I had a pretty darned good Italian sandwich for a reasonable price. Overall our party left satisfied with the service and food(in both quality and portion). I’d recommend Meconi’s if you’re looking for an inexpensive, simple meal near downtown.

We go there at least twice a month. We have never had bad service, But did notice that the staff really hustles during games. They seemed friendly to us! We usually have beer and it’s priced reasonably. Drinks aren’t overly strong, but that’s okay with me. Food is good. We can split a sandwich or quesadilla for really inexpensive meal, they are huge. They have some really good nightly specials. We especially like their homemade coleslaw with fish and chips, or the homemade potato salad.

If you want to be ignored, not eat, and go thirsty for the entire night… then this is the place for you. I sit at the bar wanting to order food, seeing how I was hungry as hell from not eating the whole day. All other places were crowded and this was not, now I know why. Waitresses here feel like they are quenn shit of turd mountian and don’t pay attention to you unless you are either a regular or wear a shmedium shirt. I am writing the review still waiting for the staff to come and ask me if I want anything and it’s been 15 mins and counting. Stay away from this place if you haven’t been there before and not wearing a «too tight for me» shirt.

Ugh, we only went here because the wait at the Matador was an hour on Saturday night and we were starving. First of all, I will give them that the ambiance and the drinks are cool but the service and the food is GROSS. I would come here for drinks, if everything else was too crowded on Pac Ave… lol. Boyfriend got the fish and chips and the fish was microwaved and was soggy… His coleslaw tasted like vinegar? We straight up told the waitress it was nasty and she just kinda shrugged and asked if we wanted anything else and then walked away and proceeded to talk loudly /obnoxiously with the other waitresses by the bar. If I was her I still would have at least refreshed our drinks or tried to bring something out to make our experience better because we were obviously not pleased… But she did nothing. I had«The Parm» which was a chicken parmesan sandwich. It was blah. The bread was soggy, there was hardly any sauce on the sandwich and my sweet potato fries were very soggy. Our meal cost $ 35 with two entrees, a vodka soda, and a Mr. Pibb… Pretty expensive and for the quality of food? Disappointing. I mean I know we shouldn’t have been expecting too much based on prior Unilocal reviews but still. We ate maybe a quarter of our entrees and then went to The Met to get real food to get the taste of this place our of our mouths.

NEVERAGAIN!!! One extremely obnoxious customer apparently calls all the shots at this place. My husband and I went to Meconi’s on a Sunday afternoon to watch a Seattle Sounders game, have a couple of beers and enjoy a Meconi’s sub sandwich. Meconi’s website indicated that it was featuring the Sounders playoff game, so we figured it would be a great place to catch the match. We walked in about 20-minutes before game-time, and all TVs had football on them. I asked the bartender if they would be putting on the Sounders game, and she asked who the Sounders were.(She was new to the area, and wasn’t familiar with the sports teams yet — but was very nice and wanted to learn!). As I was saying this, a rumble came from the table behind me about changing the channel(on ONE of the 7 – 8 TVs Meconi’s has). Evidently, this couple did not want one single TV changed from football to soccer. I shared with them that even the Meconi’s website indicated they’d be featuring the soccer game!!! Their response was that they were going to call Dave, the owner. Trying to ignore them, we sat down in front of one of the smaller TVs, ordered a couple of beers, and settled in to wait to watch the game. At this time, this one grumbling man of the couple who said they were calling Dave walked up to the bar and began to berate and really read this new bartender the riot act!!! This poor girl was being verbally abused by a jerk of a customer over the fate of one television!!! His friend tried to calm him down, and said that she’d call Dave, the owner, to straighten things out. She left, and a moment later the bar phone rang — Dave was evidently on the phone with the bartender. She came and changed our one small TV to the Sounders game, but indicated that she would have to leave the football game on the other TVs and we wouldn’t be able to hear the Sounders game — she had been instructed to keep the sound on the football game. NOT ideal considering that Meconi’s had ADVERTISED that they would be FEATURING the SOCCER game. We ended up leaving after half a beer, not wanting to try to «enjoy» a soccer game on mute because of a fit thrown by a toxic customer acting like a toddler in his«terrible two’s.» DAVE — Please respond to this review because the situation escalated with this customer, and I think you should be aware of what he did to us after we left your bar. We have witnesses. I will never return to Meconi’s — a place I’ve enjoyed coming to in the past — for two main reasons: 1. Meconi’s falsely advertised featuring a sports event. Staff did not even know who the team was that they were supposed to be featuring. Simple solution, Meconi’s — engage with your staff! Help new out-of-area staff understand the sports teams.(Your bartender was EXTREMELY friendly, and wanted to learn who the Sounders were.) If you’re going to advertise that you are giving special billing to a featured sporting event, be prepared to DELIVER and SHOW the featured sporting event in a way that customers can see ANDHEAR! 2. Meconi’s owner let ONETOXICCUSTOMER dictate how he runs the show and treated all of his other customers!!! For some reason, Dave, the owner, You felt like you needed to placate and kowtow to this one jerk. Dave — if you heard how poorly this customer treated your new bartender, and what he verbally put her through, you would ask this customer not to come back to your bar. I was truly embarrassed for your bartender, who ended up apologizing to us for what happened — when it was NEVERHERFAULT(we told her so!!).

