Tarpon Tavern

This place was great! We were in the mood for burgers and thank God for Unilocal — we found the perfect spot! Our waitress was Alissa and she was amazing — probably one of the best waitresses we’ve ever had. She was awesome with our boys — brought them over a little wind up, jumping car to play and entertain themselves with; gave us the password to their wi-​fi for the tablet without being asked; AND bribed them into eating all of their burgers with free ICE CREAM Sundaes! She was super attentive, she brought me over several samples of draft beer to try — I settled on Schofferhofer’s Grapefruit beer — LOVED IT! The beer was light and fruity, and so delicious and enjoyable.
The burger selection was great without being overwhelming. I had the Tarpon Tavern signature burger, it was cooked just as I preferred: light on the meat, medium well, and super tasty on their ciabatta roll. My husband had the pub burger with added bacon and Swiss on their pretzel roll — he loved it!
Alissa advised us of their $ 4.99 burgers on Mondays and invited us to return — needless to say we will!
The boys, hubby and I are very happy customers! Thanks for everything ALISSA!!!

This place is easy, local, clean and delicious! We are able to take our puppy to dinner and she gets to hang out with us while the staff spoil her and we eat delicious food!
With over 30 draft beers to choose from, I highly enjoy the Tarpon Tavern!

Found this gem driving around one day and decided to stop in for a drink or two. Ended up ordering the dang dang shrimp as well as a shrimp po boy. Both were absolutely amazing! Staff and atmosphere are very warm and welcoming! I will be back. Keep up the good

Excellent food. I had an outstanding rueben & boyfriend had (and always orders) the buffalo chicken sandwich. Pet friendly patio & always good music.

Started out with a bang with great food and friendly service. I was disappointed when food quality fell off. Still a great place and nice atmosphere, but my biggest complaint is inconsistent hours. I have on a number of times tried to stop for dinner between 8:30 and 9:30 and the tavern was dark and closed. I will try again, hopefully it has improved.

The food here is fantastic and flavored very well. Kudos to whoever came up with the menu My absolute favorite is the gorgonzola hot wings but honestly, you cannot go wrong with anything you order. Sandwiches are huge. You will need to eat them open face at first to get them small enough to bite into. They have a large selection of local brews on tap along with a variety of wines. I deducted a star because the selection of ciders is extremely limited. Being a cider fan I found that disappointing. Also, the sangria comes pre-​mixed-​yucky. I find it odd that a tavern wouldn’t make their own sangria-​even if they had to serve it without the liquor. The other downer is that, the restaurant gets packed quickly with no clear area to request a table so it can be a very disorganized task.

I’m a fan of the four food groups: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Burritos and Beer. A very trusted source told me that I had to go here and try their Guinness Burger. I stopped by one afternoon during the middle of the week to see what this burger was all about.
I entered, saddled up to the bar, and placed my drink order. I like the whole atmosphere and vibe. I hate to call a bar «cute», but it is. Totes adorbs. My drink arrived, and I went ahead and ordered the Guinness Burger. When it arrived, I was glad to see that it was a larger patty, it’s a personal preference. They also cooked it a perfect medium rare, bonus points.
The Guinness Burger is topped with a Guinness gravy, grilled mushrooms, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, and served on a pretzel bun. The pretzel bun was sweet and delicious, maybe the best pretzel bun I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty much all I could taste. It overpowered the flavor of the burger. It’s a dichotomy.
I’m going to make it a point to come back a try a simpler burger so I can taste what I’m pretty sure is a delicious patty.

Beer, Burgers and nice atmosphere… You won’t be disappointed!
Now that I have your attention…
BEER:
Had a ton of beers on tap to choose from, which is a big deal to us, and the waitress had great suggestions. When I said I wanted to try something different to drink but liked Stella and Fat Tire she mentioned I should try Carlsberg and it was really great!
APPITIZERS:
After ordering the Fried Mushrooms we were practically full! This order was enough for 4 – 6 people alone and the mushrooms were tremendous! I was a bit disappointed since they didn’t have much taste to them unless you used the dips, which were tasty. (they were horseradish and an orange colored zesty sauce)
We also ordered the seafood bread bowl which we shared. THAT was really great. Lots of shrimp in a white clam chowder type soup. GET THIS!
DINNER:
OMG. THIS was yummy! I ordered the New Yorker Burger. It had pastrami on it! SO GOOD and huge as well! I had to take half of it home along with the fries! Fries needed a little taste too though… a bit bland again… even the onion rings fell a little short on taste but overall so worth it.
ATMOSPHERE:
Nice bar inside but it was a bit small which we kinda expected for the area. There is a really nice open patio out back which is where we sat and were very comfortable.
… A side note for sitting outside… there were two families sitting near us who brought their dogs with them and the waiters had dog bowls they filled with water. You can take that either way but we don’t usually eat with our dogs so I might choose inside next time.

Amazing food, great customer service, and all around great atmosphere! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Tarpon Springs.

I really like this place. Good foods, nice vibe, plenty of seating and great staff.
We stopped in during one of the 1^st Fridays and threw down on some DANG DANG SHRIMPS and GROUPER. All was cooked perfectly and excellent in taste! In fact, the grouper sandwich landed itself in my top 10. I used to always order them fried, but as I get older, I am finding that I prefer them blackened and that is how mine was prepared here. Absolutely toothsome.
In addition to solid grub, they also feature a great draft selection. From the usual domestic suspects to the unusual craft beers, they’ve got most people covered. I order the Kentucky Bourbon Ale, which is one of my absolute personal favorites. That brew paired with the blackened grouper sammich made miracles happen on my taste buds.
Live music out back contributed to the fantastical atmosphere. Will definitely plan a return visit soon!

