Run For Your Lives 5k Zombie Run

This run was SO much fun. They start you out in a little tarp covered area– it’s dark, crowded, hot and a bit creepy but also oddly gets you super pumped about starting the race. The zombies don’t show up for a little bit, I think they wanna give you some time to get started running, or perhaps just lull you into a sense of security.
You run for a bit then start hitting zombies – skinny, fat, slow, fast, stationary, hell-​bent on taking your flags – there’s definitely not just one type of zombie which is nice, it keeps you on your toes. SAVE YOUR ENERGY. I’m not a great/​fast runner but I hauled ass when I saw a zombie chasing me– you’ll immediately regret running up that empty hill.
The obstacles are awesome. Some are pretty intense, there was one where they fog up this little makeshift hut and put live electrical wires inside (it’s pitch black in there, and they’re more like a shock, but the anxiety will make it feel much worse). There’s also one where you have to shawshank yourself through a mud pit. When we went through it there was a worker at the end spraying everyone down with a fire hose – seriously had an Andy Dufresne moment, it was magical.
Remember, your flags are your lifeline. I almost made it through– lost my last one about ¼ of a mile from the end. There is no shame in hiding it, I mean c’mon, like there’s rules in the zombie apocalypse?
OH and dress up! It’ll be more fun that way, and they’ll probably take a shit ton of pictures of you.
SO AMAZING. DO IT.

I had so much fun! I had run this course the previous weekend at Rugged Maniac and was super excited to run it again. It’s an amazing course. On par with Irvine. I had signed up to be a zombie cause it was $ 20, and afterwards you get to run the course for free. The only thing I hated about it was working as a zombie. The runners are SUPER AGGRESSIVE and one literally socked my friend in the face as he tried to pull her flag. She was ejected from the course immediately so kudos to the staff. I wound up breaking my finger on a runner 30 minutes later. But hey, all in good fun right? I still ran afterwards! The obstacles were super easy, and I wound up finishing the course in about 54 minutes. I had gotten knowledge of taking the wrong way in the beginning so I was lucky. Camping was a blast, even though it was cold! I would totally do it again, but I received an email from them stating that they had moved the course to Glen Helen this year, and sorry, I ran that course last year as well and its terrible, so I think I’m skipping this year :(But I already signed up for this years Rugged! And then got the email today saying that they moved it from Vail Lake to Lake Elsinore Motorcross way… sigh…

This was probably one of the best days ever. I had so much fun! The days training for the race and during… it was a blast. I have nothing to complain about cuz it was so much fun. The adrenaline rush was indescribable.
Get on Facebook for the event… it makes the days leading up to the event more exciting. Get there with plenty of time. Go in a group. Try to stay with the group. Don’t run when there’s no zombies around. Watch youtube videos of the event to know whats up. Watch the Walking Dead to get pumped up. If theres someone in your group that already has their flags taken, use them as a guard. Bring a change of clothes, including undies and socks and shoes!
Do it! It was the most awesome challenge.

great experience… fun…great location… and lots of zombies!

Loved it… fun run. The obstacles aren’t super challenging… but the zombies are killer! haha… and some of the volunteers are intense! They will really come at you, but not in a too aggressive, they might hurt me way. I’m not a sprinter so getting through those zombie zone were way tiring!
This time it was in Temecula and the trail was smooth and wide, but had some hills and dips so that’s a little extra challenge, as opposed to flat running.
They had a few pleasant surprise along the course… i won’t disclose b/​c that would take the fun out of it.
There weren’t any bottlenecks b/​c the obstacles aren’t hard.
Water stops were good and they didn’t run out of water.
Only complaint I have is how they set up registration and how expensive it is. The run itself is one thing. But just to be a spectator you had to pay like $ 40?or so? Just to sit around on grass… the booths there were OK but nothing worth paying money to see. :(my poor bf. Registration could be a little better… *Tip*…come at least an hour early for registration (not including parking time and such). Lines were long and slow. I got there about a little more than ½hr early and baaaaaarely made it to my heat. Sending out waivers and picking up registration packets elsewhere before hand might be a better set up? Unless i totally missed something.
Clean up was easy b/​c there was this huge lake there and that’s where they directed you. I don’t know how clean it is… clean enough I guess? Considering you just slugged through a course of mud and dirt anyways. You don’t have to worry about running out of water and having to get into your car all muddy at least. But who know what the next venue will have and how they will set up the clean up station next time.
*Tip* Sign up early if you want to be a zombie… That looks fun too!

