We have proudly been serving Taylor, MI and the entire Downriver area since 1979. Our state of the art dental facility offers the best comprehensive, preventive and cosmetic dental care available. We treat every patient like they were family. And we’re not satisfied unless you are.

We are alsoextremely involved in the Taylor Community and partner with the City of Taylor, Taylor Rotary, Fish & Loaves Food Pantry for special events. Each fall we host a day of free dentistry for those in need called Dentistry From the Heart. The people of Taylor have been good to us and we want to give back!

History

Established in 1980.

Our comprehensive dental care practice — located in Taylor MI for over 30 years — concentrates on family and cosmetic dentistry. Our dental team members are extremely experienced and knowledgeable about dental health and all dental procedures such as Lumineers, Snap-On Smile, porcelain veneers, dental implants, teeth whitening, and permanent crowns and bridges. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have at any time.

Dr. Steven Shwedel graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, in 1972, & has been practicing in Taylor for over 30 years. He is well known in the Taylor area for quality of his dental work & superb service he and his staff provide to all patients. Dr. Shwedel keeps up to date by taking many continuing education classes each year, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive dental care. He is committed to offering patients the most advanced techniques and best materials in dentistry. The office has state of the art technology set in a warm, friendly, relaxed environment.

Dr. Shwedel is very involved in the Taylor Community. He participates in local Health Fairs, the Family Enrichment Fair with the Taylor Schools, Turn Off the Violence with the Taylor Rotary and Fishes and Loaves (a community food pantry). On Saturday September 8, 2012, Dr. Shwedel will be hosting the 4^th Annual «Dentistry from the Heart.» It will be an event offering free dentistry to anyone in need.

This is the best dentist experience I’ve ever had. The office is top-notch, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and most importantly the service and quality of the medical care is superb. And have been to many dentists (both hi-end and low-cost) and I have far from perfect teeth. I was initially concerned because this office seemed too good to be true. You get a gift bag when you go in as a new patient, and lots of extras. The x-rays, exam and cleaning were the most thorough I have ever had. And I was thinking, «OMG I am going to end up with a $ 1k bill or more from this!» So I spoke up and asked if anything they were doing today was NOT covered by my basic Delta Dental plan. They double-checked and it was all covered, less my $ 60 copay. My advice would be to speak up at the beginning and let them know you need to be told if anything is not covered by your insurance ahead of time. The staff is so helpful and will be more than happy to accommodate you. I’ve already referred 3 of my friends and 2 family members. I highly recommend this dentist office.

This dentist is amazing! I go here for my 6 month cleanings and I got my veneers here. He did an awesome job. Every time you leave he gives you a flower and he does everything he can to make sure you’re comfortable. The dental hygienists are great too! Very friendly and sweet. I definitely recommend this dentist!

I was very disappointed with the way I was treated by the staff. My concerns were dismissed and I was treated rudely. When I shared my concerns with Dr. Shwedel he basically told me that if I didn’t like the way I was treated I could find another dentist. Then I was invited to share my experience on Unilocal.Talk about lack of customer focus or concern for patients.

I havent been to the dentist in a good 10 years. BAD me. I am nervous of the dentist, so I avoid it. I also don’t have insurance for dental. anyway, I had a tooth bothering me, so I sucked it up and called this place, based on the positive Unilocal review.
Anyway, place was awesome. Super friendly staff, professional atmosphere. I needed some work done, and they fit me in for a cleaning and filling same day. Prices are kinda high, but since I have not gone in 10 years…
Highly recommend this place. They gave me a cute little goody bag and two carnations when I left. Nice little touches.

I’ve been going to Dr. Okinkowski (Dr. Shwedel’s associate) for about 3 years now, and I’ve always had excellent experiences. I’m squeamish even for a standard cleaning, and I would’ve been more than glad to pay for the nitrous, but it’s pretty cool they gave me the nitrous for free. I love that the doctor and the hygienists are very good at telling you exactly what they’re doing every step of the way. Some of the procedures may not sound so «fun», especially if you’re there for something other than than a cleaning, but it’s better than being surprised when the dentist comes at you with a tool that buzzes (i.e. a drill) without you knowing it. They don’t lie when they say it’s virtually painless. I’m sure the gas helped, but since it doesn’t knock me out completely, I can tell it’d be virtually painless if I didn’t use gas.
This office really emphasizes on accommodating the patients as much as possible. The staff offers you coffee as soon as you walk in. You’re given a remote for cable TV as soon as you sit in the chair and have the option of borrowing an mp3 player. The hygienist always puts chapstick on your lips during procedures so to make sure they don’t dry out, then you get to keep the chapstick. You’ll always get a toothbrush and toothpaste. You even get a flower as you walk out, basically rewarding you for being brave. It’s the little things that that makes an experience go from good to great!
I also love that the office is so in tune with the technology today. In addition to the standard reminder phone call for your appointment, you can get a text and/or email instead. It embraces social media, and the office is full of top of the line equipment.
Seriously, this is the best dental office I’ve encountered. If you’re looking for a new dentist for whatever reason, go there! You get rewarded for recommending people there as well. Obviously you don’t have to, but feel free to use me as a reference. ;-) Please don’t think I’m writing this review so I can get references, I really like the place that much.
