David M. Blaiwas, L. Ac. M.Ac. has been practicing acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Takoma Park and Columbia MD, for over 15 years. Mr. Blaiwas is Board Certified in Acupuncture, and holds certifications in Chinese Herbal Medicine, Advanced Acupuncture, and Chinese Nutritional Therapy. Mr. Blaiwas is Associate Professor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Maryland University of Integrative Health, and former President of the Maryland Acupuncture Society.

I’ve never been to another acupuncturist, but it’s not tough to assert that David is one of the best there is. He’s extremely professional and kind, with an excellent bedside manner (which sounds weird to say, but when you’re partially in your underwear, it makes a huge difference); explains everything to you, including what you might expect to feel or experience during the treatment; and helps to put your mind at ease that the treatment will help. And, it does. It pretty much healed my panic attacks and has helped calm my anxiety, stomach issues, hypoglycemia and allergies. David is also excellent at giving life advice and explaining how to manage expectations and anxiety. I’ve recommended him to many friends and colleagues over the years (at this point, I’ve been seeing him for more than 4 years). I will be at a serious loss when he retires! Which hopefully won’t be for a long time (hint, hint) :-).

I have been seeing David for acupuncture for a few years now, and I can’t say enough good things about him. He is an excellent (and VERY seasoned) clinician — he listens well and always tailors each session to what is causing me particular trouble on that day; his work never feels rote or mechanical. He has helped me to shift both physical and emotional issues, and in addition to symptom relief I usually learn about myself and how to take better care in the process. He also teaches acupuncture at Tai Sophia and has a deep knowledge bank from that and other ongoing training that he does. He is a great resource and I always recommend him to anyone who can get to Takoma Park.