Overall it was okay — certainly beter than some of the other obstacle races I’ve done.
PROS:
— Perks. Free shirt — more useful souvenir than a medal. Free bag check.
— Bands. They made an effort to entertain people — and I appreciate that.
— Zombies. The whole idea is AWESOME — and it was pretty well executed.
— Scares. I gotta admit, being chased really gets your adrenaline going.
— Cool vibe. People in costumes, people wanting to hang out, people having a good time :)
CONS:
— Expensive. Why are these races so damn expensive? It’s just dirt, water, wire and wood. Even spectators have to pay just to sit around and wait.
— Obstacles. They could have had a lot more. It was mostly running up and down giant hills. The first ½ mile was straight up.
— Injuries. Lots of potential to get hurt here — actual barb wire, electric fence wire and rocks hidden in mud — expect to get scratched up pretty good.
— Parking. Confusing to find the right lot, not enough signage.
— Hike. It was a long hike from the parking lot to the race area. Kind of inconvenient.
— Survivors vs. Infected. I busted my ASS to keep a flag and cross the finish-​line as a survivor, but it didn’t even matter, no one cared. No prize, no special medal, no acknowledgement of any kind :(
— They close the sign-​up too early so that friends can’t sign-​up a few days prior, but when you get there you realize there’s no point in doing so (all they need to do is sign a waiver, pay the fee and run)
— Showers? Nope, you had to wash up in a lake.
TIPS:
— Safety in numbers, don’t get too far ahead of the pack — you’ll be easier to pick off.
— Keep all your flags in the back. I learned this too late and lost two before getting wise. If they’re in the front it’s easier for zombies to see and grab them!
— Feign fatigue. The zombies will think you’re already infected if they you’ve given up. This will allow you to sprint away at the last second ;)
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
I did it once, but probably wouldn’t do it again — well, maybe I’d come back to be a zombie if I didn’t have to pay to do that as well…

Keep in mind this isn’t an obstacle course where you can pace yourself. Some of those zombies were FAST! I was too busy running away from them that I forgot to get scared.
Unfortunately I left my friend to die and went ahead (she’s a walker aka ‘dessert’… I’m more of an impatient mid-​runner aka «entre’). I died on my 3^rd mile :(
We stayed in Lake Elsinore and showed up two hours before our wave (8:30am) as suggested. Did a mini-​hike from the parking structure to the event. Got in line to fill out forms and pick up stuff and register.
Luckily my friend and I signed up for the 2^nd/​3^rd wave of the first day so the mud water and the lake wasn’t as dirty. I heard that people started getting rash outbreaks the next day. It’s probably because they didn’t clean themselves with clean water and was in the sun all day post race.
The zombies were awesome and the runners had a sense of humor. We all ran in groups so the zombies won’t target just one. The next day I walked like a sore zombie because I went through all the obstacle course.
con: pricey and i ruined my shirt :(I safety pinned my number on my chest and that tore my shirt when i dragged myself under barbed wires and electric fence.
Best to go as a group with a theme.
Also recommend staying in a hotel the night before and explore the city :)
2013 Zombie run will be in San Bernardino and they will have 2 different kinds of medal. One for survivors and another for the infected zombies.

