Fast food is not necessarily burgers. In this case, it’s Louisiana-style fried chicken, seafood, and sides. We stopped in here on a road trip and filled ourselves up. The hunny and daughter had their usual chicken, but I decided to be different: I had a shrimp po-boy. I already knew that their chicken was mighty good, and their shrimp po-boy was good too. Fries had a different seasoning on it, which made them slightly palatable. In the background, N’Awlins-style blues was setting the mood. It may not be a big deal in Tallahassee, which has a Southern Belle feel to it. But for this Californian, it was a good break from the usual burger, even if it was fast food.

I always get great food and service at this Popeyes. You can’t get better deep-fried(as opposed to panfried in cast-iron) chicken than this. Skip the drive-through for fast service inside. That way while you’re waiting, you get to smell the good food. Last night I ended an influenza-induced fast to get one of our favorite comfort foods, Popeyes mashed potatoes and gravy.

The food is good but they are really really slow. Ordered a standard family meal mid afternoon and was asked to park in parking lot. Watched a good 15 cars go through drive through no one else asked to park. After ordering took 14 minutes to get food. No sense or urgency in staff. Oh well. Chicken is still good.
