Snack 4 of 6 of New Mexico Food Trip Extravaganza 2015 This is my first time eating in a place that’s over 800 years old. After touring Taos Pueblo we chose Mirabel’s over the other small restaurants at the pueblo, mostly because their sign said«no reheats.» We wondered, «Was that a dig at the place next door?» At Taos Pueblo, there are many one or two room buildings where the residents have chosen to sell jewelry, art, or food. Like the others, Mirabel’s is pretty sparse. In fact, I’m not completely sure the name is Mirabel’s. I think that was the name on the side.(Many restaurants have no signage.) Mirabel(I assume that’s her name) was quiet yet friendly, and we watched her husband expertly bead cloth with a hook for a hand. For $ 5 we got four decent sized pieces of Indian fry bread. We added some honey, cinnamon, and powdered sugar, and ate it outside on the bench while tourists passed us and asked if it was good.
