Ryan from S3(FL) contacted me in regard to a contract position in NY. At first, everything was great and I was thrilled to take the opportunity that S3 was offering me! Interview scheduled and I’m given the position, then I’m told that there was an error and the position is 5 states away from where I live! I seriously considered relocating because I was truly interested in the position and felt that it could open new doors for me. After requesting a written contract multiple times prior to committing(Ryan asked why I felt the need to consult an accountant etc), he apologized and told me that the rate of pay and per diem that we’d spoken of and exchanged emails about was wrong! In the meantime, I’d begun researching suitable lodging in the proposed location in preparation for the move which would be solely at my own expense. Still, I made every effort to find a way to accommodate S3 and their client despite the discrepancies. I received the contract which was so disorganized that my accountant was confused requiring me to explain the logistics. All of this took place within a two week time frame at the end of which I told Ryan that I could not find suitable housing in time and apologetically declined the position. He responded by spouting off the names of hotels which have reputations of providing less than desirable rooms and insisted that I call them! When I asked him if he’d been to any of these places, he admitted that he had not and yet he had«seen» their rooms. Then he told that that I would be «flagged» which would negatively impact me from receiving offers from S3 and their clients in the future. I’m baffled at the number of errors that were made during this process and the fact that I’m the one who will pay the price. I hope that my experience is an exception and that others will have better outcomes.
