Dr. Buckton and Dr. H. are the best! Besides being extremely knowledgeable, they are extremely accommodating and they truly care about your animals. The folks who work here are truly caring. My dog got out and was found and dropped off at Burton Creek Animal hospital late Saturday afternoon. The office was closing at 5pm and I was 15 miles away on a bike ride. They stayed there and took the best care of my dog Lucy until I got there at 5:30 pm. I can’t thank the front desk and nurses enough.

Dr. Buckton is a highly competent, thoroughly professional veterinarian. Staff at BCVC is exceptional. Dr. B. repaired our whippet after he lost fight with momma bear; and, gave a reassuring second opinion following vestibular syndrome. Never over treatment. Minimal medications. Trustworthy. Burton Creek Vet Clinic & Dr. Buckton are the best.

While recently on vacation in Tahoe our Shih Tzu became very lethargic and wouldn’t eat. Not a fun situation to be in when you’re on vacation. We took her to Dr. Buckton and he and his staff were amazing. He diagnosed her with Pancreatitis and took the time to explain all options and showed genuine care for our pet. The staff was very friendly and patient. I would certainly recommend them to anyone. Thank you for saving our doggies life!

Best Pet Doctor around. He has helped me numerous times with my sick cats. Today, Dr. Brian was able to help out my dental assistant with an emergency with her dog. He is extremely competent and caring… the best doc in North Lake Tahoe!

Been taking our new puppy here for a few weeks now. Unfortunately haven’t had the best luck health wise her, but the Vet Techs and Dr. Greg H. have been amazing here! Honest and straightforward, we have felt very comfortable leaving our dog in their hands!

I have now been to burton creek animal clinic twice with my two dogs. all I know is there are vets out there that your dog is just another number. But not at Burton Creek! It’s like you can can tell everyone from the docs to the receptionist, their hearts are really in it. They’re just so kind and answer all your questions and concerns. It’s hard to find any business out there that offer the kind of service they do. A lot of times going to the vet isn’t a good day in fact for me it was the worst day but they really turned that around and it meant a lot.

When my beloved «Honey the Dog» became ill, I looked on Unilocal for a local veterinary clinic as I was away from home. From the first phone call, I felt like that there were very caring people at this place.
The receptionist/​office manager made us feel welcome upon arrival. Spoke with an intern that got my dogs vitals and then met with Dr. Buckton. This man was knowledgible, kind and clearly concerned about my best friend (furry child).
He gave me several options. Perhaps I made some poor decisions in retrospect. The truth is that Dr. Buckton is a true professional with a warm heart.

I have taken my lab here since he was a brand new puppy. They have been mostly helpful, but when I really need them, they are not always available. My dog had a serious problem this week, he was bleeding from his behind. We called Burton creek immediately to have someone look at our dog. We were told that he was not sick enough for them to see him, even though he was bleeding. They could see him in 3 days, and could not give referral to anyone who could help right away. I have been taking my dog there for 4 years. and they could not make a little time to see him or even refer us to someone who could help. We found Agate Bay animal hospital on Unilocal,Dr Bree Montana, who saw our dog immediately, diagnosed him with bleeding stomach and intestines and prescribed several medications. Several days later, our dog is starting to feel better.
We were talking with others who have had similar issues with Burton Creek.
I will be taking our dog to Agate Bay animal hospital from now on. Dr Montana saved our dog when Burton Creek would not help us.

We just moved from Tahoe to the Bay Area, and my worries about finding a new vet, are only made worse because we just left such an amazing one!

I read the reviews of others online, before calling to setup an appointment for my pooch, and actually thought «there’s no way he’s this good». Well, apparently there is a way he’s that good! ;) I left feeling lucky I was able to find such a knowledgeable, skilled and friendly veterinarian.
Dr. Buckton does indeed have an amazing «dog whisperer» type demeanor with animals (as well as their owners), and someone whom once you meet and have treat your animal, you immediately know you’ve made the right decision!

Dr. Buckton and his staff the best! When our boy Sazerac was bitten by a spider with eyes swollen like doughnuts they were able to see us and treat Saz. The clinic is always clean and professional. We will always bring our dogs there

Dr Buckton and staff are truly amazing. The office is warm and friendly. They genuinely love what they do and it shows. Our pup gnawed on rat poison he found in the cabin we were renting in Tahoma during spring break. Dr Buckton squeezed us in first thing. Thank you!

I have asked around for recommendations for a new vet closer to my home and I kept hearing Burton Creek Vet over and over from my friends. Took my dog in for a skin irritation and a refill on some pills and Dr. Buckton was awesome! My dog is 13 and I’ve had a few vets because we’ve moved around, and I can say this place is 2 thumbs up and well priced. Nice staff, comfy waiting room, and Dr took his time examining my dog and answering my questions.

Dr. Brian is wonderful and really cares. He really knows what he is doing and suggest great cost effective alternatives to simple issues.

Living in the Truckee/​Tahoe area for 25 years, and owning a dozen dogs during this time-​my canines have pretty much sampled each clinic at one time or another. The Good are few. Some Vets moved and sold their business or brought in other Vets to take most of the hospitals workload once the owner started making good money. That is when it seems the original owner/​vet stops truly caring for the animal they are paid to treat or the feeling of the owner. The Vets they hire are over worked, and don’t come across as being very happy with their workload or the situation of working for another Vet. That’s 90% of the Vets working now.
Burton Creek and Dr Brian still care about animals, their owners and with providing top notch service at a fair price. Being that he and his wife are hands on owners the office is well run. Each time I have brought one of my dogs or puppies in the staff greeted my nicely, brought my animal in to the very clean exam room in a timely fashion and seemed to actually enjoy their job. Dr Brian himself has always come across as friendly and professional. Taking the time to explain what he is doing and why, making my dogs feel at ease (no small feat for an animal at a vet office.) Pricing was reasonable, especially for the quality of care. I say this office and Vet should be your first choice when choosing a Vet for the first time, or if you are tired of the «new corporate» vibe of your old one.

Love this vet ! Dr. Buckton is thorough and so good with my old dog. The staff is professional and friendly, appointments are seen on time, the office is clean and modern. Couldn’t ask for more.

I have always considered Tahoe my second home. We FINALLY added a dog to our family and headed up to enjoy a month at the Lake. Unfortunately, like toddlers, puppies get into everything and ours ate a few bags of trail mix with raisins and M&M’s. Our vet recommended seeing a vet asap and we landed in the office of Dr. Buckton. Great staff, clean facility, they took immediate action despite our arrival during a busy vaccine clinic day. We picked up our pup about 2 hours later. I can tell she loved the staff and was well cared for during her not-​so-​fun visit. Hopefully we won’t have to visit again, but if we had a problem, we’d be back!

Did a great job with my boys :) very patient staff, clean office and rooms, and i felt pretty reasonably priced for tahoe. way better than driving to Reno!
