Juut had its beginning as Horst Salons when it was owned by Horst Rechelbacher, founder of the Aveda Corporation. Since 1991, Juut Salonspas have been independently owned and operated by David Wagner and his wife Charlie. Juut maintains a close relationship with Aveda Corporation and exclusively offers Aveda products and services.

Business Owner

David Wagner is a world-​renowned hair stylist, artist, entrepreneur, educator, author and «Daymaker.» In 1977, David attended the Horst Education Center to begin his career as a hairstylist. It was then that his long relationship with Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of the Aveda Corporation, began.

After graduation from beauty school, David began working as Horst’s assistant and followed by an upward move through many roles including stylist, salon manager and vice-​president of the organization. David and his wife, Charlie, now own Juut Salonspas in 10 locations in Minnesota, California and Arizona.

I just got the absolute worst haircut of my life. I had multiple pictures of what I wanted and what I ended up with is not even close. The length is way too short and the layers are all off. I didn’t ask for a difficult cut as it is something I have asked for, and gotten, at other salons. I went to this salon a couple years ago and my experience was fine, so I expected to have a similar experience this time around.
The chin length flippy style I asked for is instead a helmet. My husband has longer hair than I do now! It is too short for me to even go somewhere to have it fixed!
I am beyond upset and depressed as I feel like I have a cross between and old lady/​boy haircut. Not what you expect when you walk into a trendy salon on Mill Ave. I will never be coming back here again.

I am leaving one of the best salon and spa experiences ever! From the manager Audrey greeting me with a smile when I walked in, to Akash who I had my facial with (he walked me through everything and gave me the best facial I’ve ever had!), to Lauren checking me out, asking how my service was and helping me book another experience. I will definitely be returning!

I have been going to Juut (Mood Swings) for 8+ years continuously. I have been seeing Skylar for several years for my waxing and facial needs. She is always bubbly, sweet, and genuine. I consider her a good friend. I had Julez cut my hair 2 weeks ago and she is absolutely amazing with short hair cuts! She is so fun! Then yesterday I had Landis transform my whole appearance. I went in with salt and pepper black hair and with a huge help from Becca I walked out a confident platinum blonde!!! It’s my dream look and they helped me accomplish it and made me look amazing! I love the new Juut!

Cassandra was my hair stylist and she was awesome. I went in and showed her the picture of the hair cut and she listened to me patiently and gave some good suggestions and the outcome «I absolutely love my new hair cut». She also showed me how to style my hair without using a hot iron «extra brownie points for that ».

First time in today and had a great experience. I received a cut from Chloe and she did an amazing job. Will definitely be back everyone was very friendly and helpful. Can’t beat an Aveda experience.

I get my bleach and tone done with Taylor. She is the best with blondes, and is all around amazing!!! Chloe has done my cut; she is wonderful too. 10⁄10 would recommend both of them for whatever service you are looking in to.

I am on vacation for a week and walked in to treat myself to a blow out. The whole experience was wonderful. Great customer service at the front desk from Lauren and another girl at the end (didn’t catch her name, but very cute and funky red hair!) Taylor was my hairstylist. She started with a brief and relaxing shoulder and scalp massage. Then washed my hair, laying down on a sink bed. This is so much better than sitting and leaning back! Taylor blew out my hair perfectly and was very easy to talk to while I was in her chair. I highly recommend this salon. I’ll certainly come back next time I’m in town. Thank you ladies!

I used to love this salon until they changed hands. The service is not as personable, my hair stylist changed since she went to hair cuts instead of color. Now you have to pay way more to see a color specialist and a hair cutting specialist. This salon has an upstairs and a downstairs. The upstairs is light-​filled, soaring ceilings, the downstairs was just a spa, now they have hair services down in this area. They have stuck me down here, cramped and unattractive, I don’t care for it at all. I have been an Aveda lover for over 10 years, but I am finding a new salon… did I forget to mention how pushy these people now are? Every time I go in they are trying to up-​sell me on not just one but multiple products. Not to mention they are giving me cards to try to push my friends in here. No thanks!

Love Chloe! Such an amazing balayage. I have fragile/​dark brown hair, so it’s really hard to get any kind of blonde result that doesn’t clash with my roots, but she melted the colors effortlessly! Just finished my second appointment with her. Would recommend if you have delicate hair.

They have a great diverse staff. It’s a large salon, two floors. It has a great vibe and atmosphere. Clean, sleek.
I was oh so very lucky to find Cindy a senior stylist. where has she been all my life? Cindy understands what I want, she listens, and she’s objective and is oh so very knowledgable… and so fun to talk to!
On random occasions I will come in just to get my hair washed and to clear my head. I love this place. It takes me an hour to get here but it’s so worth it. It’s so relaxing… I fall asleep nearly every time. To visit juut in Tempe is an escape for me. I am sensitive when it comes to my hair. I have very thick curly hair and i haven’t felt this comfortable in a very one time. It was difficult for me to find the right salon/​stylist. I’m so glad I found this salon.
Random Tip– park on 5th street. It’s the closest and safest place to park if you cant find a spot on mill. I usually go at night… which is an interesting time down there. ;p

I went in to Juut about 4 months ago when they had recently changed from Mood Swings. Since I saw they have a new page and no reviews, I figured I’d leave my review from the old page they had! here it is: Ok wow. from the moment I walked up the stairs, so confused as to where to check in, Dana was right there to greet me so warmly. right after check-​in, I was offered cold water. (and it was.) and Dana met me with a huge smile. I knew at that moment, it was LOVE! we spent the WHOLE time talking, no awkward silence, no artificial questions. we got down and dirty. personal as ever. ugh, I loved listening to her, she was just so funny and sweet, I forgot I was even getting my hair cut! it flew by! what an amazing woman. God, I love her. I will be back, and like we said, I can’t wait for this relationship to blossom. THANK YOU SO MUCH DANA! oh and not to mention, for an advanced stylist, the price was f — ing AMAZING! wow. LOVELOVELOVE.
