This is a wonderful San Fernando Valley coffee shop. The service is really friendly and prompt. The food is in all cases adequate sometimes great. It is a great place to walk from my office at Burbank and Reseda Boulevard for lunch. Check out to John Wooden’s favorite booth and say hi to Paul the manager who will greet you as you come in.

What Can I say, my father drives all the way from Long Beach just to eat at this café and drink their delicious 100% orange juice(You actually see it being squeezed out of fresh oranges.) This is a very cute family oriented place to eat weekend breakfast or brunch. Also beats waiting your turn at the other chain restaurants… you know what I am talking about! P. S. The owner always warmly welcomes you. :)

Apparently this café has been around for a while and John Wooden used to go here a lot, and even had his own favorite booth. I knew they existed because the boss lady always comes to eat at the restaurant I used to work at nearby. My coworker would always tells me that she owns a café and that it’s pretty popular. Finally gave this a try and it didn’t disappoint! I think it’s owned by a Chinese couple and the husband was the only who was there when I went. He was so nice and friendly, so were the other waiters. They had American breakfast selections, as well as Asian’s selection. I tried the breakfast burrito and it was pretty good! People on Unilocal said that the orange juice is freshly squeezed and I ordered that as well. It was soo good! Just like how my mom used to make when I was little.

My very first review and I have to say this place is terrible. The service was horrible to the point where we had to ask for refills on coffee up at the counter. The waitress ignored us, never bothered to check on us and the food quality seemed really poor. I realize restaurants, like people, may have a bad day, but on all counts this place was bad.

I’ve been here twice and I LOVE their chicken and waffles. I also get their iced coffee and I love that their ice cubes are coffee iced coffee cubes. This not a fancy spot but it is a cute diner and all of the servers seem nice. This is my go to spot in the valley to get some chicken and waffles. Can’t wait until the next time I get the craving. Also there is plenty of parking in the back which is nice. My meal came out to about $ 14 can’t complain. Yummmmm

A colleague and I found that a good breakfast before work really sets the bar for what kind of work day you’re going to have. After having a good solid breakfast and a good sales day, we decided to come back again and try for second good sales day. This morning I come in, order for us and start grubbing. I’ll admit the chorizo burrito was pretty good, but just as I’m finishing it my colleague finds a lovely strand of hair in his food. We immediately notify the waitress who acted upon it properly, however it was then when the owner came up. He apologizes for situation and says we would not be charged for the meal and offers to remake the order for him. My colleague declines the offer until the owner promises that his remade food will be perfect so he says okay. He gets the food, takes few bites and just cannot stomach it. Finding a foreign object in your meal really traumatizes your desire to continue reading, you know? We get the bill and see that they hadn’t removed the order from the check so we bring it to the owner. The owner days it was replaced and he was responsible for paying it even though he offered to remove it at the beginning of the issue. When my colleague says that he would not pay for the plate the owner repeatedly calls him cheap and kicks us out of the restaurant and says that he isn’t welcome in his establishment. The owner legitimately went for 0 to 100 in a mastery of 5 seconds even though my colleague refrained from being loud, rude or obnoxious like most had been. If you like hair in your food, being harassed and being spoken down to, this is your place!

Let me start by saying they’re not really worth 4 Stars… more like 3… but I gave them an extra one due to the fact they serve FRESHLYSQUEEZED Orange Juice. It’s surprising that most breakfast places here do NOT have that… yet they call themselves Breakfast restaurants… no good breakfast can be complete without a fresh OJ !! VIP’s Café however has the machine that squeezes them on the spot… and it’s SUPERB ! The only thing I would like to see is more cup sizes — like a full jar of OJ, not just medium cups as they are not big enough for one thirsty man that loves his fresh OJ … :) OWNER: Please offer a full Jar of OJ for the price of $ 10-$ 12, and I’ll come EVERYDAY !! Now for the food — they do go for the classic«old school» diner dishes and it’s priced OK for the amount they give. I wouldn’t say cheap… as all the other diners I went to were the same or cheaper… but it’s definitely reasonable. We tried probably all their dishes by now… we go there quite a lot — and I have to admit some are good… some not so much… My favorites are actually the simple dishes like the Smoked Salmon bagels with capers, or the salmon omelette… but the French toast is good as well. I wouldn’t say their Pancakes are bad, as they are MUCHWORSE at IHOP… but they are not amazing either. But you know, they are fine in American standards… Bad in European… ;) The service is OK — the owners are great… and always very helpful. And overall it’s a nice family-style place that is fun to go for breakfast on the weekends… it has a nice atmosphere and home style food… though I am not that picky when it comes to Breakfast — I go there mostly for the FRESH Orange Juice ! And yes — it’s American food joint, run by an Asian couple… so what? they are doing great job !! :)

Vip’s Café has the classic«old school» breakfast. Food is cheap and good. This place has been here for quite some time(18 years?), and the staff is familiar and friendly. I had the waffle, 2 sausage, and eggs. It was good and hit spot. No frills here, very straight forward. Breakfast was cheap, I would come back again.

