Use to play the WORST music in Tampa Bay & have some of the rudest employees ever. But they have corrected ALL their problems. This is NOW a FUN place to come get a coffee & enjoy WIFI. The book selection is GREAT & so is the record, CD & DVD selection. CHECK them out.

Record, CD, Book. What a combination. It is close the USF where you find your music in the pass. This kind store is getting harder to find. Although this not the future technology, but it has a goodie of the old song that you never think of.
The store is very cute. Sometime they have live show or music. If you need a LP, they have plenty. Book every way. Store like this alway have a coffee shop inside. I have the Mexican Mocha. It is a spicy coffee. Mmmm. SPICY.
They also have Japanese Yama Coffee. This coffee suppose to be the high caffeine coffee for Japanese. The distillery is display on the side. Funny looking.

This place near USF and university mall offers used book, CD, vinyl, coffee, snacks. They some time have band perform there. Check their webpage on events. We tried Mexican Mocha. It was a OK taste. It was fun to browse the book and record shelf and may find some surprises. The pricing is Ok for used book, DVD or record.

This is about the coffee & tea: I don’t know if I’m crazy or Mojo’s was just having an off day or what because there are so many 5 star ratings and my experience was TERRIBLE! The girl at the café was one of the rudest people I’ve met in a long time. She seemed totally annoyed that we were actually, GASP, ordering drinks and food. The ordering process was difficult, she wouldn’t even look at us, and she acted pissed off the entire time. When we got the items, the cookie was great the espresso milkshake was very good, the Matcha Hot tea was lukewarm and the Mojo’s special panini was disgusting. It was a few slices of cold apples and chunks of unmelted cheese. Seriously, $ 4.50 for something I couldn’t eat. Very expensive unpleasant experience. I traded in some books and took a store credit which I gave to someone else because there is no way I will be back.
Books and records: The book selection was ok and it seemed like there were a lot of records but IDK because that isn’t my thing.

Really cool place. Loved the spicy caramel latte. That is a must! The book selection and vinyl selection is great as well. Wish it were a tad bit bigger.

I really enjoy coming here on random lazy Sunday’s to enjoy some down time with my boyfriend. We love to look through the record collections, and cook books together. The coffee here is also great! They have so many different varieties of drinks to try! From Thai frappes, to drip coffee, and even my favorite Thai tea.
This time was a little different, because I had one of my friends joining me instead. I had to pick up a Trigonometry for Dummies book for the impeding semester to work on over the winter break. I have to say, I was rather impressed that they held such a large selection of math books for students. There was even a Biology section, which is a plus because I’ll be taking my second Bio course soon.
If I have to get a book on a whim, or have some spare time I definitely wouldn’t mind spending it here again.

Typically I come here for the Yama, made from zeal or buddy brew coffee. Today I got a shot of espresso. I closed my eyes as this shot took me on a fruity, chocolatey journey. In this journey I felt myself overcome by the espresso, embodied the whirlwind of emotions and flavors, resurrecting my boring self from the monotony of living in a world with which my mouth does not have this espresso. It’s a shame that the journey ended so soon.

One of the best wifis I’ve used at a café. Fast, responsive, got a ton of work done!
I’m sure that’s partly because of the number of seats which is indeed small. Looks to be 9 or 10. If you show up and plan to sit, put your bag down at the seat before ordering, or you might find some kid runs in and takes the seat before you can finish ordering….

«You make my Tesla Coil». That’s what a Nikola Tesla birthday card with sticker quotes being sold at this place actually said! Not a Tesla fan? That’s okay, they have squeal — in –delight — adorable Mr. Rogers version as well! While the records seem pricey to me, I’m a record idiot, so what do I know? The books are great, and the coffee is too, so they’ve got a lil something for everyone. Did I mention I love their birthday cards?

I love this shop! It has a great selection of records, DVDs, and books, but what I love most is it’s hippie vibe. As you walk in, the coffee shop in on your right. The books are straight ahead, and the records/​CDs are on your right. They have a wonderful selection of albums. I’ve bought a Grateful Dead and and Jimi Hendrix album here and they are in great condition. In the middle of the store are the DVDs and books. On the last aisle on the right near the LPs is a nice but somewhat small collection of DVDs/​CDs. Moving to the left, you have the used book section. The first is music/​religion, then biography/​politics, self help, and educational books. On the left hand side of the book section is a large selection of sci fi and manga books, which I love since I’m a nerd. Along the back wall on the right is the children’s section. In the middle section of the back wall are the art books, and on the back left side are the American Indian, gender studies, and LBGTQ sections.
The store itself is organized and clean. Check out the décor. It’s really interesting. The prices are good as well, at least on books. I’ve seen very good condition hardcovers for $ 12 and $ 5 for a used nice paperback. Of course the prices do vary a bit.
As for the coffee shop, it is great when it’s open. I like their chai latte. The restroom is in the coffee shop.
Overall, mojo is a great place to hang out and find some great deals on tunes and books. Check it out sometime!

What a cool place. They put it all together in an amazing fashion. Vinyl, cds, DVD, books, posters, band salutations, top sell books, variety & different books, a great coffee shop & more.
How did I miss out on this place for so long, I love it’s vibe and aura.
It takes me back to younger days & times. When I enter this establishment, I am a child, filled with wonderlust & excitement. You always know you are going to find what you want & without knowing it you may also find what you need.
It is full of wonderful surprises around every cornor. You can’t help but to love this gem. Personally I think they are on to something & I hope to see more business like this sprouting up in the Tampa area.
Last but, certainally not least is the café. I did not eat, but had a latte to go. It is a small, seasonal offering of enticing & exciting items, most seem locally sourced, which in my eyes is always a great thing.
What’s a girl to do? Try new places & discover excitement & go ahead let yourself feel like a kid for an hour or 2.

