First off I’ve driven by this place many a time and it always looks closed. They have weird hours and are closed Monday and Tuesday. Parking is a nightmare. Upon entering the place I had high hopes. It smelled like good food and was nicer inside than I would’ve thought. I got corned beef hash. The hash looked like mashed potatoes with pieces of fried bologna, green peppers, and onions thrown in. Not anything like typical corned beef hash. There was a huge portion though; however the food was highly lacking in flavor. The jam for my burned toast looked like a melted popsicle. My dining companion had biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were soft and tasty, but the gravy was an orange color. It was gelatinous and the flavor was near a seafood flavor. Made us wonder what the meat was. I was highly disappointed; however I might try it again just to give it a chance… Wondering if it was so bad because it was busy lunch time on Friday?

The service was fast and friendly. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. I wasn’t that impressed. The homemade biscuit were good. The gravy was bland and a little gritty. Maybe to much flour. I ordered my eggs over easy and the yolks were hard. The hash browns were slightly burnt and not really cooked in the middle. Maybe the grill was to hot.

Came in for lunch after hearing everyone in the area rave about this spot. The staff was very friendly and quick considering I was in, fed, out and back to work in 30 minutes. The menu is small, mainly breakfast which is served all day with a few lunch options. I had the Reuben sandwich and potato salad as my side for $ 8.99. The sandwich was tasty and they definitely don’t skimp on the meat that’s for sure. The potato salad was very good, and you could tell it was made in house. Overall a good experience, just wish their lunch menu had a few more options since I’m really not a big fan of breakfast food.

Love this place! Everything is homemade and never frozen. Friendly service and gluten free options. Even their gravy is gluten free. Made with cream and corn starch! Side salads are made with Romaine chopped lettuce not iceberg.(I’m not sure if people know the difference…) Homemade potato and cole slaw. Also soups are awesome! Fresh baked pastries that are wonderful! Place is always packed! Don’t miss out!

I was excited to see a new breakfast option in the neighborhood. Overall, the food was decent, although nothing we couldn’t make at home. I had the eggs Benedict and the hollandaise was plentiful, but more toward the lemon side than the butter side. I think they might just need more practice on that one. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were great, but gravy needed more seasoning. It had good consistency and a good amount of meet, but tasted like ultra plain white gravy. I’m glad to see someone in this spot, and we’ll give them another chance one day when we don’t feel like making breakfast. The oddest thing about the place was the size of the table. They could fit a lot more seating in the place, but they have huge booths with really wide tables. We had to sit on the same side of the table to keep from feeling like we needed to yell at each other.

Update: Back for lunch again, had a side salad and a burger. My salad was quite literally wilted iceberg lettuce and carrots, the burger was nothing extraordinary. It’s unlikely I’ll return.

We love this place and are really excited and happy to have another local choice. The food here is REAL not processed and frozen. I have seen some complaints about some of it, people need to realize you can’t compare this to most places because they do use fresh, not frozen, BIG difference. Have always had excellent service here too, another big bonus! My one wish is that they offered a chicken or turkey sandwich on their daily menu as not always in the mood for beef. My husband and daughter do cinnamon rolls dates every couple of months, they used to go to Cinnabon, now they go here, better cinnamon rolls(not overly sickening sweet) and much better atmosphere than the mall. Keep up the good work! **LOVE your French dip!!!**

Okay, there’s potential here for a great place to flourish. Location sucks, but it doesn’t help that the windows are broken(gun shots?). Inside, there’s missed opportunities. The tile work, beautiful. The bathroom is really artistic. The paint and décor, also fine. Cleanliness is not so great. The actual open kitchen and counter area is not attractive. The display case is filled with bread and buns being stored, rather than tasty baked goods. The counter is cluttered and cleaning supplies and sundries showing everywhere. As for the employees, there’s several. A young boy with a fur hat, two cooks, and a server/cashier. They all seem like amateurs. Unsure of their exact job. Cooks are slow, beverages are slow to get refills and they put way too much ice in the small glasses. Conversation with said employees was minimal. A small place like this should be putting forth the extra effort to be friendly and make you feel special, like family. They chat amongst themselves about laundry, how much money the restaurant made today, and plans for later. Finally, I’ll cover the food. The menu is basic. They were out of the daily special, yet still had all the ingredients for similar meals. The serving size was perfect! The prices decent. I honestly think that I could have cooked all of this stuff at home, but it’s nice to have a «home cooked meal» in a local restaurant, too. I had the biscuits and gravy. I loved the biscuits and the way they were grilled prior to being smothered in gravy. The color of the gravy was awkward and there were balls of cooked flour from cooking too quickly and not making a proper roux. The flavor was awesome though. Plenty of meaty chunks, too. They poured far too much on my plate, so it was over flowing. I’d rather have too much than too little. The eggs over medium were also perfect and hot. The hash browns were different. I’m not sure I liked them. Crispy on the outside and a mushy mashed potato inside. Maybe this is a southern method? Everything was seasoned well. My guy’s food was average. Bacon was salty and sausage was oily– most people can appreciate both of these characteristics. The strawberry spread for the toast was probably the best part of the meal. Homemade, I assume and super delish. I doubt we’ll be back, but glad we tried it. Best of luck and hopefully my criticisms were constructive.

I’ve now tried Midland Eatery twice and am still underwhelmed. I thought maybe a second time a few weeks later might help them adjust to a new place… Sadly the service is mediocre and the breakfast fare less than stellar. I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and hash browns. Everything needed seasoning! The hash browns were too crispy on the outside and soggy/mashed inside with no salt or seasoning. The sausage gravy was pretty good but could have used more seasoning. However, the price point is good. We bought cinnamon rolls to go and they were AWFUL! Undercooked and doughy tasting again lacking salt or cinnamon flavor. I couldn’t eat them! Disappointed in this family run local Midland find:/

The location for Midland Eatery has been vacant for years so Midland was really looking forward to something being there. Some of our neighbors posted on social media that they were impressed. We were looking forward to trying it but were sorely let down. It is ‘somewhat’ a diner style but the main options were 2 eggs, any style with hashbrowns and toast with a variation on each of a pancake, bacon/sausage, French toast, or biscuits and gravy… You could only get eggs Benedict on Saturdays and they offered no omelettes and nothing with cheese. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy but it LITERALLY had one ½″ piece of sausage link and was the consistency of syrup. It tasted a bit like flour, not gravy or sausage. I chose the 2 eggs with hashbrowns and toast and my choice of four links or for slices of bacon for $ 9(there was another ‘2 eggs, HB& toast with and option to ADD1 link or bacon for $ 8 — who would order that one??). The waitress didn’t ask which one I wanted and brought me bacon… I sent it back and while my plate was waiting for its sausage, it sat on the counter… Not even under a heart lamp. The waitress realized this and brought it back before it got too cold and brought the sausage our separately. We were not asked how we were doing, how our breakfast was, or acknowledged upon finishing. We will not be going back. This place has so much potential; I would consider a Menu fix, an adjustment on flavor and an improvement on friendliness and customer service. Because Midland Eatery is one of the very few restaurant options in the area, they can afford to take chances on big flavor — Bay Bistro has and they have done very, very well.
