What sucks? Smoke detector was beeping from the second we stepped in. called front desk multiple times to no avail. Went and bought a 9 volt battery ourselves to shut it up already! BOTH AC vents in BOTH bathrooms leak on you while you are sitting on the toilet. fast sh*ts!
The unit we stayed in was SCREAMING for an upgrade for the price we paid! Dishwasher falls out of sleeve. we didnt dare try and use. needs updates and upgrades in that whole unit or charge the «unupgraided» price, not the same as the others with updated appliances n granite tops.
2 bedroom 2 bath supposed to sleep 6. not nearly enough towels for 6 ppl since we were 4 ½ and had to call for towels multiple times

Unbelievable– absolutely unbelievable ridiculous inefficient check in. I will pay anything to stay any where else. This is a total scam shit show after 10 hours of travel from Denver — total assholes. They can keep their stupid rates — pool is under construction fur 6 months — they are absolutely oblivious to customer service.

First of all, bear in mind that Tavernier, FL is a small, lower income community (with its own zip code) on Key Largo. Ocean Pointe is probably the largest property within Tavernier. The entire facility is showing its age, and is in dire need of a facelift. While the square footage of the suites is ample, the physical condition of the space leaves much to be desired. Carpeting is lined with traffic «trails» and is in need of being replaced, or at least shampooed. Anything with fabric, (furniture, curtains, etc) is stained from years of use. Walls are in dire need of paint. Be careful when you switch a lamp on, as most the finials that hold the shades in place are missing! Windows and sliding glass doors hadn’t seen any Windex in months. Internet signal ($ 6.95 per day) is extremely slow.
As far as the facilities, the snack bar was closed most of the time, when it was open, bar & tables were full of used plates and glasses. Other common areas were also in need of some TLC. On the brighter side, the pool and tennis courts were well maintained, suites are equipped with a washer & dryer, & there was ample parking for boats on trailers.
However, dollar for dollar, next time I’d probably opt for a chain hotel or B & B the next time.

Everything about our stay was exceptional. The only thing that wasn’t nice was their breakfast, it took 45 minutes to get it and it wasn’t crowded. They didn’t have decaf coffee, who doesn’t have decaf. I would go back, I’d just eat somewhere else

This place was the biggest pain. I will never stay here nor suggest it. When we checked in we decided to bring our boat after the fact. So there was a new guy at the gate that did not know how to do this. You had to check your boat at the gate before you could bring it on the property. To boot they told us we needed ³⁰⁰⁄₁₀₀ insurance coverage to have our boat on the property. No where in any paperwork prior to our arrival did it say this. Needless to say our check-​in took 40 min! Then I still have to go to the office and check in! They made us leave the boat attached to our vehicle across the street. And they would not let us bring the boat in to load all of our dive equipment, spear guns, tackle, coolers and dry bags. The head security guy Van was so rude to us. We paid $ 1400. For 4 days to stay in an old beat up suite. That they wouldn’t let us in early so 4 o’clock check-​in and out by 10:00 a.m. That’s a full day there we lost. When we walked in to set our luggage down the rack, it was broke. We had one wash cloth and 4 towels for four days (we had to wash our own if we wanted clean) the dishes that were there were not clean. There was a sharp knife set that had two knives in it. The water pressure was maybe just enough to turn the shower on. Can’t open the microwave door because it hit the wall. The pool closes every at at 7:30! Are you kidding me 7:30? I didn’t bring kids but I can’t imagine having kids here and then having anything to do for them after dinner. The staff was not accommodating at all! I live here and we come to the keys several times a year and have no problems! I will go back to the Post Card Inn or the Coconut Cove.

We stayed here last week and were satisfied with it. We were in a deluxe 2 bedroom/​2 bath that was current in décor. The kitchen had what we needed. The newly remodeled pool was nice and the DJ was a nice touch. The beach is not anything great but not sure how it compares to others, this was my first time in the keys. At check in the staff was friendly. We were a bit underwhelmed with the bar. We were hoping for something a little more fun to hang out at. Parking was convenient and we didn’t have trouble finding a spot. I never ate at the café so I cannot comment on that.
Every employee I encountered said hello and was friendly. The grounds area was kept up and had some nice features.

