Based on what was in the window, looks like a cool store. But unfortunately the store was closed when I got there. Even though according to the posted store hours it was supposed to be open.

I LOVED it here. My roommate, Alisha, and I had limited funds to go out and do some shopping, so first we stopped at Unique Thrift Store(I’ll let you look at that review) and we stopped here as the second in our thrift store consignment store shopping spree. We never made it to stop number 3. No more cash! Literally, we had to leave as we begged Jody, the owner, to take our pictures to keep so she could deny us entrance in the future. She asked, «but why would I want to do that? I like you guys!» We said, «We think it’s what’s best…». There were so many cute things here. Sorry I didn’t leave any for you. I love the vintage shoe collection, the bags, the unique finds, the quippy t-shirts on the rack, you name it. New to my collection is the Napoleon Dynamite tee with his head and«Heck Yes!» on the front as well as my new, «We’re all going to Hell» t-shirt with 2 smiling faces from soda shop era. There was an adorable polka-dotted halter dress in the window from Charlotte Russe. Notice I said was? It fit me, so I had to take it home. Thank you to all who came in and sold their clothes and shoes here. You make my insides swell with joy. The dressing rooms are wicked cool as well. The music selection, hilarious. We were blessed with the, «my dog loves your dog, so we should love each other,» song, as well as all the other dog-themed songs on that CD. We forgot to ask Jody where she got it. I think Alisha and I spent over 2 hours in that store. The owner is super cool. We weren’t really done shopping by the time we left, as I mentioned earlier, but our wallets were. So sad. I’ll be back when I get some more«allowance» money from my paycheck. What a fun store. I think I mentioned that I was sorry for taking all the good stuff on my last visit. I guess there’s really no point for you to go now, but I’m glad you read my review.

Glad Rags isn’t a phenomenal consignment shop, but it’s definitely solid and I’d definitely return. They have a wide selection of used and vintage items for both men and women. There were plenty of faux-ironic t-shirts(«Ithaca is Gorges» and the like), vintage or vintage-y dresses, and lots of things from the Gap 2 years ago. I found an awesome pair of Italian Ralph Lauren T-strap heels that I would have bought and cherished if they’d only been in my size. I also found a sweet early-90s tiered floral dress that would be awesome if I only had the balls to wear it. Glad Rags also has a little section of new, kitschy merchandise that included cowboy-themed bandaids, regular and pubic hair dye, and Miso Pretty perfume(I bought a bottle, it was only $ 15, and it is DELICIOUS). There’s also a jewelry section that I unfortunately didn’t notice until after I had checked out. I say«unfortunately» because there was some rad stuff in there that I just didn’t have time to look at. The woman working there was super friendly without ever being pushy, and the décor in the fitting rooms was really, really fun. My biggest complaint is that they’re not picky enough about what they buy. The store was packed full of clothing and a lot of it was crap. A good number of pieces were stained or pilled or looked like they had been through the washer too many times. Pricing on the clothes was inconsistent as well, with certain items being much more expensive than others for no obvious reason. Maybe they let their consigners set the price? I dunno. But all in all there aren’t really any serious negatives to Glad Rags, so I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Takoma Park.

I had the pleasure of accidentally stumbling across Glad Rags while living in Silver Spring and what a pleasant fumble it was. Quietly nestled In quaint Takoma Park, Glad Rags immediately inlisted my immediate attention.~ It’s shabby decorated storefront alone drew me in, as it seemed to be whispering my name… Tiiiiifiiiiniiiiii!!!, Tiiiiiiifiiiiniiiiiiiii!!!, so what was I to do?, I went in and from that moment, I knew that I would love this place, as I did… Being the vintage, shabby chic, hippy collector that I am, I couldn’t resist all the funky little items inside that seemed to be calling my name as well… I grabbed as many little trinkets that would fit into my cuddled embrace and made my way to the counter but not without trying on at least one little item~a pair of vintage«Levis Strauss» which I should say, hugged my little ass perfectly so they became a «must have» added collection piece for my wardrobe… Before leaving, I engaged in a mini conversation with the owner, thanking her for creatively coming up with such a place… So ladies(more than likely), if you’re looking for a hip, funky little shop with cool vintage finds and where the help is always upbeat and friendly… this is the place to come~ «New» is overrated, «Vintage» is definitely the way to go, especially if you have a creative flare, Kudos to Glad Rags!, I’m a fan for life~
