I’ve been going here for as long as I can remember. The customer service is pretty decent. They have the best bun mang vit and chao vit around. No matter where I go I always end up coming back here for those two entrees. My boyfriend had the bun thit nho ng and he liked it a lot. My nephew had the phở with meat balls and I think he liked it cause he finished the whole thing. The thing about this place is they’re not cheap on the meat. They give you a lot of meat. If I had one complaint it would be parking could be better.

This restaurant use to b one of the best in Tacoma, what happened. Took my lady to go eat phở and it was the nasties phở i ever ate. Bean sprouts were old and smelled, broth tasted like shit, noodles were mushy. Meat was thick. Very disappointed. Never eat there again. Was good in early 2000’s. Very dirty place and smells.

Ah, my family has been loyal customers of Nhu Thuy ever since they opened. Growing up in Tacoma, there were limited Vietnamese restaurants. When I moved up to Seattle for college, I experienced a lot better but Nhu Thuy deserves some credit. I recently stopped by with my family and had the duck congee. I mean it wasn’t as great as Huong Binh in Seattle but it satisfied my craving. 1. Phở is okay, the pork chop/rice entrée is good, the duck noodle/congee is decent. 2. Place could be cleaner. 3. Sometimes I wonder why my parents like their bun bo hue so much… It’s not good in my opinion. 0 to 100 reviews are real quick.

Went here once with my friend & I nearly threw up while eating cause the restaurant was very dirty & it reminded me of walking the streets of Vietnam. Decided to give it another chance with my bf cause the food looked very appetizing but right after we got our glasses of water my bf & I got up and left because the cups looked very yellow and mossy.

We order chicken phở, chicken phad thai, chicken vermicelli salad bowl and chicken lemongrass stirfry. The chicken that was use for our meal tasted old. Even my daughter wouldn’t eat it. Normally that’s her favorite part of the meal. I ate so many vietnamese food and this place comes first as being the worst place to eat. Service is a one star as well. Next time, I will have to stick to phở tai or vien doung instead.

Great, authentic cuisine. Friendly staff and extremely well prepared dishes. The phở is superb. This restaurant gets 3 stars even though I am content with there dished because I came down with food poisoning after they served me the wrong dish. But good food overall.

I think this must of been the worst takeout I have ever ordered. No, on second thought, ITISTHEWORST. I really wanted this restaurant to wow me, but it didn’t. Since I was a newbi with Vietnamese food, I asked the«manager» for suggestions. He was very helpful. After a couple of minutes my order was ready and I hopped back into my car, driving home faster than angels can fly to enjoy our«Authentic Asian Cuisine». As soon as I opened the takeout box, I knew we were in trouble. The veggies were limp and colorless. But not wanting to give up, my wife and I bravely began to eat. It was tasteless. My adult daughter happened to drop in and we showed her our meals. It took her only a second to determine why these meals were so disappointing. «Dad,» she said,“these were microwaved, and not cooked in a wok.” I think she hit the nail right on the head.

This was the 2nd time coming here. I enjoyed the food. Especially their bun thit nuong. The service was fast since it was just me and my cousin there.

Stopped in for lunch. Got the grilled pork chop with egg over easy. Best ever cooked egg. Perfect. Wife got the seafood phở. Unbeatable. More varieties to choose from than most Vietnamese Rest. Will go back and recommend to my friends.

An empty location around dinner time is a sure sign that the food may be lacking. Despite that we still went. My first disappointment was that this place does not sell vietnamese sandwiches as it seems that all phở locations do. I usually don’t like to see two different ethnic food menus for one place as it feels like your location doesnt have consistancy. After ordering what should have been a large, filled to the rim I was disappointed with the lack of space to add the veggies and mix my bowl. Splash Splash soup on the table. The flavor of the phở was okay not amazing! I suggest getting bigger bowls and allowing room for mixing. I would probably not revisit but that was just my fail on this place.

Another typical Vietnamese resto. I ordered the Quail, which was good. However, my gf ordered the Bun Bo Hue, and a side order of egg rolls. Those dishes were ok. Too much lemon grass and the noodle wasn’t soft enough. I also ordered the avocado bubble tea, which was ok. It needed more sweetened condensed milk though. Maybe the Quail and other dishes were their specialty. I wouldn’t mind coming back for more, or trying their phở and other rice dishes. Because there’s quite a bit of good reviews for their phở, I’ll have my gf order that next time, or just go across the street for Phở Dragon. Sometimes restos specialize in certain dishes that really hit home. Decent and the usual service. Resto is quite clean though. Menu had some good looking dishes. It’s somewhat hard to find a Vietnamese resto that has so many authentic dishes. I would say this place was average, but worth a try.

Huge portions for a very reasonable price! You will definitely not leave here hungry. They are very generous and I definitely recommend the Bun Bo Hue, which is very spicy, but so good!

