George Carr, DDS & Associates

I was referred to Dr. Carr’s office via my girlfriend. Not only is he cool and down to earth, you can tell he genuinely cares about his clientele. I had an appointment to have a tooth extracted, a procedure I had not yet had to experience. After consultation we decided we actually needed to remove 2 teeth! Not only was he quick but I felt zero pain. I mean even the novocaine shots were painless and that includes a shot in the roof of my mouth which royally sucks. His staff: Betty is warm and knowledgeable, goes out of her way to help and explain anything. She even called my insurance company on my behalf to work out coverage etc. His assistants are all very friendly and welcoming as well. His office looks and smells nice, and everything felt very comforting. Highly recommended!!!

From start to finish this was the best at ever. Super friendly staff very caring and explained all parts of my treatment very well. I liked the advanced technology they use and I also liked that I was given a few options for materials that could be used. Thank you I look forward to a long patient/​doctor relationship.

These guys are fantastic. Great tooth work — to — conversation ratio in this office. Honestly, think about it. That’s a very delicate balance to maintain. Done just right and your dentist trip is lively and joyous. A little too much or too little conversation tho and everything falls by the wayside. Your appointment is ruined. Heck, your day is ruined. Not these guys tho. Both times, we have had riveting small-​to-​medium talk while my mouth gets worked on. And obviously they do a fantastic job. Just look at my teeth.

My younger brother found Dr. Carr years ago. He shared him with the siblings. I was so lucky my brother was willing to share this find, because I have been around the dentist block.
I have some pretty blinged out teeth (gold crowns) and I favor chewy candy. That is not always a great mix. Dr. Carr and team are always so nice when I come in with something I have pulled off* (Milk Duds, Hot Tamales are no longer part of my candy choices) and he is honest about the work that needs to be done on my teeth.
The front desk (Beverly previously and now Betty and Nancy) are always so polite. They have been able to pop me in recently after I had a crown done (went with porcelain this time– gonna miss my gold!) and it needed a teeny adjustment to fit. And did you know that they make porcelain crowns in office, so I did not have to walk around with a temporary on for weeks?! It was magic.
My teenager now goes to Dr. Carr too. He has had a ton of crazy dental work previously and actually reminds me to make his appointments for yearly checkups with Dr. Carr to manage his upkeep. Dr. Carr is direct and honest about what needs to be done. And doesn’t push braces onto me or my child. Dr. Carr treated my child like a person– discussed the work he wanted to do and how to handle the baby teeth. My child made a dental decision based on his interaction with the dentist (and me) but it helped that there was no baby talk, just honest interactions.
So yeah, I recommend this dentist. I have and I will again.
*I am admittedly horrible to my teeth and grind– not poor crowns– poor owner.

Dr. Carr was my dentist while I lived in AZ. Besides me thinking he was a fantastic dentist back then I am reaffirmed each and every time I visit my new dentist here in Newport Beach, Ca. Besides the routine cleaning and teeth maintenance, Dr. Carr put veneers on 8 on my top teeth. And they were beautiful then. And almost 12 years later, they are just as beautiful. My current dentist and hygienist tell me each and every time I am visiting them (today for example and I moved here 8 years ago) that I have beautiful teeth and that whoever did my veneers did the most beautiful job they have ever seen! The shape, color, margins, and quality are superior. And coming from a dentist who does veneers himself, I would consider that one of the highest compliments another dentist could receive! Thank you Dr. Carr! You are fantastic at what you do!!!

As far as dentists go in AZ, it doesn’t get any better than this. Great doctor, state of the art equipment and a staff that makes it all run smoothly. You can’t go wrong!

Dr. Carr and his team really have it down. From my first to last interaction, they have made going to the dentist a breeze. I haven’t been to the dentist in probably six years or so and I decided to use my dental insurance (finally) and get my teeth cleaned. I made an appointment same day and they got me in and had me in and out the door in about an hour and a half. Felt like just the right amount of time and had no wait to be seen. I had some more work that I needed done so today I went in to get it done.
The numbing process for the fillings was short and pretty painless for the most part and Dr. Carr and his assistant worked quickly to get me all filled up. I truly couldn’t ask for a different experience and for a person that doesn’t like the dentist, they sure made this a better experience!

I’m super happy with Dr. Carr and my dental experience! I have always been a fan of the dentist and having clean teeth yet when you are sitting there with your mouth open it can be awkward! The staff made me feel at ease and walked me through everything that was going on in my mouth.
Dr.Carr was super informative during my exam. I really appreciate that he took pictures of my teeth/​fillings and educated me on what his recommended treatment plan is. Extra perk that my 10 year old daughter was there to see and Dr. Carr was teaching her as well! Great experience! Will recommend!

