Nantucket Gate

As my 9 month lease is ending soon, I wanted to write a review on Nantucket apts. I have really enjoyed living here. Good, quiet, respectful neighbors. The main office is always open especially later than most apartment offices. Staff is super helpful and so nice! Someone is always there to help you when needed. Good amenities available to you. Ive only had to call maintenance once or twice to come fix something and they usually come the same or next day. Very attentive. Good location. QFC is right down the road if you need anything and the freeway is right there as well. Great place to live!

Crooks, liars, and thieves. That’s what the people who run this place are. We rented the two bedroom corporate apartment for a two month business trip. The apartment is reasonable in both price and amenities. The parking is a nightmare.
Since our last week in the apartment was the first week of a new month, we were assured, both before and during our stay, that we would get a pro-​rated rent for that week and not pay the entire month. When we payed our rent, we were billed for the entire month but were told that it would be refunded at move out.
At move out, we were told that no one was in the office that could write us a check for the difference but that they would mail it to us. When I called a few days later to follow up, I was told that it was never the apartments policy to pro-​rate rents and that they would not refund the money. She also had the audacity to say that they knew there was an employee telling tenants that, but couldn’t get her to stop. THEY ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT.
Since it was a short term lease, we gave our move out date before we even arrived, and checked with the front office when we payed our rent, and confirmed our move out date twice before we left. Two months after we moved out we were contact by a collections agency and the apartment was claiming we owed $ 2,000 for failing to notify intent to vacate. They never once contacted us, by mail or phone, they simply went straight to collections. It took two weeks and several phone calls to the apartment to get them to drop it and stop the collection. They were nothing but rude throughout the entire ordeal and acted as if I was inconveniencing them by calling them out on their shoddy business practices. The next time I stay in Tacoma I’ll live in a tent before I stay here again.

Rating with Zero Star. We have not lived in this apartment complex but I’m simply writing this comment for the management… I am disappointed to hear that this management does not allow or give military family members chance to lease an apartment if the co-​signer is not in the state of WA. Our daughter who’s graduating from college and starting her first job is asking us to co– sign for her apartment but we both (parents) stationed overseas serving our men and women in uniform. We have excellent credit and willing to pay a bigger deposit or pay advance rent for our daughter’s apartment. However, this management elected not to or choose not to make any exceptions. Management would rather have someone — a stranger to co– sign for the apartment instead of taking a hefty deposit or advance payment from the parents who clearly qualifies for the apartment. We applied online and was told something went wrong but couldn’t tells us why. We found out what happened and it was fixed. However, the leasing office told us sorry we can’t help you. We have no families in WA… Really?!? It’s guaranteed rent and you know how to find us! Is this how you treat military members?

