WORSE Service. We purchased items and used self check out but the receipt came out BLANK. Cashier told us he couldnt do anything & to wait in customer service line. So now Customer Service tells us its not in our system. We showed them our online bank charge that we checked thinking we could finally get a receipt! But no told they still cant print us a receipt even though their machine broke and provided us will BLANK receipt. We asked what happens if we have to return items and they said just come in… but without a receipt! I cant tell you how ridiculous this is. I expect a call from/​to corp Home Depot Office. Terrible service!

Unbelievable terrible customer service. We tried to purchase paint yesterday and their system kept freezing and cancelling the credit card transactions and they made it seem like it was our fault. We called the credit card company and they said there is no problem with the credit card and it must be on the merchant’s side. We spent an hour trying different registers (and different credit cards that have plenty of available balance) while being treated poorly and their «head» cashier Kim was rude and did not offer solutions and we were treated rudely for the 10% military discount that they offer. Asked for a manager and they said manager was on lunch. Asked if they could keep the paint (custom mixed 23 gallons) and call us when they fix their issue and they told us they could not keep/​hold the paint and it is not their problem…
We will go today and buy the paint with cash and will never again return to this store.

Went to exchange an item in returns and during the process while using payment machine they seem to screwed up my debit card. Found out it locked it out my debit card during the many attempts. Either the payment card machine is bad or the employee screwed up something in the process. Now i have to go to the bank to fix the problem… big waste of time. Oh i try to use the card while paying for groceries (the next day) and couldn’t process it… that was an embarassment. So home depot locked out my card and cause me embarassment, thanks home depot!

Great store with nice selection and variety of appliances and all kinds of promo’s leading up to Black Friday … but poor job by Management of making sales folk available to «actually make» the sale! Hello ?
I waited around for half an hour only to find out that they 1-​not only don’t stock the hood they advertised but 2-can’t even order it on line. Blah !

After today’s visit to this particular Home Depot — which is the closest one to where I live — I’m ready to find a different store for my home improvement needs. I shopped in several departments and was not ONCE approached by a sales associate for help. And it wasn’t due to a lack of employees milling around. They just seem to avoid the customers.

Shameakah and Michael in the paint department were fabulous! I was on the hunt for chalk paint and was slightly shocked at how expensive it was. When they saw my reaction they told me that I could actually make it homemade for a fraction of the cost and showed me which supplies to buy. On top of being knowledgable they were also pleasant, friendly, and just plain fun! Thanks guys — my project turned out great thanks to you two!

Once again, great customer service at this home depot. The staff in the tool rental department genuinely want to help you get the right tool for the job. I went there on Sunday 10/​12/​2014 in the early morning. Thanks to the guys who helped me do a two man one day job by myself and finish in time to catch the second half of the Seahawks Game. Saved my back from much pain as well. Cheers!

Solid service and merchandise competitively priced as expected from all of the Home Depot stores. I like this store because it is closer to home and they seem to always have what I need in stock. Also, this store’s customer service is better than the nearby Lowes. This is the biggest reason why I shop here.
Overall rating is three stars. However, I give four stars for the electrician, Chris??, they have on staff. He Rocks!
The rest of the store members are solid three star performers. Good enough, but don’t try to ask them detailed technical questions. Their experiences range from low amateur to mostly experienced do it yourselfers. It is the luck of the draw the level of expertise you will get.
I buy my home improvement stuff here and seek knowledge from trade professionals elsewhere to use the stuff I brought.

I always go back to this particular location for the convenience of it being close to home. However, after the past 2 times I’m done giving them a chance. The staff are rude, not helpful & if I need help I can’t find an employee anywhere.
Today I overheard a elderly lady ask a staff member something about plumbing after she frantically waved her arms to get his attention. He then stated he didn’t do plumbing but wood & she would need to go to the plumbing dept to find someone to help her.
When I go to the 72^nd location in Tacoma I am never disappointed and for future Home Depot endeavors will drive the extra for good customer service.