What? People had to pay to be zombies?! That’s pretty tough work, I mean, runners just have to sprint past the zombies but zombies have to make a run for the flags wave after wave, groups after groups.
Anyway, we were the regular civilian runners. Maybe it was because of the rain, we arrived early but there was a backup so it took quite a while to get registered, go through ID check and finally get to the starting line. That, on top of the walk from the parking lot to the event venue.
Because of the backup the organizers let runners join any wave they wanted to. We got there just in time as the entrees in the 11am wave was moving off. Didn’t know the difference between appetizers, entrees and desserts till I was reading Tiffany Y’s review. Now, I’ve done my training on flat ground and wasn’t expecting terrain. A lot of people just walked uphill and conserved their energy for zombie encounters.
The first zombie encounter came pretty soon. We thought that wasn’t too hard, people quickly strategized and charged as a group so most got out with their flags intact. Up to the first water station we were doing pretty well. At this rate we thought we could get out pretty safe. Or so we thought.
Then came the first mud obstacle, which we survived. But greeting us was a field full of zombies. We had at most 6 – 7 zombies before but this was a whole field of them. I almost survived this but just before I got to the safe zone my flag and butt got grabbed by a zombie. Came to a maze. We all thought there were going to be zombies hiding in the maze but nothing. When we came to the end of it there was another army of zombies.
I don’t even remember where I lost the other two flags. I just have muddy recollections of a whole string of obstacles — the dark shack with electric wires, a mud crawl under barbed wires, walls that I mostly skipped since I’m pretty vertically challenged. Came to the water/​mud slide and thought that was the end of it and we were cleaning off. What do you know… another group of zombies waiting for us as we made our way out of the pool. The whole time I can’t help marvelling at how my brilliant husband was able to escape them all despite a knee injury. And then more zombies, and then some.
I thought only survivors get a medal but a staff handed me one at the finish line, so I took it anyway. No washing zone so most people just jumped into the lake to clean up. Yeah pretty nasty but it was either that or the mud.
Now I really envy those people who had fancy cameras and gears so they could take loads of pictures of the race and with the zombies. We didn’t have a single picture with zombies since they were within the race area.
Did we have fun? Yeah it was awesome! Would I do it again? Probably not this or any other mud runs since we got one of those nasty rashes.