Stayed here for 5 nights to attend a wedding. While the 2 bedroom suite was very nice (2 bathrooms, TV, spacious living room, clean kitchen with some utensils and appliances), a couple things brought down the rating.
1. The pool was under renovation which was very disappointing.
2. Room service did not come in to clean the room or make the beds even once over the course of the 5 days. Anything over 3 days should automatically call for at least a quick cleaning of the rooms.
3. We had to call for fresh towels, and actually go to pick up soap and shampoo.
4. Hair dryer in one of the bathrooms was broken which was quite inconvenient.
Things we liked — buffet breakfast for ~$ 10 a person, the marina, convenient elevators, walk along the beach area, the dishwasher, beach towels provided in rooms.

Just got done with this place. Pool is under renovation which we were not told. The café was closed for repairs. We were told that it would be open the next day but upon going there it was still closed. The room seemed not cared for. Couch was practically broken and there were white stains all over it. Housekeeping left the room pretty bare when it came to toiletries and such. The view was amazing though and the staff was extremely nice.

I am quite surprised how many negative reviews exist for this place but it does seem the hotel is doing some renovation works. I can spot modification and re-​decoration in my room, which is in the Marine building, but I am more than satisfied with this place.
The room is huge and equipped with all the things you need after a muddy and messy beach day. The shower works well and everything looks clean. The pool is still under construction but who need a pool at key largo? There are tons of other sea stuff to do and we have been kept busy all day with all the water sports. The private beach is nice and you are welcome with two towels in the room that you can take to the beach. Our room has a balcony facing the sea and it looks gorgeous in the morning. We got our room through priceline special deal and I would suggest you try the same. The price we paid is much lower. Though they ask you to pay for wifi, you can easily connect to a guest wifi account for free.
One thing negative about this hotel is that I did not get to see any water sports agency on site. Hilton nearby has carribean watersports company, so you can easily go on a boat tour if you stay there. Overall this place is definitely lovely and satisfying.

So much to say so I’m breaking it down a little :)
Front Desk: 5 stars! Nathan was great. When we first arrived to check in he was very welcoming and attentive and was multi-​tasking like a pro. We had booked with another party in two separate rooms and we was able to get us pretty close to one another. When we had questions about where to eat and what to do he had the information ready to go.
Bar: 2 stars, there was only on bartender who apparently was also cooking the food (or atleast that is what we were told). So if there was more than two people at the bar, we were expected to wait a long time. Not sure if this is management’s fault for under staffing but this was not a one time occurrence. It happened once for dinner and late night, and then again the next day during breakfast. We left the property for lunch and dinner because of the inconvenience of the bar service. Even if there was a cocktail waitress down by the beach, we would have stayed the entire day, but the bar access is a little inconvenient as well. So much potential not being used here.
Overall Property: 3 stars, the pool was under construction and I had no idea until we arrived (we booked online and it did not mention that). This was frustrating and I wish they would have mentioned this to us earlier. They do have a swingset which was nice for the kids, and I also really like the water toys (kayaks etc) that was included for us to use at the beach.
Rooms: 4 stars, our room was clean, the view was amazing and I really liked the beachy style and feel, it felt like a vacation home for sure! Loved the washer and dryer (which we used after getting sand on almost everything!) Did not like the used cans of paint in the closet. We stayed for 2 nights and housekeeping never came to clean or provide new towels.

Best thing about our stay was all the wonderful people that were staying here.
I realize these are privately owned condos, but the management company drops the ball when it comes to oversite.
Had to sit down and make a list upon occupation of room to note damages and avoid any issues upon check out. Issues that the front desk had «No idea»??
Their «beautiful pool» when we arrived wad under renovation? That would’ve been nice too know ahead of time.
The room (5304) was disturbing.
A gallon of used paint set on top of the gas water heater (unsafe)
Several maintenance issues of broken items (toilet paper holder, patio blinds etc…)
The most troubling was the stained couch that included part of the carpet… disturbing and I hope it isn’t bodily fluid.