Dr Carr office and his staff are amazing, professional and caring people. They make you feel comfortable all are polite and so helpful. Dr carr and his staff give the best dental procedures and best options that work better for you, after your procedure is done, they call tomcheck on you to see how you are doing, I love this place and his staff and his work, best dentist I ever had, go check him and his staff out, you wont be disappointed, I love this place

Dr. Carr and his whole staff is great! I have absolutely nothing negative to say. They are all professional, friendly, caring and knowledgable — his office is up to date with the latest technology, which I found impressive.
I discovered him through Unilocal a few years back after not having been to any dentist for about 15 years. Since then I’ve had many procedures: cleanings, cavities filled, long overdue wisdom teeth extractions, a root canal and a crown, to name a few.
I’ve always been made to be very comfortable when in the chair and any nervousness has gone away quickly as his staff really cares and listens.
After each major procedure, I received a call from his office a few days later to check to see how I was doing. I’ve not had any issues and pain has always been minimal. After many of the procedures, I’ve actually been surprised at how easy it went and recovery was a breeze!
I have only had great experiences at Dr. Carr’s office — they get 2 thumbs up in my book!

Right before Christmas, about a year ago I hit my tooth when I shot a shotgun and it was about 4pm and Dr Carr’s office was the only one who would see me. He was great and so was his staff. I recently got a crown from him this past summer and it looks amazing. Comparing it to the one I received at Southwest Dental is night and day. The one I received at Southwest Dental took 4 tried to get it right as they order it out like an auto part whereas Dr Carr makes it right there at the office. I was stuck with a temporary Crown at Southwest Dental for 4 months. Also Southwest Dental crown looks like a mushroom cap on my tooth. It looks big and bulky and terrible. Dr Carr’s you can’t even tell I have one. I was treated like a number at Southwest Dental and Dr Carr’s office is the complete opposite. My biggest compliment is they are very understanding with me scheduling. I’m on call at work and never know when I can make an appointment and their manager Nancy always tries her hardest to get me in even if it’s a days notice. I really like that. I highly recommend this office. I’ve had nothing but a great experience!

I went to George Carr on a mission to have a straighter and prettier smile. I went the Invisalign route in the past with a different dentist and my teeth were straight but they weren’t as even and «perfect» as I wanted. I then decided to go ahead and advance my smile with veneers. George Carr did a wonderful job and and couldn’t be happier with my results. I love the shape and the color turned out very natural!
The George Carr Team is very professionals and attentive. From the moment you walk in and are greeted to the time spend with the dentist you can tell they really care about their patients.

It is hard to expand on what has already been said, so I will just say that the staff is amazing and extremely professional, caring, and more than willing to answer any questions you may have about a procedure or treatment that is needed. Also, when one of their hygienist was out ill, they found a sub within 30 minutes, so I did not have to reschedule my appointment! That alone was a sign that this office actually values my time as much as theirs, which is a huge indicator of professionalism.

Dr. George Carr and his staff made me feel welcome the moment I walked in. A big thing stood out is I didn’t have to wait at all. The assistant I think his name was Chris helped me immediately and explained everything on detail and the ladies at the front desk were very nice and patient with me. Dr. Carr then saw me shortly after and took time to really explain my options with my last remaining and rare baby tooth. I think the best part though was they didn’t put any pressure on me to have them do the work. Because of all this I will definitely be going back to get my work done!