I am writing this review from the perspective of being a Zombie. 3.5 would be my score if that was an option but I am being generous as I think this idea terribly fun and I must reward on that. Plus I do think they will work on making it better.
Anyhoo, I was a Zombie just 48 hrs ago on the early shift and can barely move. My wrist and one finger are sprained, I am covered in bruises and every limb, my ribs and back are killing me. I am a competitive yet currently out of shape chick who am paying dearly for capturing about 50 flags. WhOO HOO! As mentioned the concept is fabulous.
However, I must be honest in my review so here goes. The parking people are clueless as can be-​We showed up Sat evening so were obvious CAMPERS yet they tried to make us park in the day spectator lot which would require us to lug our camping gear 1 mile. Lucky, we ignored them and scored a sweet spot up close next to the camp. We still do not know if it was the correct spot but it should have been. 1 STAR FOR PARKING!
There was no one to greet the overnight Zombie or runner to give us our wristbands so we could take part in the festivities. Luckily, with much schmoozing we figured it out. Everyone you ask has NO CLUE! They say not to bring outside food and beverages-​but everyone did which is fine with me but that sucks for those of us that followed the rules as we had to eat their yukky food. 2 STARS FOR FOOD-​all unhealthy!
There was only two types of beer Coors and Blue Moon and if you drink their beer you are forced to stay in this fenced off area-​no fun. The so called Apocalypse party was a few bad bands on a stage with no one paying much attention. The real party was simply next to peoples tents-​So bring a group of friends and party there and you will be fine.
They said no fires but people brought portable pits and the workers said nothing. Again I liked the fires but wish I smuggled one in too. The worst thing was the Saturday runners/​Zombies partied till 3am and the Sunday Zombies like me got no sleep. Another HUGE bad thang was online they sad we Zombies would get snacks and drinks in the Zombie tent. Well I was told coffee would be there and there was no coffee!!! Now that truly is an APOCALYPSE!
Ahhhhhhhh!
We had to get up at 5:30 am and were given bad pretzels, chips and bottled water and where expected to work our Zombie 3+ hour shift on that-​because they said NOT to bring food! They should have told us that was the supplied nutrients and we would have made time to eat and buy coffee-​I must digress and say I chewed out a guy in charge pre-​coffee and he did give me a cup to shut me up. But the false/​no advertising on exactly what the snacks were is bad. I nearly fainted chasing down runners later on as I don’t eat chips.
Also, my BF had his nice shirt shredded for the event and the worker NEGLECTED to inform him that they had shirts already shredded he could have worn and he could have saved his. Luckily, my worker told me so I had a choice. The makeup and wardrobe process was overall pretty good and people looked fantastic! But the cleanup process after the race was a joke with one cleanup stand and NO RUNNING WATER for 100s of Zombies. 2 STARS FOR A FEW BAD WORKERS, POOR ORGANIZATION, AND LACK OF DISCLOSURE. 4 STARS FOR MAKEUP AND WARDROBE AND 5 STARS FOR CONCEPT AND SOME WORKERS SHEAR COOLNESS.
In regard to the race. As a Zombie you are part of the obstacles the runners have to go through. Our job is to pull their flags they wear around their waist. I found many people cheating by tying their flags or wrapping them or tucking them in and others would just hit us Zombies or basically tackle us while we reached for the flags. 5 STARS FOR ENTHUSIASM OF ALL ZOMBIES, BUS DRIVER, ZOMBIE HERDER!
Now granted I grabbed many a crotch that day but it was all accidental as I reached for flags. The runners deliberately caused some harm to people-​especially to the little Zombies like me. I think this should have been better regulated as I smell lawsuits left and right. No I don’t do that. I know what I was getting into!
In closing, I would like to say I did have a very good time and found the workers friendly although clueless. The price to be a Zombie was very fair and the perks pretty darn good. The main changes I would make are being upfront in the perks, allowing people to bring in their own food cause they will bring it in anyway, having a curfew for the Sat Zombies so Sunday participants can sleep and supplying CAMPING parking passes so us spending the night can park closer. Also do talk to the runners regarding beating up the Zombies.
Ouch. It is Advil time again.

*grunt, grunt, stumble, argh* BRAINS. But, this race is pretty much all the tough fun of the Spartan Run with the video-​game like urgency of surviving zombie «attacks» in between each obstacle. In my opinion, a much better and more fun version than the Spartan Run. You may be able to complete Spartan Run, but can you stay alive as well?
That’s pretty much the extent to which a zombie retains it’s vocabulary and ambulatory drive. At least stumbler zombies. Zombies DO NOT talk outside of that range. There are no «hybrids» (as the assholes in my group claimed to be while talking to runners), and the zombies aren’t supposed to tackle runners (again like a certain group of assholes in our zone). I’m happy that some «dead» runners applauded Christine A., Brandon D. and I for being proper, lumbering, scary talk-​less zombies.
As far as a costume, I got the idea for a zombie TSA officer from having been employed with the TSA before. Not having a uniform – since we surrendered them all upon leaving – I scoured the web for both reference images and patches. I found everything online and at convention. It was odd how accessible it all was. Anyway, sewed up a white shirt with epaulets, created a dorky DHS badge and proceeded to rip up the shirt. Arrived in costume, checked in and waited to be «infected».
Aside from a mild lack of information, the «infection» process was very straightforward. We didn’t need a picture ID, despite being told we would many times online. Checked in and herded into the bag check area, and onto costume change. They had a few select ripped items in case you didn’t bring any and even offered to rip and destroy your own items. I didn’t want my shirt mutilated beyond recognition, so I only had them mar up my shirt sleeve. Then, based on whether you were a Chaser (faster) zombie or a Stumbler (slower) zombie, you were moved into either sweat-​resistant makeup or non-​sweat resistant makeup. All in my group were Stumbler zombies, so we progressed through the assembly line style makeup process of airbrushing, paint-​flicking and wounds/​blood. Very good quality professional makeup. Quite pleased with the result. (

Then we moved onto bloodening. They scoop blood out of a bucket and throw it at you, after they spray «mud» on your clothing. It was quite gooey and cold and fun. We waited while the rest of the zombies were completed, given instructions, met our group leaders and were given water and snacks. Then we walked out to our various stations across the track.

