We are an orthopaedic Practice with a subspecialty interest in spinal problems.
Our office offers orthopaedic evaluations, basic fracture care, and spinal injections.

History
Established in 1993.
Dr. Shim finished a fellowship in Spinal Surgery and established a practice in the Tampa Bay area. He is part of the Florida Sports, Orthopaedic and Spine Medicine practice in association with Dr.‘s Choi, Mirabello and Torke located in Palm Harbor.
In 2009, the Westchase office opened with an excellent welcome from the Westchase community.
While Dr. Shim has a subspecialty interest in spinal problems, we welcome general orthopaedic problems as well.
In 2011, the Spine Education Website, www.ShimSpine.com, was developed by Dr. Shim as an educational tool for orthopaedic spine patients.
In 2014, Dr. Casey O’Donnell joined the office, and provides non-surgical treatments for patients with musculoskeletal problems.
We also have an in-office fluoroscopy suite and offer spinal injections therapies for our patients.
Our philosophy is to treat our Patients like our Family.

At ShimSpine, we offer a personalized experience when it comes to the evaluation and treatment of spine related problems. Our approach redefines customer service and integrity in medicine. Unlike most traditional physician practices, patients are able to spend quality time with the physician to discuss their spine related problems, without having to rush and without having to spend time sitting idle in a waiting room. This affords the patient the opportunity to develop a better relationship with the physician. In this relaxed environment, Dr. John Shim is able to gain a clear understanding of the problem and offer the patient education regarding their condition (s) and recommendations for further testing and treatment, utilizing an evidenced based approach. At ShimSpine, treatment options are based on proven procedures that have a high degree of predictability and successful outcomes and are not limited by health insurance carrier’s guidelines or policies.
