After retiring from teaching, my niece and I opened Idy’s Restaurant in Tehachapi where I daily made all the desserts and rolls, made cinnamon rolls on the weekends. After selling the restaurant, I opened my own bakery, Linda’s Cakes ‘n Things and quickly outgrew the small building on Tehachapi Blvd. and went into partnership opening the Tehachapi Culinary Studio.
At the Studio, I helped with catering and continued to bake all kinds of desserts and cakes but the hectic pace of larger catering jobs began to be too much. So thanks to the Home Cottage Law passed by California legislators in January 2013, I am now enjoying a more relaxed environment where I can teach my classes and bake all my cakes, desserts, cupcakes, pies, specialty cookies and candies from home.