I have a few complaints. The «Race Officials» didn’t really do anything to either stop the five zombies in our group that were being very aggressive against runners. Nor did the really do anything to stop runners from being overly aggressive towards the zombies. They really didn’t do much other than radio when someone was hurt (as they should do anyway).
Then they both ditched us with another two hours to go and there was no replacement official. A few of the zombies in our group kept breaking character (smoking breaks, checking phones, talking to runners) and breaking rules (tackling runners, being overly aggressive), but no one seemed to care about stopping that. And several of the runners just plain cheated when it came to their life flag. Quit being a little pussy and stop protecting your flag by hiding it under your shirt or stuffing it in your crotch. Plenty of others got past us on tactics, moves and speed alone. And the First Aid tent was the farthest tent from EVERYTHING, and required you limping your way to it (if you could still walk). I heard plenty of race officials telling runners to «walk it off» while they were escorting them to the tent.
Other than that, I just really disliked our five fellow zombies at the top of our zone. But, overall, I had a really good time. I captured twelve flags myself, got a few good pictures, and managed to have a good costume tossed together for Halloween and conventions. I look forward to doing it all over again next year, rain or shine.

I went as a spectator, because while I really like zombies, I’m really not that into running. Paid $ 10 to park (unless you had a Subaru!), and $ 20 to get in to the venue — wasn’t worth it.
It was a long walk from the parking lot — about a mile each way — but it was fun to listen to the people who had been on the run talking about their experience.
The venue was an open field next to the lake. There was bad music playing, overpriced souvenir t-​shirts, overpriced beer.
Main problem: not really any place to watch the race, except the start — up the hill — and the finish — down the slide — and the people washing up in the lake afterward. Would have liked to have seen some of the actual interaction.
That said — sounds like it was probably fun if you actually did it.

Great «run», great thrill.
This run is really different from your regular fun runs and monotonous ½, full marathons. You’ll dress up in costumes, find yourself taking nice breathers during the course and sometimes completely breathless sprinting away from zombies.
The venue was about a 15 minute walk away from the parking lot. It was nice and muddy, so you get sort of a preview of what’s to come. Once you’re checked in and all that official jazz — get your stretch on and have fun.
The course was practically hidden as it was high in the hills. It wasn’t predictable so there were surprises almost at every turn. There were several obstacles and they were placed closer to the second half of the course. Most of the obstacles don’t require you to be physically fit, but if it’s too challenging, you can skip it. You’ll be jumping, crawling, swimming, dodging and be doing some other surprises. You’ll get dirty to the point where washing yourself in a dirty lake is «refreshing.» Pack extra clothes and check ‘em in.
The zombies were great and really add another dimension to the run. Aside from running towards the finish line, you’re running away from the zombies. They had creepy. convincing makeup and costumes, and really played the role well. There were some zombies that just stood in place, some that moved laterally, and some that will give you a nice chase.
The run could have used a tad more zombies and could have added more «depth.» For example, there’s about a 200’L x 20’W section with about 15 zombies. 10 of them were up in the front 30′ or so, so once you clear the first half, you can rest a bit — jog and clear the last 5 zombies. If the zombies were to place themselves 1 every 10′ or so, you’ll have no time to rest and it’ll make the section more challenging to clear.
This run was really organized. Almost everything from the check in, to timing, to entertainment was on point. They could have used better descriptions for the directions, but other than that, it was smooth.