Can’t get anyone to answer the phone!!! Hung up on once by the answering system, because of inactivity. They don’t have the department I wanted (Equipment Rental), so when you select «0» to try to get a human, it tells you that is an improper selection. I called back and selected a random number, which was not answered and had to wait on hold listening to garbled home depot advertisements. When I finally was able to speak to a human, she was nice and transferred me to equipment rentals. I told here how I felt about the abysmal phone system that they had, and her response was «I know, I am so sorry». I felt bad that the stores employees know how horrible their phone service is and obviously has had to deal with angry people that select her number (#1 on the 1^st options menu, must suck to answer that phone!!!). I thanked her for answering my call and her professionalism (I want to hire people like her for my company, Home Depot doesn’t deserve her). Once there, I asked how to reserve a jack-​hammer. Was told «You don’t need reservations because we have tons of them». When I informed him that they didn’t have any last weekend when I tried to rent one, he stated «We don’t take reservations, its first come first served». Web-​Site does not have the extension numbers to reach all of the stores departments, so I wonder why these extension numbers are «Top Secret» from customers, the ones that keep their store open. Did I get what I wanted, that I was willing to pay for and was in their store??? Noooooooo. Why are you in business??? Looks like the reviews are very similar. Check Google review on this location as well. Seems like someone has a major phone issue!

We’ve haven’t had too many good experiences at this location. It’s unfortunate that a only a couple of the employees know anything about the product that they carry there. Coming from a retail/​customer service background, it is my ultimate pet peeve when someone points you in the direction of where an item MIGHT be. I’ve gone down several isles before finding what I came there for (almost every time I go there).
I was shocked when no one knew what wood chips were. Also, there was an employee who said they didn’t have what we wanted in stock. It said online that this location had over 50 in their inventory. Finally after we had found it just stored above, someone came and got it down and then expected us to take the plastic wrap off… Horrible service. Another time, we were getting window blinds, we were excited to put them up in our office. Then we came to find that the lady cut them wrong! She even wrote the correct measurement on the box.
The last time we came in, it was because we had a leak in our basement and made a trip there around 850 pm. I completely understand that they are closing soon and I hate being that person holding up the store… But the staff working that night were terrible! If you want us to leave then help us find what we are looking for, instead of standing by the cash wrap complaining! We wanted to get out of their hair and straight to our emergency at home. Someone finally found what we needed. But we had to go through the trouble of scrambling all over the store while the staff stood there complaining that we were taking up their time.
We will start going to Lowes and McLendon’s from now on.

As I would expect from Home Depot… Walked in with an unusual need and they found me a solution. Friendly staff, knowledgeable and ready to help. Will come back and recommend

Nora is the rudest customer service ever.

There’s something about this Home Depot that’s a little forlorn. I can’t quite figure out what it is but it just seems a little sadder than most. Maybe it’s because, as an apartment dweller, I always visit when something weird is needed or broken.
I remember when this location was built, right across from the recently-Eagle-now-Lowe’s Hardware — it seemed an odd choice, given how much of the 253 landscape doesn’t have a hardware store.
When I visited today, I found employees clustered in the front, with customers helping each other out throughout the store. I was looking for something fairly simple (plumber’s tape) and had to visit three likely aisles to find it — and finally found it in a floating island in the middle of an aisle. Weird.
They had a very limited selection of paint chips available — I’ve seen more in Fred Meyer. The floor is arranged in such a way that you only find something if you’re specifically looking for it — this is not the store to come to for browsing grills or lawnmowers, and so forth. You’d be better served at the 72^nd location or a number of other local chains.
If you need something in a pinch, this will get you fixed up. If you’re looking to shop for something, need help, or only have a general idea what you need, go elsewhere.

