I called in to do a pick up. The conversation lasted longer than I expected because I had to repeat my order three times. Now, I’m use to Chinese restaurant combos including rice and two sides. This place only offers one, and the default rice is chicken fried(i.e. chicken fried rice and sesame chicken). Everything else is an extra charge. So I ended up spending $ 21 for two dinner combos and 2 egg foo yung patties. When I arrived to pick up my order, I had to call the place AGAIN because the door was locked. As for the food, average. It wasn’t extraordinary. It wasn’t bad. Just average. Their packaging does need work, as they put sweet and sour sauce in a cardboard container, which leaked. They also did the same with the egg foo yung patties and gravy. So it got kind of messy.

Pros: delivery. It’s so rare Downriver that it warrants a mention. Also, their chicken texture was pretty good, which is not common in my experience with a fast food style Chinese place. The tempura coating on the fried chicken was delicious. Lastly, large portions. Cons: Flavor. True to all the reviews written before, the fried rice is terrible. Even with salt and soy sauce, it was bland, yet awful — almost plasticy tasting. The sauces were equally bland. Everything needed lots of salt. I ordered the Szechuan and Sesame chickens with fried rice.

I used to work downriver and would order from MING’S frequently. I’m not going to lie .the place looks like a dump. It’s in an abandoned strip mall on Eureka Road. If memory serves me correctly, the only other business in the strip mall(In and Out party store) closed… making MING’S the only business left. That being said, the food has always been tasty, hot and order correct. Delivery is quick. Service is great! Prices very reasonable. I ordered from here almost weekly. The only thing I’ve ordered from here personally is the Szechuan chicken combo… it was delicious!!! The egg rolls are best around too! Too bad I don’t work downriver anymore…1 hour is too far to drive for carryout…

I have never done a negative review but I just couldn’t let this one pass. We placed our order for delivery which came fairly quickly but in a mess. We ordered dishes that had sauces and they put them in their regular little cardboard boxes and a lot of leaking occurred. .messy! They should have used foil containers or Styrofoam boxes. Then after cleaning up and opening up the boxes, the order was mixed up but we decided to not create a problem and keep what came. Now, for the food? I don’t know about the other reviews but this was some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life. … and I’ve seen many moons! The food was tasteless and lacked any kind of flavor. Sorry, we won’t do it again.

After reading some of the Google Reviews, I feel something needs to be clarified: If you’re looking for expert cuisine and a five-star dining experience, you should skip this Chinese restaurant in a crappy strip-mall in Taylor. Just a thought. That been said, the brilliant thing about Ming’s Kitchen isn’t necessarily their food either. It’s standard-fare Chinese. They don’t have a website or a menu online because they don’t need one. They have the same stuff that tastes exactly the same as every-other-Chinese-place I have ever been to. No, the brilliant thing about Ming’s is their SERVICE. This is something that is incredibly lacking around here unfortunately, so I see why they are so popular. I’ve seen them filling huge delivery orders for the airport. Yes, I said delivery… they do it, and well. I’ve ordered in monsoons and blizzards, and they never take longer than what they promise-45 minutes. Plus they deliver to a substantial area. I’ve tried ordering from other places that won’t deliver outside of their CITY no matter if you’re a mile away or not. Ming’s goes by mileage. Another good point to make… I’ve never had an order screwed up. I admit, there’s a lady that answers the phone sometimes that makes me nervous. Every time I order from her, I’m convinced she didn’t understand me and I’m going to have a duck in my bag or something… but, I’ve never had an issue. Oh, and no cash? They take credit card orders over the phone, AND you can put the driver’s tip on there too. What’s not to love about that?

Horrible!!! Chicken was a memory of elementary… days of crappy food. The rice was nothing but grease, I can still taste it.

This place is delicious. All there is to it. At first sight, this place looks like a dump. It’s right next to a shitty liquor store that gets robbed all the time and the parking lot is small and covered with potholes and cracks. But it doesn’t matter. The food is delicious. The owners are usually there and they always seem friendly. They seem to hire their sons friends who are usually less enthusiastic about being there and don’t smile. But it doesn’t matter. The food is delicious. There is no real seating inside, just enough for you to wait for your food. They also have delivery but I’ve never had it so I can’t comment on how that is. There usually isn’t a long wait time, the food isn’t over priced, and the portions are large. The place could use a good updating though, without question. I’ve been going here since I was a kid, so maybe I’m bias. But I think it’s some of the best Chinese food I’ve had. Give it a shot if you are in the area.