This was my first marathon — ish run that I’ve ever attempted.
Our wave was 10 am on a Sunday, but the registration line was so long that we just went into the shortest one (by last name) and checked into there. The lines for registration were so long that the organizer didn’t care which wave people ran in, you can run in whichever wave you want.
My friends and I chose to run in the appetizer section (meaning that we were the first ones to run the course in that wave) next was entrée, and then dessert.
We should have chosen entrée so that the zombies would be more tired from the appetizers.
The beginning of the run started with a ¼ mile run UP HILL which makes you so tired before you even see any zombies.
I hate sprinting, I can run miles without stopping but suck at sprinting. I don’t think you could do this if you cannot sprint and are not fast.
The first group of zombies was placed at the TOP OF THE HILL. right after you are so tired from going up the hill in the first place.
I got my first flag taken away after the 2^nd or 3^rd group of zombies (the people you are running with are your friends) there is no way to make it through the whole course by yourself unless you are fast and know how to maneuver your way through. I did not attempt to dodge any zombies, because I knew if I did I would eat shit.
The first half of the course doesn’t have any obstacles, they all start towards the last ²⁄₃ of the course.
There were several mud pools, mud ditches, soft lump mud ditches, an electrical shock house (my friend grabbed one of the wires to shock himself on purpose to see how much it would hurt), mud slide pool, barbed wire you must crawl under, electrical fence you must crawl over, and zombies all along the way.
I have no idea what Derek P.‘s review is talking about when he says the course could use more zombies, there were more than enough zombies to me, I was in tears mid way through the race, I am really scared of zombies and would punch all of them if it would help me win. too bad you are not allowed to hit any of them.
3 stars because I don’t think that this race was worth $ 82. especially when people PAY to be zombies, and you are charging $ 10 for parking as well.
They give you a jersey, medal, and a free beer at the end, but I think that $ 45 would be a more appropriate price.
Tips: Be prepared to sprint!!! Zombies are placed everywhere, and when you think you have passed them, there will be more up ahead.
Wear knee pads if you don’t want bloody knees from crawling through the mud.
Wear tight fitting clothes so you aren’t dragged down.
Don’t wear clothes you care about, they will be destroyed.
Don’t attempt this if you are not at least a little bit physically fit, or you will definitely pass out from over exertion.
Be prepared to run 4 — 5 miles, because of all the sprinting you are using alot more energy than 5k.
If you are scared of zombies (like me) and think that this will help you overcome your fear of zombies I encourage you to do it !!! I am a little bit less scared of zombies now. bahaha

