All I can say is the food was nothing short of amazing!!! The staff was very attentive and made sure our drinks were constantly refilled. Just my fiancé and I, we had 2 dinners, 2 drinks and 3 sushi rolls all for $ 45! This is my new favorite place in Tampa!

We’ve been going to Sushi Tsu for years and are always very satisfied. The food is great, service is attentive but unobtrusive, prices reasonable. We ask for Chef Roger to cook for us when he’s there, but all the chefs are good. We love their hibachi and sushi, their fried rice is the best and the ginger dressing for the salad should be bottled. Their yum yum sauce makes everything better, even the rice! take advantage of their two for one drinks from 4−7pm!

The hibachi itself is not bad, but the sauces were a little funky tasting. I did not like their sushi at all — it was gross and did not taste fresh at all. If you want good sushi in North Tampa, go to Soho Sushi on Bearss.

Not worth the time, money, or effort. Definitely would not return. We went in to get a table on a saturday night but the wait for hibachi was over 30 min however there were tons of free tables/hibachi grills with no workers at them. We didn’t stay that night and decided to return on monday night. Went on monday and there was another 30+ min wait for hibachi even though there was only 1 party of people eating hibachi. We ate from their kitchen menu at a table in the back. The service wasn’t bad, considering it seemed like they were understaffed. We ordered an appetizer then waited 5 – 10 min before ordering our main course. When our food came out, it came all at once despite the time difference in ordering. We got our salad, soups, appetizer, and main course all at the same time. The noodles were bland and just luke warm. The main courses were pretty good size but everything on the menu was waaaay overpriced. Would not recommend. Stay away!

I like Japanese Steakhouses and frequent them as often as I’m able. Most are«okay» and some are great! I’m giving this one a 2 Star rating because I’ve definitely had better with what I ordered. Had the Filet and Shrimp. The shrimp was okay, but the filet had only about 3 bites that were good and the rest grisly ! Rice was fairly bland also. Seeing the other reviews, maybe this was a one time deal, but I believe that all meals should be good all the time!

I went here on a date. They had live music playing. I liked the inside of the restaurant and the sushi was really good. My date enjoyed the place a lot. The sushi was really good and reasonably priced to make me want to go again.

First off, I have to say that I haven’t been to Sushi Tsu for years…(I have only been there twice since they moved to the current location). I purchased a groupon a few weeks back, and decided that I would take advantage of it. I wasn’t disappointed in the least. The food was pretty darn good, the service was great, and the drink specials were even better. I’ll have to make it a point to go back a little more often than every few years…

Went to Sushi Tsu last night, sushi was good, not great, wait staff friendly and responsive. The problem is I had two Sushi Tsu gift cards that they would not honor since they were issued by previous management. These cards were won as silent auction from cancer fundraiser. The manager would not talk to us and left the waitress to deliver the bad news even after we asked for more information and to speak with the manager. The only thing they said was that the cards were old and they could not verify they had not been used before. I’m disappointed they did not offer any other ways to accommodate us, not even a discount. Needless to say we will not return to Sushi Tsu since there are much better sushi restaurants that care about their customers.

Usually good idea to make a reservation. Also, bring a light sweater… the a/c works overtime! Sushi Tsu has been my all time FAVE restaurant in New Tampa, but my last trip there??? What happened? They really dropped the ball! My daughters dinner was missing half the food that came with it and we had to wait for them to cook it. Service was a dodgy as well. Certainly not the standard we’ve come to expect there. I’d like to chalk this experience up to them just having an off day. Hopefully things will be as good as they’ve always been in the past when we return again.

Not the best quality, but not terrible either. Great price. Did not sit at the hibachi tables, but it looks pretty awesome. Overall, decent sushi on the cheap(including specialty rolls) :D They give warm hand towels to wipe hands just like Toki Japanese Restaurant. Feels so good on the hands. Will be back to try hibachi.

Decent sushi. Not the best and not the worst but still pretty good. Also the sushi menu is a good size so there’s something for everyone. There is also something for the people who don’t care for sushi. I’ve never tried the hibachi there but the place is always pretty busy for dinner. Though the food is good, I gave the place 3 stars because the service was pretty darn bad at lunch one time. We were the only people in the restaurant and everything that could go wrong, did. Like I said, the sushi is always good, if you like waiting for it. This was the only time I ever ate in the place because I usually do take out. However, this one time is all I can go off of.

