Phoenix Marriott Tempe at the Buttes

Staff was friendly room where clean. The big issue I had was that I’m here for one night and TV was pixelated or channel would not work with no signal and then Internet was slow and they said I had option for enhanced Internet which didn’t give me the option also the box where you can connect to hdmi via etc. Also did not work. I called and they send me to some international tech support and they didn’t even know what was in the hotel. Went to reception and they said they would send someone out to my room and they never did went back to reception and and they said it guy was going to work on and for the whole day and night none of worked which is horrible. Reason for the update review and why I will now come Saturday here going forward us dona the manager on duty was amazing she went above and beyond and she really cared about what happened and took in everything I said and fixed it. Thank you dona for being amazing and because of you u will be coming back and staying here.

Best resort Ive ever been to. Not even kidding. This place is a hidden gem. 5 stars about everything!

So I just recently stayed here as I found wonderful reviews, but I may say I didn’t have this experience at all. To start out we got to our room and the bathroom door didn’t work. I called down ti the front desk and they had maintenence come up to fix. GREAT! Except my wife and I were there for our anniversary and this guy was in our room for 1 hour + to fix it. I also purchased the «wine and dine» pkg. $ 50 credit for dining at «Top of the Rock» and 2 free premium drinks (I think that is what is called) and with that same call to front desk I asked them about this, how it works, as I got no voucher or anything to give the restaurant to assure we got those discounts. The woman don’t worry just heaved it out on your room and then we will know to take it off. I later found out this was incorrect and I had to fight to get this corrected upon check out. NOW THE WORST PART… the next morning we wake up around 7 am and u wake up to a scream from my wife as we have COCKROACHES crawling on our walls. There were several in our room which made us leave right away.
OMG, WE WERE JUST MORTIFIED THAT AN ESTABLISHMENT CHARGING UP TOWARDS $ 200/​NIGHT TAT THERE ARE HUGE COCKROACHES.

Very scenic setting room was very nice. Staff was very very nice!
My room was OK, bed was comfortable was not especially quiet. Liked the complimentary bottles of water. Charming for WiFi is crazy then having it not work most of my visit well it was very disappointing .
But it is also expensive to stay here, but they have everything, Food was good and service was great.
There are a lot of good things some bad, overall, not a bad place to stay

This is our second time staying at this hotel and we love it here! We can decided to stay here for the amazing pool/​outdoor facilities they have! This hotel looks like a very serene and relaxing resort with lots to do within the hotel itself. We checked in with Cheryl Amundson and had a great check in experience. She helped us by answering any questions we had and offered us recommendations when we asked about things to do. The rooms are a little dated, but still are well kept. We had breakfast & lunch at the market café and had an enjoyable meal both times while enjoying the beautiful scenery. This is definitely a great place to stay if you are in Arizona!

Enjoyed the 2 night stay at the resort. Staff was friendly and always willing to help. Room was nice, comfy bed and clean.
The two pools are nice. The specialty drinks range from about $ 8 – 10, however does take quite a while to receive drink and food orders but not a far walk if you wish to order at the bar.
Only minus was on Saturday at about 2 o’clock, they close down one whole pool to accommodate a wedding, which made for a very crowded afternoon with only one side open.
Overall would stay here again with no hesitation

We planned to stay two nights here but changed our minds shortly after checking in. It’s a fairly small property and the «lazy river» is about 20 feet long. Bed is comfy… pool bar closed at 7 on a friday… room could use some updating (popcorn). We’ll try something else on our anniversary weekend staycation. **no kids!!!**

we decided to book this hotel for our weekend getaway from Tucson, we have stayed here before but never had the chance to enjoy the accommodations this hotel offers. The hotel in itself is very inviting and open. the architecture of the building was built into the mountain. Upon entering the lobby the front desk is situated near a stream of water behind the front desk. The pool is fairly large with two big areas and a small lazy river to connect them. There was a water slide and three to four Jacuzzis that seemed hidden on the next level of stairs above the pool. The Jacuzzis had great views of the city. Waiter service at the pool is somewhat slow but seeing the staff hustle up and down the stairs makes it understandable for the wait time on food and drink orders. They offer free coffee by the elevator and have a Starbucks in the market café. I felt super relaxed and loved the accommodations of this place, the husband and I plan to come back again soon.

The property is very beautiful. The rooms are decent but I was very displeased. I think they use microfiber sheets, which do not breathe! I was here on a work trip with 5 other individuals and they all said the same thing, they woke up sweating profusely! No matter how low you put the A/​C you will sweat and then when you take the blankets off you will freeze. It was very unpleasant. I tried to look up the fabric makeup but the tags were removed from everything.

Hotel itself is nice but lacking in many conveniences. There is no concierge lounge for Elite members. Rooms are very basic and almost cheap looking. During my stay at hotel there were serious internet connection issues. Fitness center is small with dated equipment.

— buffet options are limited and food is mediocre

The shower in our room filled with water in the mornings. There’s nothing like stepping into a shower filled with two inches of another persons dirty bath water. The pool seemed really inviting, but there were not enough chairs and the service was terrible so eating at the pool meant waiting an hour for a beer and a hot dog. With some room upgrades and maybe retraining the pool bar staff this place would have potential.