Hmm. I guess I’m an outlier, but I figured I should let others know about my less-​than-​stellar experience here.
I’d been seeing the same dentist in north Phoenix every six months for three years before moving to Mesa, and was worried I wouldn’t find anyone I liked as much. But I was encouraged by the positive Unilocal reviews for George Carr’s office so I made an appointment for a cleaning and exam.
At my final appointment with my old dentist six months previous, I was declared free of cavities. Then Dr Carr examined me and gave me a list of about 10 things I needed fixed in my mouth.
I allowed him to work on a couple that he had listed as the highest priority, but when I left that appointment it just wasn’t sitting right with me. How could my last dentist have missed all that stuff? Dr Carr was condescending when I asked him that, and it really felt like I was being shamed for the condition of my teeth. I take really good care of my teeth, so this was a first for me! (Oh, this reminds me: different staff member even tried to push orthodontia on me, which is almost laughable: I have ONE TOOTH on the bottom that is almost imperceptibly crooked.) Anyway, I ignored all of their calls and emails (trying to set up additional appointments to finish the other 8 items on the list) and waited out the insurance-​required 6 months until I could get another opinion with a different dentist.
Long story short (ish), the new dentist I just saw yesterday said that I am cavity free and that I don’t need ANY work done. Sure, there are a couple of little spots he wants to keep an eye on for the next several visits, but nothing that requires immediate work. Some of the old fillings that Dr Carr said I needed to have replaced were just showing signs of staining, not the decay Dr Carr had assured me was eating up my teeth. I’d had a feeling Dr Carr had been overly aggressive in his treatment plan, but I wasn’t expecting to have SUCH an extreme conflict of opinion.
There was a lot of other weird stuff, too. Several Unilocalers have mentioned Dr Carr’s off-​putting bedside manner, which I didn’t think would bug me, but it really did. He’s cold, abrupt, and infuses his interactions with a healthy dose of shaming. And I observed a couple of things that seemed to demonstrate that he intimidates his staff. I don’t want to elaborate because I know he reads these and I don’t want to get anyone into trouble. He also used a dental dam while working on my fillings, which I have NEVER encountered. It was claustrophobic and almost dehumanizing.
Wow this is long. TL;DR — dentist is too aggressive in his treatments, and not very nice to patients or (seemingly) staff.
Also, they offer perks for positive Unilocal reviews… so. Take all of them with a grain of salt.

Ok so preface, I’ve travelled a lot and seen a lot of dentists in my life. I’m also a physician so I’m pretty hard to please.
With that said, this place was simply awesome. It is a bit lost in a medical/​dental complex, but once inside… it’s amazing. Clean, modern, there’s bottled water and an Xbox set up.
The staff is so friendly and walked me through the paperwork. The dental assistants and hygienists used modern equipment, and walked me through everything they were doing. I typically hate the dentist, but I can’t stop raving about this place. Best dentist office I’ve ever been to.
I normally don’t do Unilocal reviews, but this place is totally worth going to, and I found out about it through Unilocal.I’m moving away to Washington D.C., but you’d better believe I’m scheduling my dentist appointments here when I come back to visit my family.

I’ve discovered the best dental office in all of Phoenix. Never have I had a more thorough visit to the dentist. Dr. Carr actually spent time with me and explained things very clearly. Not only that but he’s really personable and engaging. His staff is the icing on the cake! Beverly, the office manager came out to greet me and is incredibly sweet. Moro and Leah are fantastic! Super nice, thorough, professional and engaging as well. The technology in this office is advanced and I love how engaged you can be with them and the social media outlets they utilize. Overall, you can tell this office cares for their patients and wants to create a friendly and «family-​like» atmosphere to maintain that forever patient which I’m sure they have a lot of. Will be recommending this practice to everyone! Thanks guys!

Dr. George Carr is amazing! I have been coming to him for about 8 years now. Beverly handles the front desk and is possibly the nicest person you will ever meet! She remembers everyone!
The dental hygienists are always professional, kind and informative. They are engaging in conversation so its not you awkwardly sitting there while they clean your teeth.

Upon entering Dr. Carr’s office, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly staff. Clearly this dentist has assembled an excellent group of professionals who’s positive and upbeat energy truly made them stand out from all the others I’ve ever had.
Going to the dentist has always been a bit hard for me, but with this group — my stress levels immediately dropped due to the humor this staff has… fun, hip, modern and funny. I was impressed.
I had a pain under a tooth, I couldn’t really explain it well and was worried they wouldn’t know what or where… Dr. Carr could sense this and had me stand in this wild 3D X-​ray scanner machine that was super tech and super cool — he pulled it up on screen, rotated it, and zoomed in on the source of my pain (a small infection under a crown) wow. I’ve never seen anything like it.
They then sat me down in the chair and it was show time. I opened my mouth and their upbeat and funny social demeanor took a more professional tone in the dialog between them. It made me feel good, right then and there — I knew I was in the hands of trained professionals.
I heard the drill and started to tense up like I always do, but just as soon as I did, they relaxed me with a combination of smart humor and funny stories… Leah was the tech assigned to me, AWESOME. Ask for her… handling me is like defusing a bomb, she was such a pro. It was painless.
Never mind the incredibly high tech, state of the art equipment (which I must say was impressive) …it’s the people. This is such a great group of people. They gave me an entirely new outlook on going to the dentist.
Best dentist experience I’ve ever had.
