TechSherpas

Not the worst IT training center I’ve been to, but it’s down there.

I had a good time training and thought the facility was a good place to learn. Like most training centers the machines were configured with the bare minimum amount of resources such as RAM so things just chugged along at a snails pace when doing something intensive.
I tried both on-​site and remote for the same class and found both to be equal. That says a lot since most remote options aren’t that great. They do need to provide the instructor 2 monitors though because the goto meeting dashboard was always on top of the slides.
All in all, it was a positive experience and I would recommend TechSherpas to others.
I would normally give this a 3 star rating but I had to increase it due to the fact that every day at 2:00 they give you freshly baked chocolate chip cookies!

Not impressed. They make it sound like they have training centers all over the country. But actually, they will only have the training in another city if there’s enough students. Which in my experience, rarely happens. You will just end up doing a remote conference. They also cancelled the training last minute multiple times. I will not use again.

This review is for the TechSheraps Ybor City LOCATION, not for a TechSherpas class.
My company arranged a training at this facility, taught by an outside (not TechSherpas, not my company) instructor. Since the class and the instructor is not from TechSherpas, please note that this is a review of the Ybor location.
This seems to be an unlikely place for a «techy» company, but you will find TechSherpas located on 7^th street. I was told that this is a temporary location, but that they’ve already been here for more than 2 years.
Their facilities are located on the second floor and they have several classrooms + a small kitchen area (that I’ve seen). When the instructor for our class got delayed due to a bout with food poisoning (DOH!), the TechSherpas folks were friendly, accomodating, and kept us updated on the situation.
Then they let us sit in the classroom and fool around online while we waited for an update. When it turned out that the instructor’s company was going to buy us all lunch for all the trouble, the TechSherpas staff took care of all the details. That was in addition to the coffee and muffins they provided in the early morning and then the snacks (Otis Spunkmeyer cookies!, chocolate, chips) they had out for us in the afternoon.
The room we’re in is comfortable and fits about 20 people. The computers in the training room are standard Dell desktops.
