Specialties

We make everything the old fashioned way. No burger hits the grill until you ask for it. Serving: Ostrich Burgers, Angus Bugers, and Teriyaki Bowls. All drinks served with flake (shaved) ice. Add vanilla or cherry to add a flavor to the drink. Serving Tehachapi since «1956»!

History

Established in 1956.

First fast food restaurant opened in Tehachapi. Store first opened by Mr & Mrs John Cash and many owners have switched hands from 1956 to 2004. Mr. & Mrs. Alex Lee have operated the restaurant since 2005 and many upgrades have been made to this historical site in Tehachapi. No previous owners have made better improvements than the current owners. New parking lot, new neon signs, and fully renovated dining areas. Best of all, nothing hits the grill until the orders are made like the old traditional way. Upgrade menu with Teriyaki Bowls and Mexican food.

Stopped in after hiking Tehachapi Mt trail famished and had an Ostrich burger! Great experience, lean and tasty and they wrapped it in lettuce because I’m Gluten Free. Cool vibe and music, thanks!

One of the best pastrami sandwiches I’ve had. The bun is perfect and the pastrami is perfect. It has a bark on it like truly smoked piece of meat should have. I really haven’t tried anything else on the menu so I can’t speak for them but I strongly suggest trying this place if you’re a fan of pastrami.

First off the ranch is awesome and you get a bunch of it with your fries! We were a party of 4 and received our food pretty quickly. The burgers were great and chicken tenders were juicy and not overly breaded. Would recommend if passing though stopping for lunch.

Man! Talk about dam good burgers and service! I ordered myself a ½ angus burger meal and my wife had herself a cheese burger with avocado. She is picky when it comes to burgers and she liked them too. Everything was cooked fast, good ingredients, fresh, the patties were juicy and the fries crisp! Well priced, clean joint, excellent customer service and well priced for good burgers.

Nothing special to see here, folks! The food here tastes like the The Burger Spot looks from afar –boring. It can be decently satisfying at times and entirely horrible at others. Inconsistency is its middle name.
The new young female cashier was VERY tuned out. She took forever to get our order down and after checking my husband’s military ID, totally forgot to give us the military discount. Her mind was definitely floating in space somewhere lol.
My husband ordered the pastrami burger (which he usually loves), but today it was greasy and burned. I also would never recommend the beef taco. It was bland and boring –I’ve had microwave burritos that have tasted better! The jalapeño poppers, fries, and ostrich burger are probably the only things that are consistently delicious.

I had never been to this place and figured why not give it a try as options are very limited in this town. I had seen bad things about the place on facebook but I wanted to try it for myself. Everything I saw online was all prerty spot on. The place may not look like much on the outside but it is just as bad on the inside. The fact that the people working behind the counter were wearing flip flops really creeped me out. I ordered a burger and chili cheese fries, total was almost $ 10. Not too bad untill I get my order and it becomes obvious everything was frozen and came from costco. I will never understand how this town has such a hard time getting onions on chili cheese fries. looking at you primo’s. Anyway this place is really just a little league snack shack with more toppings. This town is really lacking in good restaurants, only about 3 worth a damn and burger spot is not one of them.

Stopped in for lunch on a nice rainy day thinking I would have a great nostalgic meal, to my surprise they were out of my favorite items. Not just one or two but several. So I tried something new (Carne Asada tacos). They were flavorless! The meat is not seasoned at all which is uncommon for Carne Asada. I like getting the garden burger for the flavor but it has changed to all mushy bean patty. Which was not satisfying. They no longer have the ice cream options they used to so that’s sad. I didn’t want any but the fact that they don’t have the variety is sad.
The whole place gives off a vibe of going down the hole into being shut down. They should just give a new owner the opportunity to bring back the awesome burger spot that this place once was

I downloaded the Unilocal app just so I could post this review and I wouldn’t usually go out of my way to complain but it was that bad. I ordered 2 large fries, 2 sodas (different brands), and 3 burgers — $ 19. For that price, I expect at least good quality. The fries were obviously frozen prior to them going in the frier, and that’s ok as I know most places use frozen French fries but these were so undercooked and soggy. The buns on the burgers were soggy — like they had been dipped in water prior to slapping them together. And the drinks, both flat. Both meals could have been tossed as they tasted like garbage. I have grown up in this town and Burger Spot was my favorite burger joint, but after this, I refuse to go back. Not sure if they sold and got new owners, new cook, or just didn’t care today but it was terrible and they lost customers.

Burger spot! Definitely a different place! The name falls short for what it really is, I went here for their famous ostrich burgers… Yep Ostrich!!! Let me tell you they are amazing! And the coolest part is the are from a local ostrich farm that provides the meat for them. It’s cool but the down fall in that is that they ru out of meat… we went around 10am on a Monday and they only had 2 patties left… Fortunately that’s all we needed. But customers came in after U.S. Wanting ostrich burgers too, and they left because again they were out of meat. I will say though since our bodies are not used to eating ostrich meat (at least not mine lol) your stomach does not take the meat well after ward. Also this place is very small again whole in the wall. And don’t go here just expecting burgers, they have everything. Literally tacos, salads, chicken strips Everything! I do recommend it !

Stopped in for lunch while driving across the state. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but they’ve got quite an elaborate burger menu. I got the guacamole burger combo, and it took about 10 minutes, which is quite reasonable for a freshly made burger. The burger was quite tasty, and came with krinkle cut fries which was nice too. Much cheaper than Burger King (down the street), and worth it!

good food and good service for the most part. They have a jukebox but I wouldn’t suggest to use it because they also have their own music playing. We played a song and had it drowned out when the worker turned up the volume on their country music because they didn’t like what we picked

As local «greasy burger joints» go, this place is awesome. I stop every time I go through town. My favorite is ortega burger. They use florvorful ortega chilies and not the hot chiles a lot of other places use. They have crushed ice and pepsi products which is my favorite. The fries are nothing special just burger joint fries. Fried zucchini is good and not soggy. The chili fries are THE BEST!
Chicken taco is just a fried chicken strip as the meat was disappointing. Carne asada tacos are great. Very tasty carne asada. The carne asada burrito was disappointing, for the price i would have likes to see more meat in it. Teriyaki burger was pretty good.
I was very disappointed with the milkshakes. I was expecting smooth creamy and rich. The ice cream has quite a bit of water content vs milk/​cream so the milkshakes are almost slushy.
Overall this is my favorite burger joint because everything tastes fresh and not greasy.

First off I tried to use the Unilocal coupon from checking in and got denied. Got some story about the former owner putting it up and the new owner not being able to take it down. Then I tried to get a western bacon cheese burger w/​o the burger patty. The chick behind the counter was thoroughly confused. I said never mind and ordered a blt combo. Told her I wanted a diet Dr Pepper as it was on the menu. She said they didn’t have it, then changed her mind. Got my watered down diet whatever after waiting 5 minutes.
The food was just ok. I won’t be coming back.