When I originally wrote this review it was far too long. Here is the shortened version.
The Good: Let’s start positive
Size/​shape — the apartment has a really appealing size and shape. 2 bedrooms/​2 baths were perfect for me, my wife, and our animals
Fitness center — When we moved in the gym was 24 hours and functional. As we moved out they remodeled and it transformed into a really nice gym. I miss that the most. Also forgot to mention full court indoor basketball.
Management — Half the management staff is awesome. There are two people and I was amazed at how helpful one was. On the move out inspection she helped me clean up a few troubled spots. Super nice and friendly
The office staff — Like the management half the office staff is super friendly and helpful. Two people specifically were super friendly and as helpful as they could be. Unfortunately, I think they lack some power and authority, but they did what they could and went above and beyond often.
Location — This apartment is in a perfect location. Right off of 512 between Puyallup and Tacoma. You have great options for food, shopping, etc. That is definitely the thing I miss the most. Ooh and right next to Frugal’s burgers. Go there if you have not before.
Online Portal — I could pay my rent online. I really like that.
The Bad: Oh no!
The Management — But wait you said they were good… one half of the management was awesome… the other half was very unpleasant. Every time I would talk to her she sounded rather exasperated to be communicating with me. In addition, she was very difficult to get a hold of and probably the most frustrating thing was I scheduled a move out inspection with her and verified the time. When I was at the apartment waiting she never showed. Luckily the assistant manager was there to save the day.
The office staff — Half the staff was awesome… the other half wasn’t terrible, just not great.
The complex — The complex is fine, large and the grounds look ok. There are 3 issues. 1. Everyone has a dog and no one cleans up after them. It’s gross. 2. One compacter everyone uses regularly becomes a giant pile of trash. Its awful and was an issue the entire time I lived there. 3. Parking is pretty hit or miss past 1030p.
God I almost forgot. I and others have had their parked cars hit while living there. No note or anything left. It was extremely frustrating and infuriating.
The neighbors — Speaking of the neighbors… like most apartments the biggest issue were our neighbors. They were loud all the time and no matter how many times I complained it never fixed anything. The neighbors on the side (99% of the time) were awesome. The ones above us sounded like a heard of elephants stomping all day and night. It was the worst…
Apartment quality — Speaking of noisy neighbors. The apartment quality at least ceiling to floor was very bad. We could literally hear our neighbors walking, jumping, stomping, vacuuming, getting into and out of bed, etc. It was terrible and so noisy. Additionally it was pretty cold during the winter… partly caused by a half inch space between the floor and the front door.
The pool — Do you enjoy the ice cold water? How about kids running and splashing all the time? Well maybe you enjoy limited swimming hours. Then this is the pool for you. The pool was like ice, definitely needs to be heated. The kids ran amuck. The hours were limited to office hours… oh except Mon-​Fri when the daycare has pool hours from 10−12… Oh and Fri and Sun nights when the office closes at 6(ish).
Communication — There was serious communication issues. From office closures to the gym opening again. My biggest issue was the close to stonewalled response I usually got from complaining about my neighbors. It was rather frustrating.
Paperwork — Oh man almost forgot. Like my last apartment I paid the pet deposit and like my last apartment they rolled it into my rent and I had to pay as I left. I would expect apartments to be capable of tracking deposits correctly.
Pet Deposit — apparently its a fee not a deposit. So it doesn’t help on the move out cost if your dog damaged the carpet.
TL:DR — Long and short the apartment was fine. Not good, but far from the worst. The management/​office was awesome and terrible. The amenities were ok. The complex was bad. The location is amazing. The neighbors were the worst. Communication was bad. They have bad office techniques. We had a fairly bad experience here. I don’t know if I would suggest this for anyone, but I don’t know if there is an apartment that I would ever suggest again.

Don’t move into these apartments. All 3 of the manager are rude. My apartment was dirty and full of dead bugs no one bother to clean my apartment. My master bathroom toliet was broke and it took them over two weeks to fix my toliet and that’s only because I had threaten to call their manager. The maintenance man stole some items of mine the very first night I was there. There is dog poop all over the stairs. And let’s not talk about parking. I’ve been here a lil over a month and hate it here. I believe stephanie is racist. She picks and choose who can do things and who cant… And I have spoke to other minority residents who live there and they said the same thing. I have not once seen security like they claim they have, people park in you space and nichole and the other managers act like they don’t care. Beware don’t move in… oh yea one more thing music is played all night and kids running up and down the stairs… move somewhere worth your money. As soon as my lease is up I’m gone… DON’T MOVE IN HERE

I’ve lived here for a year and a half and I’m very unimpressed with the management. They seem nice until you move in and are not very accommodating and rude. I live on ground level and hear every footstep of my loud upper neighbors and babies crying through my wall. I wouldn’t recommend this apartment to anyone, it’s expensive and not as nice as it seems. I just tried to enter the pool with more guests than allowed (I had no idea there was a limit) and the office lady’s approached was very confrontational. She rudely asked if I were a resident and demanded to know which apartment exactly, as if telling her I lived there weren’t enough. She could have simply told me her point but instead she made me feel so uncomfortable in front of my friends I just walked home and am writing this now. Every time I go into that office I get that impression from them.
So if you’d like to find a place where they don’t talk to you like a piece of crap, don’t rent here.

I’ve lived here for almost a year now and I have very few complaints. The apartments are very nice and definitely have been taken care of. There’s always someone making sure the grounds are kept clean and tidy. I give the looks of the place 5 stars.
The pool is so nice as well as the hot tub. I love the tanning and work out center. Our neighbors have never been an issue. I’ve heard them a few times but this is an apartment complex so I’m not complaining.
The only issues I’ve had was with my microwave. We’ve had the handle fixed twice but it’s still breaking. It’s not a big deal, but we’ve stopped having them fix it and just dealt with the broken handle. Another issue is we have friends over often that brought their dog a few times and someone complained about that, however they asked us about it and that was the end of it.
We need a bigger apartment but we are definitely considering staying here and just getting a different unit. I love the management and the complex overall.
