Gunn Hwy Alterations & Shoe Repairs

I would leave no stars if that was an option. I brought in a pair of men’s jeans that needed to be hemmed and a pair of lady’s jeans that needed a new zipper. The owner wrote a ticket for what needed to be done, repeated twice, and gave prices for each item. Total was $ 24 and she requested a $ 10 deposit. This was a Tuesday, and she said jeans would be ready the following Monday, and that she would call if done sooner. Monday came and my husband went in to pick up jeans, and found she did not hem the men’s jeans and she replaced the zipper on the men’s jeans (which had a perfectly functioning zipper) instead of the lady’ pair. When my husband told her she did zipper on wrong pair she kept saying I gave you new zipper and you owe me $ 6. My husband asked what happened to the hemming of the pants and she said it was our fault for not calling to remind her. He asked for his $ 10 deposit back and the pants, and told her he wasn’t going to pay for the zipper she replaced on the wrong pants. She would not return our jeans until he paid her $ 6 a total $ 16 for nothing. She was adamit on not returning clothes without payment for the job she did wrong. My husband paid just to get our jeans back, and I couldn’t believe what happened when he came home. I called her and after going back and forth with her for a good 10 minutes she said come back and get money. When my husband went in she just threw it on counter and walked away.

This is a wonderful place to get all your alterations done. The sweet lady that runs the shop with her husband is an absolute professional. Very skilled and was very attentive and understanding of our needs and timeline. I recommend this place and will continue to go there for anything that needs alteration. The customer service is unbeatable. My mom and I are thankful for all the help in making the 50^th Anniversary Party a sucess with dresses that fit perfectly!

DO NOT HEM your pants here. I went into this place because the had a giant banner outside advertising that they hem pants. I took in my pants from a suit I just bought and they told him that for an extra $ 3 they can hem in one day. I said not problem and paid. To my amazement, when I picked up my pants the next day, you can see ever stitch on the outside. I have never ever seen anyone so poorly hem dress pants.
I asked the lady there how can this be acceptable, please take all your stitching out and I want a refund. She said no problem and then proceeded to tell me that her hem machine is more than 40 years old lol. I told her, why in the world would you advertise pants hemming when you have a machine that can potentially ruin clothes.
I am not sure what anyone elses experience is here, but I am certain that I will not be back.

My hidden gem of the week is a terrific little tailoring shop that also does shoe repairs and dry cleaning. It’s located in the shopping center at the intersection of Gunn Highway and Andersen Road. Gunn Highway Alterations sits at right-​angles to Winners Sport Grill, and I discovered it over the weekend when I popped into Winners to watch some of the Olympics events. The shop is run by a very sweet Asian lady named Esther Yoon, and she’s only been open for about a month.
On Saturday, I took in some pairs of dress pants that needed the waist taken in, and expected that it would take several days for the alterations. Amazingly they were ready by lunchtime on Monday, and her prices were incredible. The worksmanship was fantastic, and I will definitely be going back with some more alteration work for her.
