Checkers

I saw that they were on undercover boss. Many issues were covered that Were concerning, the food, the food temp and also equally as important was how the employees were being treated.
I am born and raised in Tampa fl. That being said I grew up with checkers, the food was always great. It was my favorite. About five years or so I stopped coming because the fries tended to always be cold. My burger was always room temp and the cheese never was melted… Which is IMPORTANT.
Back to undercover boss, after seeing the show (about 8 months ago was when I first saw the episode) I figured shittt thank god! So right after the show finished I decided to take a leap of faith and try checkers again, I was so excited! What happened? My fries were cold, so was my burger ! To say I was pisssssed is an understatement. This place has so much promise yet no one seems to care.
If McDonald’s can manage to have melted cheese on a burger, they have no excuse.
This really saddens me!

I’m new to the area and the hubs and I were driving around looking for something fast but familiar. This Checkers was pretty busy which is a good sign. Except for the amazing fries we don’t have the best memories associated with Checkers-​the last time I went to one in Orlando the hubs and I got food poisoning so, yeah. So we went here with a little trepidation.
As far as Checkers go this one was just fine, it wasn’t a FANTASTIC burger but it was decent. I just got a regular Checker Burger and the hubs got the Roadhouse Bacon Burger (meat lovers, rejoice!). The folks there were super friendly and the service was fast. Sadly they forgot his burger so I was practically done with mine by the time he got his. We also picked up pies which were coated with way too much brown sugar.
The highlight of this Checkers is the location. Its across a plaza of stores and next to a gas station with plenty of seating outside. It was also a windy and cool night so we had a nice breeze. This place is PERFECT for people watching-​at one point we watched a young dude try to toss a bottle into the trash bin from his car and miss like 3 times, when he finally made it we clapped for him, to his surprise and slight embarrassment (it was adorable lol). Checkers is also open until 3am so its another choice in the limited late night dining options in Tampa.
