Sage Academy

My son started Sage at 3.5 and is currently in their summer camp. He absolutely loves Sage and so have we. The teachers are kind and supportive, the environment is enriching and educational and the facilities are kid friendly. The teachers communicate regularly with parents and share their insights as to our child’s development and daily activities. The administrators (Kristi and Wendy) are beyond superb; they have been very supportive of our family, flexible with our needs, and very approachable and always available. We look forward to enrolling our now 1 year old son at Sage Academy in the next year of so.

BEST PRE SCHOOL EVER!!! I have toured about 10 schools in the valley and I just love Sage so much. My son, who is 2 years old, has been going to Sage for 6 months now and I could not be happier. The teachers are AMAZING and always motivated, they actually play with the kids rather than just «watch» them. My son talks about his teachers and friends everyday. The administrative staff is always helpful and on top of everything. They organize the cutest events at the school. The children are always happy and curious, the classrooms and outdoor areas are always clean and inviting. All the parents I know are really happy there.

My 2&half years old son loves Sage. He is been going to Sage Academy since he turned 2. This private pre-​school is one of the best school that i know in the Encino-​Tarzana area. Very big and convenient parking lot. Big room and verity of toys, educational book, and etc…
My husband and i are very happy with all the staff members. Most importantly, our son comes home every day with lots of funny stories that happened durian the day at Sage. Smile on my sons face is the most important thing in our life. Thank you Sage for providing such a safe, friendly, happy, educational environment for our beloved children.

This school is ok! The teachers are great, but there are a few down falls! I picked up my daughter one day and the ratio was not safe, 1:16 wow! The directors leave early and leave the teachers to fend for themselves! Kristi the director is never there, and she wants to resolve everything Through email! Just found out that 4 teachers left, wow, what does that say about this school!!! These teachers were awesome and were there for more than 5 years! Since my oldest graduated from there, she is ten now! I will no longer recommend this school to my friends and family!

I just toured this preschool and was very impressed. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once inside I was thrilled. Impeccably clean, lots of activities (that always change) for the kids, and the assistant director Wendy was really thorough, helpful and knowledgeable. You can tell a lot of love goes into this place. I love the organic food options and the fact that they use «green» products, like Seventh Generation antibacterial wipes for their diaper changing stations. The organic garden area is huge too! The teachers all seemed calm and caring and very involved with all the activities. I haven’t been to a preschool yet where the kids are actually sitting in the reading corner (during free play outside) and reading to each other! I felt like I was in a fairytale dream preschool-​land. Definitely worth checking out if you are touring preschools.

HIDDEN GEM:
Our family toured probably every preschool in the valley before deciding on Sage (the last school we toured, on the recommendation of a friend, and the only school that was so clearly right for us that we signed up immediately). Our little boy has been going there since he was 2−½ (now he is just barely 4), and we have made wonderful friends through the incredible parent community that this school attracts!
First, the teachers we have had the fortune to help educate our little boy have been truly unique and amazing (the kind of teachers our boy will still remember back on with love when he is 15, and even when he is 40). There is an incredible outdoor space, a garden, a bike yard, two outdoor playground areas, etc.; the classrooms are filled with ever-​changing toys and are incredibly sweet; and the teachers truly go beyond reasonable expectations due to their commitment to the kids and because they love their profession. For the younger kids there is an emphasis on social development (following the conscious discipline approach, which for us has been a wonderful model — our little boy is filled with love and empathy and has made great friends), and now that our little man is in pre-​K there it is also remarkably how many things he is learning (within weeks of starting pre-​k, he started magically writing his own name wherever he could find crayons and paper, and he is recognizing many words!) At drop off there are always different interesting projects going on (every day is different, with different activities at different tables, and there are different themes for every week) and when we drop our boy off he is always excited about what is new. They also have occasional guests (e.g., the UPS guy, the fireman, even a therapy dog), and in any event — whenever I ask my boy what he has learned on a particular day, it is always different and interesting! Added Bonus (not to be underestimated): the school is in a nice neighborhood, in a secured building and next to a large generally-​empty parking lot, making drop-​off and pick-​up easy! Many of the parents are working professionals (the school is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. making this a unique option), but there is also great diversity in the parent community and a diverse student body, and unlike many school environments in the LA area, there is absolutely no pretension. The parents who choose this school have chosen it simply because they want a wonderful educational opportunity for their child.

I was totally obsessed with touring every preschool on the planet before I chose Sage and my research totally paid off! This is an adorable, unassuming little school with a real family/​community vibe.
We have the biggest play yard, outdoor space and bike track of any preschool I’ve seen. We have tons of green space. The teachers are loving and kind and even though this is a developmental preschool and not heavy on the academics, my son was totally prepared to enter Kindergarten and is thriving. My younger daughter is still there, enjoying a wonderfully small class with 10 kids and 2 teachers.
Don’t be fooled by Sage’s low tuition. This isn’t some cheapo «you get what you pay for» school. It’s top notch. My friends all went to fancy, extremely expensive schools and our kids had the same experiences and are doing equally well in Kinder.
Sage is also great because it starts kids at 2 years old, rather than the 2.75 yrs old that so many schools require. This allows for greater flexibility based on your child’s birthday. They have extended care as well, great for working parents.
The school is technically on the same property as a church, but is totally unaffiliated with the church. They simply rent the space there.
You should definitely check it out if you are touring preschools!

I have worked with a lot of preschools. This school is the best I have experienced. There is little drama, the teachers are weeded out and only the best of them best remain. The school is very clean and the staff is very polite. The genuineness of the teachers is real. They say character is what you have when no one is looking? Well they are right. When the parents aren’t around the teachers are exactly the same, very patient, loving and caring. Rating? A+++++

I visited a lot of preschools before I decided on Sage for my first daughter. She went for three years and loved every day of it. Now I have twins in their third year at the school. I recommend it to all my friends because 1) You cannot get a bad teacher. They are all warm, smart, creative and attentive 2) It’s developmental and fun for kids just the way I remember preschool from when I was a kid 3) It’s small and nurturing. Kristi and Wendy the directors of the school are easy to talk to and committed to helping make sure your kids are happy and healthy. They honestly do not seem to be in it to make a buck the way a lot of schools are. I honestly have no complaints and every time I see a family taking a tour of the beautiful campus I stop them to let them know how much I love it (and to show off my twins). Kristi and Wendy probably get embarrassed because it seems like I’m a shill but I’m not, I’m just a big fan of Sage.

my daughter has been going to Sage since pre-​school and is finishing out her last year in first grade. i never feel worried when dropping her off here, and she loves coming here every single day. it is a bit pricey, but worth it if you have the money. initially i put her in this school since they went up to grade 6, but now they only go up to first grade.