NONONO! Sure, if you lived in some landlocked area of our country where fresh fish would be practically impossible to come by, then by all means, Sushi Tsu would be an excellent choice BUT only under those specific conditions. In a city such as Tampa which invites the warm, tropical stream of the Gulf of Mexico, the fish is so fresh and so good, that this is the least of your concerns for Sushi options in the city. When the fish is fine, then the attention is placed on the craftsmen that create the art of sushi and Sushi Tsu takes a back seat to the likes of Kaisen on Dale Mabry, and even Bonsai on Bears. Tsu is lacking in technical quality and technical quality is as big, not bigger, but as big as the freshness of seafood. It’s one of a few principles that sushi rests its foundation on. Amen.

The food is good but it isn’t as good as it use to be. I liked the food better when it was at the smaller location. I think it suffered some when it went to the larger location. The rolls are done well but the flavor kinda lacks that umph. I haven’t had the hibachi… but I am not a big fan of bland food cooked on a hot metal sheet. The food gets 2 stars. The service is good here. The staff is attentive. The bigger location is more comfortable. The service gives it 1 more star.

The USF Japanese Club planned a Sushi Social at Sushi Tsu and I was really impressed with how they catered to us as their customers. They went above and beyond, doing whatever they could do to make us feel comfortable, although it must have been challenging with such a big group in their restaurant. The food was good and everyone had a really great time there. You can read a more in-depth review with pictures in my Creative Loafing article at:

I have been going to Sushi Tsu since before it moved to it’s current location. It is my go to restaurant for sushi in New Tampa. They always have fresh, delicious sushi each and every time I have been there; and I have been there probably more than 100 times since I have been in Tampa. The consistency with which they provide excellent sushi is what makes it a GREAT place to eat. I would not hesitate in recommending this place to anyone looking for good sushi. The hibachi grill experience is also enjoyable; my wife and I mainly go with the kids for some onion volcano excitement. Also, not neglecting some of the lesser known menu items: We love the Gyoza(pan fried dumplings) and Hot udon noodle soup with various accompaniments. Having my self been to Japan 17 times over the years, I can tell you that Sushi Tsu most accurately reflects the look and taste of the food I eat there much more so than many other local Japanese restaurants. I hope this gives you a little push to go ahead and try Sushi Tsu. I do not think you will regret it.

I LOVESUSHITSU. Sushi is excellent. The hibachi grill is also awesome. Great for a large group, or even just a fun night for two.

As much as it hurts me to say this, I’ve experienced better which is why I had a hard time deciding what to give. However, the place looks really cool inside and I can tell our server was still a bit new. So we had to harmlessly tease her because she was cute. She was nice about it. I went with a small group and we waited for a hibachi grill for about 15 min. when it wasn’t even that busy. But we didn’t mind waiting because it gave us the chance to mosey around. The décor is really well laid out and creative. They even have like a zen like waterfall in the lobby. The menu is average and have decent choices for tappenyaki(grilled food cooked in front of you) and small choices of sushi. My date and I were not that hungry so we just ordered the Seafood Grill Iron Skillet with the choice of scallops and a volcano roll. The scallops tasted interesting cooked in a white wine sauce. But when the food was complete I was kind of disappointed. The server told me that I’d be getting rice with noodles and vegetables, only one person out of the group had it. So I had little amounts of noodles and vegetables. And I was disappointed that they didn’t have yummy yummy or goody goody sauce like Kobe or Arigato’s(miss so much), BUT I was pleasantly surprised we were graced with an actual Japanese chef. I may sound like a giddy school girl, but that is rare to have one here. When the volcano roll arrived, I was stunned. It looked nothing like a volcano roll I’ve ever seen. Most places I’ve had it from it normally looked like a volcano erupted, but instead the presentation looked like a sad roll made of regular California roll with a glob of light orange mush on each piece. It wasn’t even that spicy! I love spicy so we packed on the wasabi in the soy sauce until if finally reached my level of comfort. For such small portions, our bill was surprising. For just 5 people, we were still charged for an 18% gratuity. We were feeling nice so we didn’t complain about anything so we just let everything slide. I probably won’t come back anytime soon.