We were visiting family in the area and chose the place based on the reviews. You find your own table– which can be awkward. There was a good crowd and an interactive entertainer on our Friday night visit to the patio.
Probably the best tap list I have seen in the area. Good local brews were available including Fathead’s Headhunter from my hometown of Cleveland. The Tarpon burger had a fun mix of spinach, peppers, and a special sauce. Solid gastropub.

I typically only review when the food is outstanding and this review is true to that thinking. Best burger I’ve had in a couple of years, the fries were outstanding, stayed hot forever, as they just came out of the fryer, and the service was prompt. Nice selection of beer. I’d go back.

It was my first time venturing into the Tarpon Springs scene and I’m glad I saw some great reviews about the Tarpon Tavern and decided to check it out.
They have a really great beer selection on tap. I didn’t even bother to see what they had in bottles. I ended up with the head hunter Ipa and was not disappointed. Great beer!
Brenda was my bartender/​server and was very friendly and helpful! She even gave me some great ideas about things to do in the area.
The food was also great. They were willing to sub a veggie burger for chicken on one of their sandwiches and it was truly delicious pub food.
I’ll definitely be going back!

This is a great little spot in the heart of Tarpon Springs… The atmosphere is fun and very friendly with live music on several nights of the week. We stopped here for one of Tarpon Springs first Friday night events and had a blast… Our waitress Valesca was super awesome and took care of our every need rapidly and with superb customer service thus making our visit so well worth it and ensured a return visit. The beers are always served ice cold with many local Micro brews on tap, as for the food it was fresh and fantastic!!! The shrimp Po Boy recommended by our server Valesca was spot on!!! If your looking for a great friendly place then look no more and make it a point to stop on in and ask for Valesca!!!

My second visit to this tremendous little establishment showed me that my first visit was not a fluke, but that they can consistently impress with both their food and their employees.
The Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is perhaps one of the finest beers that I have ever tasted. It paird very nicely with a huge shrimp po’ boy that has enough shrimp for the sandwich plus a few more for the spouse plus any hovering children, as was my case.
The Burger simply named «The Stack», is an explosion of complete, pure, taste insanity. The beef is some of the best I’ve had for a burger in Florida and all of the layers of melted cheese and meat will leave you satisfied beyond content but leave your doctor shaking his head. What does he know anyhow?
Go! Grab a microbrew, get an awesome, stick to the ribs, make ya fat and sassy kind of meal! It is worth every cent.

I’ve been waiting to go here for over a year but have always had something else to do. I was impressed to see they have my favorite beer on tap. (St. Bernardus ABT 12)
This place is quite small but they have seating outside if the weather is cooperating.
I have to give them 5 stars because of their food quality. Their menu is creative and they have so many great choices from like seafood, burgers, chicken, pasta, flatbreads and more! What is there not to like?
This would be a great place for an Elite Squad event! (wink wink)
We ordered the Pollo Pesto Chicken sandwich and the Big Buffalo. Both of our sandwichs were excellent. I really enjoyed the chips drizzled with buffalo sauce and loads of gargonzola.
If you’re looking for some really good food give Tarpon Tavern a try.

Craft beer excellent

I have had meals and drinks here numerous times. The food is always great and the drinks are delicious as well. But, most importantly; the staff is always friendly, professional, and accommodating.
My favorite appetizer is the gorgonzola chicken fingers. I have sampled many things from the menu and they are all tasty. This is a great place to stop by when biking the trail as well.

I don’t usually venture very far from home, because St Pete has a lot to offer my stomach. After visiting this gem, I think I will be venture back here at the very least.
My friend and I happened to be around the corner (and practically starving) when we found this place on Unilocal (where else?). My friend is boarder line obsessed with buffalo chicken sandwiches, he orders one everywhere he goes if he hasn’t tried it yet. I rolled my eyes a little when he said that’s what he was getting and started hunting the menu for my next meal. I was attracted to a few items, and almost went with the fish tacos, but that buffalo chicken sandwich was calling my name.
Spoiler alert: I broke down and ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. I regret NOTHING.
We both ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. It traditionally comes with homemade chips drizzled with buffalo sauce and blue cheese. I was all for it until we were told how awesome the beer battered fries were. We took one of each, promised to share, and were confident in our decisions.
After ordering my Not Your Fathers Root Beer and relaxing, we talked to the bartender. She was just weird enough and seemed to love everything on the menu. I was skeptical, because no matter how good a place is there has to be SOMETHING on the menu you aren’t the biggest fan of. But I think I will believe her after this visit. We noticed the large beer selection, something like 30 beers on tap. I would have tried more if we didn’t have to drive almost an hour home.
When our sandwiches were delivered we were surprised. Normally when you order this the chicken is too big for the bun and hanging off. My new favorite buffalo chicken sandwich place doesn’t do this, they cut the chicken in half and place it on the bun so nothing is hanging off. Genius!!! And the buffalo sauce? So good. I’m pretty sure the base is Franks, but they add other stuff to it to make it even better. I swear, its the little things in life. Like good buffalo. And it comes on a brioche bun! Ahhh, so much of a good thing.
The fries were really good, they were kind of swirly and think but great. The chips were awesome. The service was great. I could only be happier if they were closer to the ‘Burg.

Right down the street from all the antique shops you’ll find the Tarpon Tavern. Lots of High top tables, a lovely out door seating section, they have a great selection of beers and wines on tap.
The food they offer is a varied selection of delighful choices. My salad was excellent and my husband’s burger looked juicy and flavorful!
