Salty Gillz Charters runs both flats and bay fishing trips in the Tampa Bay Area. This can include anywhere from Ruskin to Ft Desoto, and all the way to the backcountry in the Upper Bay. Usually, our catches consist of Redfish, Trout, and Snook. Many species are more prevelant depending on the weather/​season. Some of the other species we see most frequently in the area include Tarpon, Cobia, Shark, Snapper, Grouper, Mackeral, Pompano, and Flounder.

Business Owner

Captain Matthew Salgado is licensed and insured. He is a 4^th generation angler in the Tampa Bay area. He grew up fishing here with family and knows the scene like it’s his own backyard. Although he enjoys many different styles of fishing, you can usually find him using a wide array of artificials in the back country and flats areas. Redfish, Snook, and Trout are his specialties.

Captain Matt has competed in numerous Redfish tournaments over the past 8 years, both live bait and artificial series. He can be your guide to the fish if you’re just new to the area. He can also be your teacher if you are new to fishing all together.