I write from the perspective of the zombie.
The zombies weren’t hired hands. We were regular people who paid to be the flag-​stealing undead, much like the runners were regular people who paid to take on the course.
Make-​up was an efficient assembly line where each person airbrushed on or applied another coat of paint, mud, or wounds. After which we were directed to stand in front of a blood-​splattered, white plastic curtain where mud was sprayed on our clothes and a guy took as much coagulated movie blood as he could cup in his hands and threw it at our fronts and backs.
Sufficiently bloodied and disgusting, we were briefed before being sent to our zones.
«OK, zombies. The runners are the good guys, and you’re the bad guys.»
We all happily grunted and groaned.
«Those runners are trying to make it through this race with at least one flag, and we’re seeing way too many survivors. Zones 1 – 4, you’re only taking one flag. If they only have two, let them go. Zones 5 – 8, you’re taking their second flag. Zones 9 and up… YOU’RE KILLING THEM!»
Yours truly was placed in Zone 12, one zone away from the finish line. My friends and I were downhill of those dueling, rusted dinosaurs, which most people thought was the end. Then they saw us and began to curse.
There’s no sweeter sound than that Velcro coming apart, severing flag from belt, and I managed to «kill» 12 people. Most of the runners who came through were already flagless.
At least half of the runners I encountered who still had flags were hiding them under shirts, kept them rolled up, or were holding them so we couldn’t grab them. Being in character, while trying to grab flags, I did get slapped and punched by people as they charged down the hill, trying to get away from me.
To those people who kept their flags out in the open and managed to out-​maneuver me, especially without resorting to hitting, I salute you. You played the game right, and you deserved to live.
During our briefing, we were told to remain in character, to ONLY go for flags, and to not trip or tackle runners. If a runner fell, we were to help them up, make sure they were OK, and THEN go for their flags.
Shamefully, the zombies at the top of my hill were rough, shouting at runners, and frequently out of character. Most of them were bear-​hugging, shoving, and yanking down runners desperate to grab flags, and this kid who couldn’t be any more than 15 or 16, kept yelling, «BLOOOOOD!!» at them and then shouting down at me, «HEY HEY! GET THAT MORTAL! HE STILL HAS THREE FLAGS!!» If runners told him, «Zombies don’t talk,» he always answered, «Nyaaah! I’m a hybrid!!»
I was astonished. Those other zombies frequently smoked while runners were coming through, talked on their phones, or were sitting down at the base of the dinosaurs eating chips and drinking water (my friends’ and my water included since we came back to empty bottles). Near the end of the run, they just gathered on the other edge of the hill, where runners were coming from a mud pit and just shouted, «HEEEEY, get up here! We want our free beer already!!»
Outside of all that, my friends and I had a good time. Put together the three of us grabbed a few dozen flags.
When we saw people without flags, we still just stumbled about and swayed from side to side, and they STILL tried to run to avoid us even though there was no point in us chasing them. When this one runner toppled down the hill — her foot going all the way through and out of the toe of her shoe — I came over to help her up and she freaked out and screamed, «AHHH! Get away!!» Multiple people fell onto this cactus that was near me, but just got up and kept running.
When my friend took this one guy’s last flag, he fell face down into the dirt. «I hope you’re happy,» he said. «You just prevented the cure from getting to the end.» He and his friends, good sports as they were, were dressed as CDC employees. «Well since we’re dead, it’s picture time!» they declared, and we proceeded to take a few with them since no runners were coming.
It was a nice gloomy day, still got sunburned when the sun peeked through the clouds, but I loved the cold and gray sky. We were the last shift on the last day, and it was nearly dark when we were done.
The staff were helpful when it came to getting some of the make-​up off (and got me an ice pack for a swollen finger at the end), but I wound up still covered in the paint and blood, which was really hard to get off and just went home and watched the new episode of «The Walking Dead» before jumping in the shower.
If I did this again… yup, I’d still be a zombie.

I can’t catch my breath. I’m all alone. My bf save me by sacrificing himself to the horde. I just went under the electric fence and I’m left with one flag. Oh shoot, there’s two zombies that’s eyeing me. I better run for my life.

Great 5K! This run was a blast! It was tiring, muddy, intense, and extremely fun at the same time!
Would I do this again? YEA!!!
The zombies looked great, and definitely did their part trying to make the run tough. There were pocket herds of zombie packs, zombies hidden in bushes, and zombies in mazes. They were all over!
And then there were the obstacles. None too bad, except the ones where you get electrocuted. Yes… electrocuted. Those were the ones totally caught me off guard. Not the sliding around in mud, the pools of water, or the things to climb over.
But I wouldn’t have changed it. It was awesome.

FUN!
Will definitely be running the race again next year. The obstacles were challenging and fun. Loved the zombies! Loved all the obstacles!; walls, maze, shock house, and the slide!
I wish there was more organization in the event. Directions to the event were unclear, we had to ask at a local gas station. Parking was also horribly organized, the spaces were not marked and participants had to look for their cars for a long time after the race.

Great event, the race was fun and it went by fast.
My only wish is that there were more obstacles on the course. Also, it would help if parking areas were marked better. There were a lot of people walking around at the end looking for their car. Luckily we parked next to the entrance so we found our car pretty easily.
There were enough water stations here which was good, (one at every mile) and there were lots of zombies making a grab for your flags.
I would probably do this race again next year. It was pretty well planned, and the race was painless. (Except for the tiny cut on my knees from the low crawl) :)