I was helping my dad make a bed frame for my sister’s new mattress. We hit up this Home Depot October 2^nd, 2012. My dad went to the lumber department and I went to the paint department.
When it was my turn at the «order here» side of the counter I told the lady that I had picked a color and I’m supposed to get a quart of self-​priming paint. She asked me if I meant primer and paint in one, like I had made up the term «self-​primer». I pointed to the poster above the Behr paint samples and said right up there is a picture of self-​priming paint, I’d like a quart of that.
Then she asked me what finish. I told her I have never ordered paint before so I don’t know what the options are. After an eye roll she listed off flat, egg shell, satin, or glossy. I said I was making a bed frame and I wasn’t sure if it needed to be glossy. Then FINALLY a man behind the counter chimed in. He said that a paint with some gloss would be better than flat because I am painting furniture. I was so grateful that someone behind the counter was showing interest in my project and had something helpful to say in a non-​condacending way. He told me that it’s their job to ask me what I’m painting and help. I was not getting that vibe from JUDY.
After selecting a finish I watched Judy work on a computer. I wasn’t sure if I was done or not but it was clear when she looked up and told me to go to the other side of the counter. I stood there waiting and waiting. My dad found the lumber he needed and met me by the paint counter. He asked me if my paint was ready– I asked the nice guy behind the counter. He saw my paint sitting there and handed it to me.
I never left the paint counter. I was standing right there. I was never told «this can is yours» or anything. Judy saw me waiting. She put my can of paint on the counter and didn’t alert me.
I work in retail and I understand that everyone has bad days. I understand that my questions could have seemed self-​explanitory to someone who works with paint everyday. BUT as someone who works in retail, I also understand the importance of customer service. Judy was rude, short spoken, and condescending. If this was a unique experience then fine. I hope Judy was nice to someone today.
On a happier note, my dad had an excellent experience in the lumber department. MIKEY #5 cut the lumber for him at no charge. My dad said he was incredibly kind. Now THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE. (My dad said his apron said Mikey #5, he was tall with dark hair). He should give Judy customer service lessons.

If you want decent help, in general you should save yourself the hassle of stopping at Lowe’s and go across the street to the Home Depot. At the nearby Lowe’s, help is hard to find, and knowledgable help even more difficult. The staff at HD take the time to get to know their store department, and can usually give helpful advice. I can’t give them five stars, though, because a recent trip had a hassle or 2 more than it should have. I asked in the plumbing department for some thoughts on a leaking feed line. The lady who helped me said she didn’t work in plumbing, but knew exactly what was going on with my feed line. I told her I didn’t mind waiting for the plumbing person, because I’d had it go wrong a couple of times and I didn’t have time to make a trip back and get it wrong again. She insisted she knew what the problem was, I foolishly took her advice, and of course ended up back there with the same problem, spent twice as much money and twice as much time. Customer service workers of the world: If your customer says they don’t mind waiting for the expert, just get them the expert. Otherwise you have a cranky customer who just got sprayed (again) in the face with water, only lives 20 minutes away and you’re faced with them again in a very short time when your bad advice turns out wrong.
Anyway, other than that one experience, this home depot has been very good to me.

i like home depot more than other stores. they are usually helpful and have what i need. This tacoma store is the exception. i was given the wrong paint color twice, and the paint guy refused to admit that it was the wrong color.
If you need something quick get it here. if you need something specific or help deciding, head to home depot in lacey or puyallup.

I need a break from painting… so I figure a review is in order.
Let me start by saying I have a love/​hate relationship with The Home Depot!
By going in here always means you have a s$!t load of work ahead of you! I can honestly say I have been there more this last weekend than I want to admit. After an imprompto bathroom remodel, this place is a staple for our remodeling needs.
As for customer service, it isn’t the best… but it works. For instance, I asked where I could find anchor screws and the dude just said «Aisle 34» And my response to that… let me find someone else who can show me what in sam’s hill it even looks like.
So that is about it. And I hope my last trip was my last for a while!
