Worst restaurant ever !!! Save yourself a headache and just go to Oriental East! Egg rolls are disgusting here and the delivery service is horrible ! I see why Oriental East is the best Asian restaurant around.

Lack luster in taste, appearance and quality. Hunan beef? What was that mystery meat without sauce and lots of peppery spice. Egg roll was old and completely dried out and my newspaper dissapeared. I’m just saying…

I get the TVP(textured vegetable protein), General Tso’s style, every time. Delicious treat, and not something that seems to be available very many places. My kids enjoy the steamed broccoli — flavorful without oil and salt. Staff aren’t friendly, the décor is typical takeout, but very good food for the genre.

What sort of restaurant allows the wallpaper to peel off of the wall in at least a dozen spots? The same one that fries pork dumplings so long on the same side that they are tough to chew. I don’t expect to come back.

This place isn’t bad but I’ve had better. Your going to get the typical carryout style food here. Meaning frozen deep fried items soaked in sauce for lack of flavor but that doesn’t mean it isn’t filling. The delivery service is prompt; took less than 30 mins for my food to arrive. Food was warm & filling…

Their chicken lo mein made me throw up. Not sure if it’s because they used peanut oil, which I’m allergic to, or if the food was just that bad and my body was screaming«No, honey!» I realize I should be careful given my nut allergy(so I avoid Thai food), but I’ve never had this issue with Chinese food before in my life. I recommend Eastern Chinese in Takoma Park instead. Their food is delicious and has not made me puke my guts out.

Looking at the reviews it seems like I didn’t order from the same place. I’ve been living in DC for a few months now and have yet to order Chinese food. I had a craving for comfort food and no groceries so I thought it was time to take a chance, they were the closest to me. I ordered the crab ragoon, shrimp lo mein, and broccoli in garlic sauce. I was prepared for mediocre but to my surprise it was actually… delicious! They gave me a whole container of sweet and sour, the noodles were actually seasoned and not just oily, the broccoli marinated, and the ragoon wasn’t over fried. They even gave me a complimentary veggie roll that wasn’t dry. They said 30 min and were here within that time. Will use them for my next craving!

Service is unacceptable. Worst customer service! Driver said he was outside. He was around the corner. Then he had an attitude when I got there. He didn’t even get out his car to give me my food. The worst part is I tipped before service. DONTCHOOSETHEM! Too many other carry outs to choose from.

Yuck. I was fooled by 5 star reviews on Seamless and made a rookie mistake not to check Unilocal too. So the dumplings are just like every horrible dumpling I ever get in DC takeout: that thick doughey outside that is just so unappealing looking and even worse to eat. The Hot and Sour soup is not hot at all. It’s actually kind of bland. And the moo sho pork came with mexican flour tortillas. Nasty. The only reason this isn’t getting one star is because they deliver to my house. This is a sad state of affairs.

I ordered the food for delivery. The steamed dumplings were good. The egg roll was terrible and the sesame chicken was decent. The food was ridiculously hot. An hour later, when I went to put it in the fridge, it was still warm. Wait like 10 minutes for it to vent after you get it if you don’t want to scald your tongue.

The driver called to let me know he was«at the door» which actually meant he was parked in our driveway and I had to actually go out and walk through the grass to him while he was sitting in his warm car. That, in my opinion, is NOT what I’d call«good delivery.» The food was terrible too. The egg drop soup was gray – meaning they over-cooked the eggs, and the sweet and sour chicken I had was barely edible. The steamed broccoli was amazing, though. I’ll give a star for that and the fact that they didn’t mess up our crab rangoon.

Disgusting! Steam rice was yellowish and smells. Probably left over for days. I ordered«butterfly» deep fried shrimp. Ended up with some shrimp in fried eggs with disgusting sauce and can veggies. I called them an they denied everything. Apparently, their verson of butterly shrimp is what ive jus described. The«fried shrimp» to them is called deep fried shrimp. I think the carry out is taken over by the new owner which is rude. The other lady is always pleasant and friendly and i always order Butterfly shrimp«fried» and i got it. This time i order butterfly shrimp and i got some discusting crap that Looks like they made it up and put it in the menue. never ever again. no more carry out for me. Ever wonder why you dont see Chinese people order food at a carry out???