Overall, my time at Ocean Pointe was a positive experience.
The suites are very comfy and have the full kitchen with a washer/​dryer. While the suite isn’t very modern, it’s very comfortable and you’ll feel at home. The Whirlpool bath tub is amazing. The resort has a private beach which is small but very cute as well as a pool and a few courts.
Check in was easy and they let us come in early and they were very nice at the front desk. I liked it and I would come again.

This is the worst-​managed hotel I have ever experienced. A fire started in the kitchen of the first room we had. The smoke alarm did not function. We only knew of the fire because our eldest child noticed it and called my wife for help. Fortunately, the fire was put out and we were relocated to another room without much problem.
Management decided (without investigation) that the fire was somehow our fault. Management also took NO responsibility for the non-​functioning smoke detector. Their answer? «Sometimes the batteries go out.» Our quick-​thinking pre-​teen got the word out quickly and it’s a good thing she is not battery operated.
At check-​out, management had the audacity to attempt to charge us $ 550 for damage to the room. I stated that we would not pay for damage that we did not cause. I wrote a written statement that I left with the hotel that any such charge would not be authorized. The weekend manager said that he had no ability to remove the charge and that the general manager would contact me. The GM never called.
Instead, I discovered that the hotel decided to charge my card, despite the fact that it was unauthorized. We are handling this matter with our credit card company.
This hotel is managed by inept, inattentive, and deceitful staff. They failed to properly maintain the smoke alarm, but want to sweep that under the rug and charge us for damage that randomly occurred.
Their are dozens of places to stay in the Florida Keys — avoid this one at all costs.

Just wrapped up 5 day FL keys vacation with our two sons… Got scuba certification from great dive center Florida Keys Dive Center — they suggested Ocean Pointe — Nathan at front to greet us — very nice … Condo very nice — worried after reading some reviews — but décor nice room clean & great views! Beds were comfortable too! Only suggestion is more items in kitchen to assist cooking for families! Thanks for great stay!

We stayed in a 2bedroom ocean view suite over the weekend. It came with a full kitchen, a washer/​dryer, and a king and a queen bed.
Everything was great — the employees were all outgoing, friendly, and helpful.
The ONLY complaint we had was the size of the balcony. There were four of us and only enough room for two small chairs — it was uncomfortable for everyone to be outside at the same time.
We definitely plan on coming back!

Great place, have enjoyed staying here two years in a row. Wake up to mangrove trees and endless ocean.

Update: I decided to change my rating to 3 stars because of the excellent customer service and sincere friendliness of the staff.
The owner should just invest in some updates to the units, get rid of the carpeting and make all units tile floor, and ban smoking on the beach and this would get 5 stars.

We scuba dive in the Keys, and have been here quite a few times. The positives: big enough for more than one family to stay, so if you are diving with friends, this works. Kitchen in the rooms (these are condos) so, you can have fun and enjoy the day after a post-​dive nap with food you’ve bought nearby.
So, overall, great! And centrally located to lots of dive locations.
Then again, the rooms are dated — these were obviously purchased by people who just wanted an investment, and allow the condo renters to manage them — and not so well. The furnishings are very tired, (we «fell through» one couch seat as it totally gave out), the rooms are not the cleanest, and the surroundings (pool, elevators, parking) seem very very tired.
Then again — we haven’t found anything around the area any better. So we will «do it again», but just wish Ocean Pointe did better, or someone did. At least the diving is GREAT!

Arrived here late last night on a long overdue and much needed vacation. We were greeted at the desk by Yvette her customer service was outstanding. I had read mixed reviews about the rooms and was a little nervous about what were going to end up with. She assured me that we were in a great room. Upon arrival to our room I have to say that I was so relieved! We have a beautifully decorated brand new looking 1 bedroom suite. It is very clean also. It was dark when we arrived so I haven’t seen the view outside yet. But our reservation promised us an ocean view. Will check when I get up this morning but so far so good.