This place is a nice atmosphere however, I will never order food from Meconi’s. The beef sliders tasted like low grade soy meat or frozen pre made patties. How hard is it to buy fresh ground beef? It’s actually probably cheaper. I don’t think any of the food is authentic. Everything is either frozen or from a can. The nachos were even burnt. Attention owner: Please make fresh food. Maybe you should watch restaurant impossible. No one wants processed food.

Sports Bar, yeah… Get it, got it, good. That said it is the spot for real Seahawks fun. Apparently there are other football teams and I hear they’ll show their games here too, but who really cares. Bartenders here are fast and know how to pour a good drink. Food hits the spot. The menu certainly has weaknesses but it’s a sports bar. Don’t like something you order? Grow a pair and tell your server, they’ll happily replace it. Sandwiches here are good and the full size ones are enough for three. Pool Table, darts, pin ball, and air hockey in the back. Ask any regular how to unstick the air hockey puck when it happens. Trust me, it’s gonna get stuck. The crowd here is your average blue collar tacoma drinkers club of all ages. Expect to make friends.

I went here for the first time yesterday. I’ve always wanted to try this place out as its in a great location and the atmosphere is nice. However, after yesterday, I won’t be coming back as the food is beyond terrible. First — I ordered the beef sliders and fries. The buns on the sliders were cold and they looked more unappetizing than a McDonald’s burger. The worst part is after I bit into the burger, I noticed a long piece of hair in my mouth. Actually, before I even ate, I asked the server if I could have ketchup for the sliders. She then pointed to the side of ketchup that came with the fries and said I could use that. Really? Do they not have ketchup bottles here? I then showed my server the long piece of hair and then decided to order something else(bowl of chili with a side of cornbread). The chili tasted like it was from a can and the cornbread? I really don’t think it was cornbread but if it was, it looked like it was 3 days old and it had no flavor whatsoever. I was extremely disappointed to say the least. I thought our server would’ve atleast offered a free dessert or something complimentary due to the hair in my sandwich but that wasn’t the case. My friend paid for dinner which was a good thing because had I paid for it, I would’ve definitely asked to speak with a manager.

This is one of the best places to go in downtown Tacoma if you’re looking for a great food and drink selection that won’t cost you a ton on your night out. The staff have always provded fantastic service and it is a place where it is lively but you and your friends can always find a table. They have good happy hour deals during the week and trivia so usually there is always something fun to do. And since it is connected to the Meconi’s sub shops in the Olympia area, you can get your sub fix minus the commute!

Out for a Sunday stroll? Found this place and exceeded all expectations! Must try the chili… This is homemade hearty chili… Had the Italian cold cut and the sausage sub. Bread was light and you can taste the real flavors of the sauce and meat… To the light seasoning and cold cuts… Must try…

It was Friday. 5pm. Happy hour. We were expecting this place to be extremely packed, to our surprise it wasn’t! Service was fast, food was delicious, portions are big, cost is cheap! Highly recommend the parmesan garlic fries with a side of breath mints! ;)