Every time I visit this establishment, I am treated to excellent customer service by the owner and his wife! The spring rolls are absolutely to die for, look amazing, and always come with the best peanut sauce! The chicken phở, the seafood phở, any phở we try has been incredible! Of all the places my significant other takes me to eat dinner, this is one of the best! I highly recommend it!

Pros: Bright, clean, and airy. Inexpensive dishes($ 6.50 — $ 15). Authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Good food. Open late until 9PM. Cons: Servers may not be professional and friendly. Good for: Casual lunch or dinner with family or close friends. Good place to enjoy Vietnamese food.

Um, this restaurant was closed down because they were buying meat on the cheap from homeless people who stole it from the grocery store by hiding it their pants. I am not kidding. And they were buying food stamps at half price. I live in the neighborhood, and the police officer who helped bust them told me. And I confirmed it by reading an article on the subject in the Tacoma News Tribune. Stick with Vien Dong on the corner!

when you come here make sure you only order the ca chien(fried fish) it comes with the canh chua ca(catfish soup) combo this place serves one of the best fried fish in town. I have yet to try any of their other dishes besides the spring rolls and that was completely garbage. I had to minus one star because who puts ginger inside a spring roll? Please stick to the recipe and do not stray away and try to get ‘creative’. But the fried fish is a MUST.

I really hate giving bad reviews, but they are necessary sometimes. I don’t live or frequent Tacoma often, but my friend and I came down here for an event at the Emerald Queen Casino and decided to find a quick bite to eat and since we both love Phở, we thought this would be a great spot based on the Unilocal reviews… Wrong. When we walked in we were the only ones there except some employees that were taking a break. The décor was terribly tacky(which I always expect at at Phở restaurant), so that was really the least of my concerns. There was a terrible odor of old fish, bleach and stale air. There were fish aquariums that were badly in need of cleaning because the fish were barely visible through the algae on the glass. We sat down and ordered our food. My friend got Phở and I ordered a vermicelli(bun) bowl with chicken and egg rolls. The service was neither bad nor good. Nothing too memorable which could be a good thing. I went to the restroom while I waited for the food to arrive, which seemed to take longer than it should. The bathroom was enough to make me want to run out right then and there. The women’s room stunk to high heavens and served doubly as a utility closet apparently because it was full of old mops, buckets and cleaners. The most off-putting part was that there was a sign above the toilet paper that read, «Do not throw any paper into the toilet.» with a garbage can under it. The garbage can was in addition to the one near the sink and was full of used wads of toilet paper which I could only guess what they had been used for. Was this why it smelled so bad? I couldn’t say, but it sure smelled that way… Nasty. the floors were filthy and were peeling up at the edges. I washed my hands with COLD water and felt contaminated and disgusting. So, on the way back to my table, walking by the kitchen I could only imagine that it was as clean as the toilets and my appetite was not what it was when I initially arrived. When the food came it was not impressive. I forced some of it down. My friend was not happy with her food either. We are usually both pretty easy to please. In a nutshell, I will not attempt to eat here again. Sorry.

Good phở joint. Flavorful soup. The amount of tendon was amazing to the point where I almost got sick. Noodle was nicely swimming in the soup — not something like you have to untangle really hard with chopsticks because they let the noodle sit in the bowl too long before poring the soup. I also ordered deep fried spring roll. Again, flavorful. With good amount of vegetables. Probably don’t even need the dipping sauce. But I prefer to drain the oil a bit more. Service was sufficient. Somehow the table was sticky but not dirty… I guess. Of course affordable — around $ 5 – 6 for phở.

I live in Olympia, so I spend a lot of time whimpering about delicious vegetarian phở and how I can’t get any. Unilocal’s reviews pointed me to Nhu Thuy in Tacoma, a mere half hour drive from my house. Extra bonus: the vegetarian phở doesn’t have tons of mushrooms(like Than bros). I don’t mind mushrooms, but my kid will puke if he accidentally eats one. Nhu Thuy is open until 9, so scuttle in at the proper dinner hour. The dining room has plenty of tables. The tables are a little crowded together, but it didn’t bother me since we were one of only a very, very few filled tables. There’s eclectic décor(including a ceramic gingerbread house in the front window …) alongside the traditional stuff you expect to see in a Vietnamese restaurant. Chopsticks & spoons come out with the food; kind of nice if you’re concerned about germs when your utensils live on the table. Our server was prompt and super friendly. We didn’t have any questions about the food, but I’m sure he would have been happy to help if need be. The food came out pretty quickly, but not so fast that I wouldn’t have believed that some care went into the preparation. There’s a full vegetarian menu, but we stuck to basics: egg rolls, spring rolls, phở. The rolls were acceptable but not noteworthy. The phở, however, SHAZAM! The broth was delicious, the tofu was so good and crispy-fried. The noodles were not crunchy OR gummy like glue. There were tons of veggies — cabbage, broccoli, carrots, etc — and they were all cooked exactly the way I like — not raw, but not soggy or overcooked. I really didn’t have a single complaint about the phở. Make no mistake about it: if this was any closer to my house I MIGHTEATHEREEVERYSINGLEDAY.