This is such a cute store. I just purchased a record player and they have a huge, well organized, area to choose from.

I didn’t give this a full 5 stars because the customer service here is not great — virtually every time I’ve been here, the person ringing me up is kind of rude.
But that being said, I still give this a high overall rating because it’s a really unique place, with an «underground» atmosphere, and an off-​the-​beaten-​path kind of vibe. But beyond that, the coffee is AMAZING! Every single coffee beverage I’ve had has been some of the best I’ve experienced anywhere, ever! My favorites are the Mexican Mocha, the Thai Iced Coffee, and the Espresso shake. Their vegan-​friendly pastries are also really delicious.
All in all, if you’re into books/​music, and some really damn good coffee — you gotta give this spot a try.

I’ve been to Mojo a couple times now, mostly for a cup of coffee, and have had a great experience every time. The baristas are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. This past time I tried a spicy caramel latte and I was really skeptical but it was so delicious!
I explored the books and records and they had an amazing selection of both new and used products. This place is just great all around!

A nostalgic trip down memory lane. I have never been here before but Im glad I ran across it. Its a hidden gem in tampa for sure.
Its a record store like the kind I used to go to when I was younger.
For you kids that don’t know, ‘RECORDS’ are tangible music you can touch it and feel it with your fingers they came right before eight tracks and cassettes and way before MP3 players.
You could hold these ‘record’ covers and even smell them and read all the liner notes about the band on the record.
My point is, They have these antique, beautiful pieces of art you can listen to.
They also have tons of amazing ‘BOOKS’ If you don’t know what those are, google it.
Seriously though, This place is a treasure trove of awesomeness! I left with rare music, a new Bukowski book, A copy of ‘True Romance’ and some sweet-​sweet L.P.‘S.
The staff is seriously gregarious and informative, I wasted a half a day there and I needed it.
I suggest going in grabbing a coffee from the coffee bar and maybe a cookie and just indulge, get your culture and learn on!

Great place to chill read a book while listening to great music and trying a drink and snack from local suppliers and growers! This is one of my favorite places to stop in Tampa!

When I was 12 years old, I starting spinning records with two Radioshack tables and mixer. I would catch HART bus number 19 from South Tampa to Westshore Plaza and hit up The Record Bar or get a ride to Tampa Bay Center so I could browse at Camelot Music. I was in constant search for the newest Miami Bass, Hip-​Hop, House and Freestyle jams. There’s a new Maggotron record? I had to have it. Back in those days, you had to be the first person to get a record. It was important. That was almost 30 years ago, so as you can imagine, I’ve amassed one hell of a record collection. Today, the amount of vinyl I own is at it’s lowest at roughly 3,000 pieces.
My point? I know records, and I never thought a record shop would be a nostalgic thing. When I began downloading MP3s in the late 90’s, I never thought about the consequences. No more Vinyl Fever. No more Benton Records. No more Galaxy Records. I could go on and on. So for me, walking into a record shop now and seeing that it has turned into this cool, analog, hipster thing to do is upsetting. It’s upsetting and makes me happy at the same time because I’m glad people are still taking the time to remember vinyl and start these businesses. Mojo certainly has way more books than vinyl, but that’s okay. They’re still doing their part to preserve the art of tangible music. Talk about bitter sweet, huh?
I didn’t buy any wax while I was here, but I browsed around for a bit and then I order a cold brewed coffee to go. I’ve got to admit, the coffee was damn good, and hella refreshing! Honestly, I’d almost go back to sip another java before I’d return to buy a record or book.

Books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl, coffee & tea! Come here and you’ll be lost in oblivion of the reading material and collection of music.
I spent my time in the vinyl section and found a couple good records. They also have a nice selection of new records. Pricey but nice to know they’re available.
I didn’t check the books section but they have so many books. Literally so many that the register checkout was piled with books and DVDs forming a wall with a small slot to the register. I thought about causing the wall of books to go timber but I don’t think the employees would’ve thought highly of my actions.

How have I lived in the USF area for so long and never been here!!! What the heck?
Such a hipster haven… which isn’t usually my scene but was still pretty cool. I’ve recently gotten back into reading books after picking up Tom Wolfe’s «The Right Stuff» off my parents’ bookshelf and discovering it was a signed copy to my mom from the 70s. Something about the physicality of holding a book in your hands and knowing the author actually held it too and signed it makes me want to read more and computer less (yes, computer-​ing is a verb).
Anyways, I was impressed by the broad spectrum of topics they had, from recent bestsellers to classic thrillers to educational and beyond. Prices were good but varied– I found some great steals for less desirable books but the ones I did want (hardcover Bonfire of the Vanities, for example) seemed a little higher priced for being used. Still, much better prices than a big box bookstore. They also had movies… I might go back and buy The Exorcist next time I’m there.
I definitely recommend checking out this place if you are an A) reader B) music lover C) hipster D) student looking for a cool place E) bored and in the area. Only complaint was the music playing was awful and too loud. But I’m sure most people enjoyed it! Whatever floats your boat. See ya next time.
