History

Established in 1994.

One of the last visages of old Taos, Touchstone is family owned since 1983 and has been in operation since 1994. The property is adjacent to Taos Pueblo lands and the Rio Pueblo and although modernized and updated in keeping with the integrity of its historical past, parts of the building date to circa, 1800. Visited over the years by many famous and infamous Taos characters, the property is mentioned in Mabel Dodge’s Winter in Taos, and in Miriam Hapgood DeWitt’s, Taos, A Memory. Housed on the property along with the inn are the offices of 501C3, Touchstone Foundation, Inc. with classrooms and studio spaces for workshops and seminars. Artists, songwriters, poets, playwrights, and mediums find the special ambiance of Touchstone to be conducive to the creative spirit. Many Taos Weddings have occurred at Touchstone where we wish our special guests blessings, wildflowers and blue skies.
