TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, RUDE STAFF AND BAIT AND SWITCH.
Just like Nicole A. and the previous reviews, we had a technician come to our house. She treated my daughter, which took longer than the hour. No problem. THEN, she screened my second daughter, which took 15 minutes. We bought a $ 25 comb to continue combing ourselves. They then charged us $ 240 for the comb and 2.25 hours of treatment. My wife called to get it rectified and they only refunded $ 47.50, stating that the screening took more than a 15 minute limit. Not cool. I then called to ask for the rest of the refund because we only had 1.25 hours of treatment and one screening ($ 25). The «manager» Janey was super rude saying that their technician reported more time than she was actually here for and they do not give refunds AND that it states clearly on the estimate that there is an additional charge for screenings that take more than 15 minutes (I printed all documentation and NOWHERE does it state any of that). When we agreed to the initial service, and to this date, there is no verbiage or terms that say there is time limit or that there can be an added charges on screenings. It seems that it’s their business model to over charge their clients and then fight it out on the phone. If I was aware that screenings were more than $ 25, I would have chosen a different company, because there are many out there that are less expensive. Total bait and switch. The total that they owe me is $ 22.50. I guess I will have to spend money to bring Shannon to small claims just so she will find out that it’s not okay to treat customers and maybe in the future, she won’t be unscrupulous in her business tactics.

Excellent service, provides great peace of mind. Made the hour drive to Temecula because I had a friend who battled lice in her children’s hair for months. I didn’t want to go through that, much less search for each and every nit in my daughter’s long, thick hair.
Going here was a big learning experience — you don’t have to pick every nit out! You comb, and comb, and comb! Or you go here, and they comb for you! They recommend combing at home for 7 (or 10?) days following the initial appointment. During our subsequent combing, we didn’t find a single thing!
About a month after our visit, my daughter was very itchy and convinced she had lice again. We drove out again, and got good news — no lice, just dandruff! They had gotten 100% the first time around!
And you don’t have to freak out about your home environment. They gave lots of guidelines of what to do at home. Based on what they saw, they figured my daughter had lice for nearly two months, yet my son and I were lice-​free. So don’t freak out, just get educated!

I thought that I got all the nits, but they were still in my kids hair. Nit Picky uses a special enzyme that actually unsticks the eggs from the hair shaft.
So relieved to find this place. It cost $ 100 for a full treatment and I got a mini treatment for $ 25. I also bought the enzyme spray to use at home. They recommend combing hair with a nit comb everyday for a week after service and using olive oil at night. The staff was friendly and knew their stuff — it took me hours to pick nits out of my daughters hair and I still didn’t get them all. They do a much more thorough job.
Nice, clean salon too.

Sadly, i have nothing redeeming to tell you about this company.
1^st: they qouted me one price and charged me 35% more (an extra $ 100 more). They have ignored our phone calls and emails.
2. They advertise the louse buster but actually dont provide it. THey said recently they chose not to offer it.
3. However, their speialist said she has never used one. She also did not spend much time (was in and out in less than an hour — we thought we had the issue solved but were not totally certain so this was more a piece of mind check/​comb out — though they charged us nearly $ 300 for one hour. No equipment. The gal said she should work in the light near a window and then when the specialist came she said that was not important.
4. We were very nice, hospitable and sent the specialist with drink and food for the road home. We were thus even more shocked to not even have a courtesy phone call for follow up especially when we called and left messages. I was paying for a service and didn’t need to play host too but i did. I cant believe the owner has acted so unprofessional and not even had the courtesy to resopnd to our questions and concerns.
If you are thinking of a service, use the other one in the LA area that guarantees, though it seems like it will be more pricy it actually turns out to be the same price becaue nitpicky does a bait and switch. They also have no guarantee and are unprofessional.
Overcharge, advertise one thing do another, explain one price based on time and then switch it to per person thus increasing the cost but not discussing this or responding to customer… idon’t waste your time or money here unles you want to be ripped off!

Unbelievably thorough, professional and NICE! Grateful to the team at Nit Picky, particularly Sierra (sp?) for the attention to detail and amazing service given to my 6-​year old. Would definitely recommend to others. Thank you, thank you!

I was extremely disappointed!!! The woman who did my child’s hair did less than i did when combing out the pesky critters and did it in less than 45 minutes. She insisted her head «was totally free» and that I had done a «great job». My child’s school has not yet started this year and she had no exposure to any other child yet within 24 hours her head looked just as it had when we went to Nit Picky. We also washed every sheet, pillow case, blanket, towels, clothes anything she touched almost immediately. We covered all furniture that she used and washed the coverings daily. No other family member has lice. Does anyone have a suggestion for the next step?

My family and I were recent struck with the lice bugs and their pesky little nits. In all of my life I have never had lice nor have I ever seen it so it was shocking to find it in my son’s hair. I was trying to convince myself that it couldn’t possibly be lice, that just wouldn’t happen to us and then I found the living bug. Ewe, nasty! I’m a super paranoid momma and lice is definitely a phobia of mine, so even after I tried treating me and both my boys with over the counter product, I was not convinced we were in the clear. Basically I didn’t sleep that night but I was slightly comforted when I found this service on-​line. I called them the soonest I could the next morning and they were at my house by noon. Ashely showed up to my crazy house hold and was kind enough to nit-​pick all the nits and lice from the three of us. She was awesome! She reminded me often that these were just bugs and they weren’t harmful but rather more annoying due to the clean up. She taught me how to check my kids and properly use the Nit comb. She also taught me how to take care of my own hair. If Ashely wasn’t nice enough, the Nit-​Picky customer service was amazing as well. I’ve never been treated so kindly and felt so cared about by a customer service rep. She answered all my questions and called me back to follow up and make sure I was ok and there were no further issues. I feel so lucky to live in an area that works with Nit-​Picky. I highly recommend them. But word of caution, there is a variance of remaining eggs/​bugs so while the services gets out almost all if not all, you do need to do your part for the rest of the week to ensure you don’t get another outbreak. I checked my kids everyday after for the week and I’m now putting the lice check into our weekly routine. I’m also doing the same for myself. You just never know what you’ll get with kids.
Another word of advice, the comb they sell on the Nit-​picky site or by the rep is amazing. The combs that you buy at the store just don’t work well. Hope this review was helpful.
