This was our 4th time eating here, inside the restaurant. We have also gotten take out pizza. I haven’t liked anything here in all the times we’ve been here. We ate here last night, because everywhere else was packed. They always have a crowd, I guess because non-Italians like it? We drove from Hazleton because we had to go to Walmart, so we thought of this restaurant because it’s across the street. It is a lovely place, that appears to be clean. We were greeted(well not really) by a young man who is the host. Let’s just say, he left his personality at home. We were seated in the back room, where two other families were seated. It was nice and warm on a cold evening. I welcomed being there, because the main dining area was crowded and noisy. My husband ordered lasagna and I ordered chicken Picata. I asked if a side of pasta came with mine. The waitress said yes, and I had a choice of 3 types of pasta. We each had a cup of chicken corn chowder. It was good. Our salad left a lot to be desired. Iceberg lettuce with a lot of red onions, two black olives and nothing more. I asked for plain olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The lady brought wine vinegar. I assumed they didn’t have balsamic. The bread was very good, the highlight of the night! My husband’s lasagna was baked with TONS of sauce and mozzarella cheese, as was his side of sausage. It had way too much sauce and cheese on it. The chicken Picata LOOKED good. It was of ample size, and I knew I was going to have to take half home. It was SWIMMING in lemon butter sauce. The sauce was like water and wayyyy toooo lemony. Also, my angel hair was under the chicken, which I detest! It was supposed to be a side. Ugh! I ate about 1⁄3 of the chicken, and called it a day. My husband said his lasagna tasted funny. I tried it, and I couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong. It wasn’t spoiled though. We had cannoli for desert, which was good. The cream inside was fresh, not like a rock. I wanted a hoagie when we pulled into the lot. I’m unsure why I changed my mind. I think we’ve given Basile’s enough chances. Next time we will drive a little further to LaDolche Casa in Tamaqua. I want to say a tall waitress with dark hair and a tan was lovely. We struck up a conversation with her. She had all of the personality that the other staff didn’t!

I had the cheese ravioli. I didn’t like it. It was very plain. We ordered the coconut shrimp. It was good. I think it was the frozen kind. My husband ordered the steak and he liked it a lot. The bread was good. I might come back to try the pizza.

I was part of a bridal party rehearsal dinner. The room we reserved was absolutely stunning, with plenty of room for all. As it is an Italian place, I’m a little confused as to why we had a classic American dinner of turkey/stuffing/potatoes, but perhaps that was a menu selected by the bride’s parents. I had zero vegetarian options other than carbs and veggies, but that’s not uncommon for this area. I will say that the veggies that I loaded up on were FANTASTIC. I had about 3 plates’ full. I want to feel gluttonous, but eating 3 plates of veggies should make Mom proud, right? The mashed potatoes were heavenly, as was the bread. I had to stop myself from eating half the basket. Three stars because I got this vibe that the staff hated us. We were glared down as we were leaving? We weren’t even crazy drunks; everyone knows you save that energy for the wedding itself. So, thanks for the glimmering final impression…

It’s absolutely beautiful inside. They have marble tables. They give a lot of shrimp for their shrimp cocktail. It’s reasonably priced. Their staff was nice and kid friendly. Family Italian owned. The food was good. Side salad could be better with your meal. Instead of ice burg lettuce… Over all it was nice.

The food is very bland tasting in my opinion. For the dining experience they try to have you take part in, I would think the food would be better.

At one end of the Road is Basile. At the other, McDonalds. While I have questionable taste, I’ve been to Basile once and the McDonalds at the other end of the road dozens of times. While this probably confirms your(questionable) opinion of my taste, it sure doesn’t say much for Basile, does it? The food was so good, I don’t remember what I ate.

Not bad. I wouldn’t go out and say this is a DINNER place. More like a pizza place but like I said not bad. Stopped here twice while in the area two different times. I was impressed both times but then again I only got Pizza… Would recommend for sure

Waited 15 minutes to be seated when they had open seats but for some reason those seats weren’t good enough, the Service sucked, waitress was not very good, and the food was subpar at best! Ordered a sub and it was ok, but the bread is killer, sub was all bread and no meat. Never again will I return to this over priced horrible food establishment

Always a good meal at Basile’s, and I’ve never been disappointed, whether it’s pizza, subs or full meals.

On the way up to Slate Run, PA, to meet a few friends for a camping trip, I stopped for my last hot meal of the weekend. It was a Friday evening around 7PM. when I arrived. The place was crowded, but it only took a few minutes to get a table. I had pretty high expectations for the food because Sal(the owner of Marco’s pizza in Lansford, PA) recommended it. His family opened this restaurant sometime within the last few years and his sister, Paula, currently runs it. It is located on Route 309 in a place called Hometown(?). Ironically, Hometown does not have a much of a «town» feel. This restaurants location reminded me more of a diner you would see on a once-major highway. It has a gravel parking lot and the surrounding area is less than picturesque. Despite its locale, the faux Italian façade of the building is inviting. When I opened the door, I instantly noticed the smell of anise, which I immediately associated with sweet basil. The second thing I noticed were the hand-painted basil vines all along the top border of the plaster walls. These vines emanated from the large basil plant painted on the right wall. Underneath the mural was written«Ocimum Basilicum,» the genus and species for the Genovese Basil. This is the most commonly used basil in Italian cooking. After the waitress brought us our menus, which was also adorned with basil varieties, I ordered a Guers Iced Tea, a local favorite. The menu was basil-intensive with dishes ranging from appetizers with thai-basil to desserts incorporating lemon-basil. When deciding what to order, I noticed there was no brick oven. This was disappointing, because the sister restaurant, Marco’s, did have one. I had to order their signature appetizer, the«Basil Bites.» These are essentially foccacia squares with bruschetta and a healthy dose of house-made basil oil. I would recommend. Simple but tasty. For my main course, I decided to order Sausage alla Carmela. This is Italian sausage and gnocchi, in a garlic basil pesto sauce. It was served with fresh garlic bread and a side salad. For dessert, I ordered a lemon-basil panna cota with strawberries. It was refreshing. The waitstaff was exceptionally attentive. Everything I ordered was recommendations of my server. Based on the deliciousness of my dishes, it was clear that she knew the menu well. After paying my bill, I stopped to use the facilities. I found the door was locked and I had to wait. I thought it odd to find a one occupancy bathroom in an establishment of this caliber. On a better note, they did have basil-scented hand soap. This was a fitting ending to a great dining experience.

This place was very nice. Great italian food and reasonable prices. You can dine in or take out. Their pizzas are huge! We had a veggie pizza which was delicious. It almost had too many veggies however since we had to eat it with a knife and a fork, but I guess that’s what you get when you order a veggie pizza. For a authentic italian pizzeria, visit Basile’s, you won’t be disappointed!