Food was salty, my friends food was also salty and no flavor. Coffee tasted like it was a week old and irony. Service was terrible! They greeted other people before us, even tho I was there before them. The waiter seem like he was hungover or wasn’t in the mood to work. I would rather eat at Denny’s.

Not bad for a coffee shop run by an Asian guy. I love that there’s not only a decent selection of breakfast/lunch foods, but there’s also sides of rice and wonton soup. I chuckled to myself when I read that. The price is definitely worth it, if you’re in the area.

A fine AAAAA+++++ establishment. The owner is also there quite often to greet you and maybe even take your order. They provide ample quantity of real«half & half» with coffee. They are generous with the condiments like«Smuckers jelly & jam». It’s just superstar service. You really get the impression they are 3 steps above any competitors. I can tell you the French toast is fresh and delicious.

My birthday was a week ago and breakfast is my favorite food. We almost went to our usual Blu Jam or More than Waffles, but I wanted to try something different. Those places are good of course, but so trendy. I just wanted a good, hearty breakfast. I found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. It’s in a little office building on Ventura, there’s a parking lot behind that takes validation. Anyway, were immediately greeted by who I assume is the owner. He was so friendly, so smiley and I felt happier just being around him! You could feel the energy and how much he loved his regular customers and how happy he was. These are the kind of people who I want to support in business. The food was delicious. I got bacon, hash browns, biscuits and eggs. I got four huge pieces of bacon, two ginormous biscuits and a giant helping of hash browns. And get this– nothing was greasy. I’ve been to a lot of breakfast joints and not one of them has EVER delivered me a clean plate like that. I mean… I would be comfortable using that surface as a pillow– that’s how dry it was!(And dry in a good way– the food wasn’t dry) I was thoroughly impressed by VIPs and I will absolutely be back again for some bacon and biscuits. Maybe some fried rice next time! Seriously people, if you want good, quality food and good, quality company– come here. You won’t regret it.

I was already on the fence about this place but it had so many good reviews from people i was like screw it lets give it a try. Came in Sunday morning and it was a bit crowded but there were 2 seats at the counter so my husband and I snatched them right up. Lucky for us the seats were right in front of the kitchen. Our waitress took our order fairly quickly. I decided to go with the chicken and waffles special. First off its not even a whole waffle, its a half of a waffle — wtf!!! I thought that was BEYOND weird. They gave you tons of chicken but half a waffle — which is like the cheapest thing on the plate. As far as the chicken it was piping hot out of the fryer and fried pretty well — there was a drumstick, wing, thigh and breast so lots of chicken. My husband ordered one of their specials that was basically 2 eggs, hash, 2 strips of bacon and toast. They fired that up quickly and we sat there watching it sit on the pass for no less than 5 minutes as it died. The kitchen seemed like they had horrible communication because where as common sense would tell you the chicken and waffles take longer to make, you would make the eggs a bit later… nope they just sat there on the pass… and sat… and sat… and we watched it. Until the waitress finally was like oh okay ill give it to him and passed it right off to us. She didn’t even need to take a step. Just a pivot. Great everyone loves luke warm food. You know whats even better than luke warm food??? Food with hairs in it. YESPLURAL! Not one, Not 2 but THREE hairs in it! DISGUSTING! Oh and the toast had that nice burn on it that we all know and love. Clearly the health dept needs to come back and check this place out. Beyond the hairs I also noticed that the waitress as she was delivering plates may have had the mound of butter they slap onto these small paper cuts tip over with her finger sticking right into it. DISGUSTING! Did she toss it out or get a new one… nope just served up the plate buttery finger and all. Screw this place. Its old, Run down and they dont give a damn or have any care about their customers or the food they are putting out. GROSS

VIP is a fantastic family owned neighborhood diner that offers great breakfast fare at great prices! I have been going for about 15 years now. I have never even ventured off of the breakfast menu cause I love all of their breakfast dishes so much! They have some kind of special ingredient in the pancakes that make them extra tasty! I have yet to find any — anywhere else that taste as good on their own sans butter and syrup! The house salsa is made fresh daily and as such, can vary slightly — but is always delicious! And the newly added FRESHORANGEJUICE maker is AWESOME! In short — everything is wonderful! The family is always welcoming to customers! The staff is busy serving you as fast as they can making sure you have everything you need. And now and then you might spot celebrities as the popularity of the place is growing. I have since moved away from the area and still go back to have breakfast there as often as I can because I can’t find a new«breakfast place» in my area that beats it!