Where is the chicken? I ordered the Hunan Chincken and there wasn’t much. Like a tiny little piece. And there was so much grease and oil. The portion was tiny for the amount of money paid. The fried wonton was pretty good… But ugh. I will not be back. The way the other Unilocalpers wrote about this place made it seem as though this place was great… I guess it’s changed.

Have only ordered delivery thus far, and been pleased with both the service and the short wait for the delivery. The General Tso’s Chicken is the best I’ve had in the TKPK area, and I’m about to try the Sesame Chicken. Can’t wait!

I like them. They who are who I call up when I want some easy meatless tastiness. It is take-out folks, it is what it is. Fast and filling. Very friendly folks that work the phones and counter. They always seem glad to see you.

just moved in to takoma and needed some delivery while our kitchen is still in boxes, and this place did the job just fine. they have a pretty standard menu, including TVP fake-chicken for us vegetarians. the general tso-s was pretty good and so were the spring rolls and soup, but the other dishes we had were good but fairly bland. the bean curd was really nicely cooked, with some texture to the fired skin as opposed to the limp steamy sponges that other places try to serve you. i want to give them more stars just out of customer service even though i think their food could have been more flavorful. as the others have said, they’re really nice on the phone and they delivered free to our strangely-hidden new house with no complaints. not only that, but when i was done ordering, the guy added another entre for us for free. gonna keep shopping around since we just moved into the neighborhood(and i’m still lamenting the loss of yenching palace in woodley so many years ago… they were the best. damn you walgreens, you suck), but i’m sure we’ll give wah lock a few more calls, regardless. –s

i was expecting a lot better from reading all the other reviews, all i can gather is there just isnt much to choose from in Takoma Park for good Chinese, cause this place was kinda lame. we tried the general tso’s, the chicken lo mein, and the cold sesame noodles for our meals, we also got an order of the crab ragoon. the crab ragoon was SUCK, seriously worst i’ve ever had the thing they use for the wrapper might as well have been plaster for how hard and crunchy it was, it was almost painful to eat, AVOID. the sesame noodles were pretty good to me, as was the general tso’s was decent, the rest was just meh. I’m thinking unless your legs are broke and you cant drive to get better, just dont do it.

If you’re up in Takoma Park, the Hot Totten, or even Silver Spring, you have no excuse for not ordering from this place. Not only are the owners so nice, remember who you are(especially if you’re like me and make an in person appearance from time to time), but the food is better than other Chinese places and have great vegetarian choices. Delivery is free, whereas *some* of the better places in Silver Spring’ll charge you a few bucks for delivery. Just make sure you have your phone because the delivery person will call before they come to your door to bring your delicious food. I seriously love this place(especially the General Tso’s Tofu!)

This is my Chinese delivery place o’ choice for two reasons. First, they are nice on the phone(almost too nice… the woman who answers the phone asked me a personal question the other night which made it quite plain that she and the delivery guy gossip about customers), but they are friendly, which counts for something in the surly world of fast-food Chinese. Second, they are the only place around that offers my very favorite Chinese dish: Cold Sesame Noodles. Fancy Meiwah downtown seems to have it, but no one else. Maybe the other places think it’s too lowly to include? Lowlier than egg rolls? So the noodles are very good for what they are(total Chinese comfort/junk food). The Homestyle Tofu is my favorite veg dish(and they seem to specialize in offering vegetarian meat-substitute dishes with TVP), the Ta Chien Chicken is pretty tasty. Their General Tso is as good as the average chicken candy. Because there is a $ 10 minimum delivery charge, when you add tax, etc. you can’t really get away with less than a $ 12.50 price tag(not including tip), but it still seems like a good enough deal for the many occasions when I just can’t bear the idea of cooking or leaving the house. Wah Lock is a good place for what it is: just one of the millions of Chinese take-outs around here. It is made a bit special by it’s inclusion of the Sesame Noodles. You could do much worse.