Plusses and minuses. Decent hotel for the money if you are on a family vacation! Don’t book for a business trip unless you don’t mind kids running up and down the halls and hogging the buffet stations.
The pool is great but there is not enough seating for everyone. Rooms are clean and spacious, but there is no movie channel other than basic HBO. We tried to download a movie on my laptop instead. The special audio/​video hookups provided in the room didn’t work, so I had to bypass the box and hook directly into the tv… even then the video quality from streaming from the Internet was poor. Forget about asking for help. The staff seems to get frustrated and make excuses whenever you raise a complaint, rather than finding a way to help you. The bar service at the pool is atrocious! Someone needs to train them on hospitality, especially since we give them a tip for everything!
Don’t book here if you are expecting a quiet and serene get away. Although the scenery is beautiful, you can hear the nearby traffic from the interstate, and most of the rooms surround the pool, so expect to hear the kids screaming and the live band planning all day. Oh, and about the live band, somebody please tell him to play softer more relevant music… leave Lynyrd Skinner, AC-​DC and Van Halen for garage!

Very bad! My brother came in for weekend and I just tried to call and send a bottle of champagne to he room. They said they had to send me a fax authorization and then I had to fax back before I could even buy and send to his room. Pathetic! Don’t stay there, that is ridiculous. 0 stars

I had the option to stay anywhere in the Tempe area and chose the Buttes. I stayed here each week (give or take a few weeks) for 6+ months.
The staff is very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Anytime I had a problem, they were quick to resolve it. The property is well maintained. I always saw employees cleaning. They are also courteous — one night a cow escaped from a trailer on the highway (hard to believe, I know). The next morning, an apology was under my door explaining what happened and that they apologized for the noise. I didn’t hear anything and I had a room facing the highway, but it was a nice gesture!
The rooms are clean and comfortable (the air condition works really well). I would definitely recommend the Buttes!

I would give this between 3.5−4 stars because the property is lovely and decorated nicely for Christmas. Lights everywhere high on the hillside. The room is also nice and clean. Two full beds with a desk/​sitting area. Small fridge and coffee pot with complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water. I got a great rate with the price match guarantee so it was worth it for the discount alone. Plus, toiletries smelled amazing and rooms were very private and quiet.
What I don’t like: they charge $ 10/​day for parking, whether you self park or valet. Ugh. I would have been pissed if they actually charged us, but the check out bill did not include the parking fee because the property is open so I don’t even know how they would know if we had a car parked there or not. Second thing, the hallways are very heavily sprayed with deodorants and air fresheners so it’s does smell musty because they are enclosed, but it’s almost so strong it’s sickening. Lastly, no free wifi. They charge between $ 11.99−14.99/day for wifi. Ah, no thanks.
We didn’t eat at the property or utilize any amenities, like the pool, so I can’t comment on those.

Easy reservation and check-​in process. Two complimentary drinks upon check-​in was a nice surprise, and bonus. Room seems nice, and the property is beautiful.
Unfortunately after the compliments drinks, we had to wait awhile or go inside to order our own drinks. I am willing to pay for the rest of our evening, come take my order. Unpleasantly surprised!

Booked a weekend conference here with 200+ #WellArmedWomen The Buttes is a nice little resort hotel with rooms that are very clean and comfortable. The food at the Market Café was good as were the lunches and dinner we were provided over the weekend. I’d definitely stay here again.
There were a few minor areas of opportunity. For our first breakfast here, they weren’t prepared for 200 women (although I’m pretty sure they could count the reservations for the weekend). The line to pay for our food at The Market was way too long for women that had to be in a conference on time. But they adjusted and Sunday was much better.
I realize this is a desert, but I would never have expected scorpions in one of the rooms. Maybe there should be a friendly reminder about that being a possibility. It would also help if they could provide something to help with scorpion stings. So basically, wear your shoes even in the room and maybe pack some Benadryl and a black light.
Also, the stairs from the main lobby/​conference area to the rooms could use more lighting. It was difficult to see some of the steps. But the steps give you a lovely view of the city, the mountains and the pool area during the day.
The issues were minor and it was still a great weekend.

First and foremost, the service here is over the top spectacular. It is very apparent that they pride themselves on customer service at this Marriott; they should be billboard models for the way customer service should be executed the correct way by Marriott standards. I was astounded that EVERYONE from the valet to the front desk associates, to housekeeping, maintenance crews and pool side team members all greeted me with sincere «hello’s» every single day. They all wore proud smiles and represented Marriott the Buttes exquisitely. One morning as I was exiting the building, a gentleman, who I presume was a part of the engineering/​maintenance crew asked me how I was enjoying my stay. Wow! That was enough to make me want to extend my stay further. And, I should note, I was guest at this lovely hotel for 7 nights.
This is by far one of my favorite places to stay when my choice is to reside in Phoenix versus Scottsdale; my choices very slightly when my visit is on the Scottsdale side. First and foremost, the service here is five-​star an absolutely spectacular! Liz check me in and was quick to acknowledge my status as a Marriott elite member. I always love when Marriotts to go out of their way to spread the love to their elite. I also enjoyed being parlayed to my room following The golf cart. I was placed in a beautiful room on the second floor of the resort side slightly facing the pool. Mind you, there is no room at this resort with a «pool side view» there maybe two rooms at best with a slight view. That said, I believe I had the best room at the resort. Why? First, it had the patio. Here the patios are slightly shared, I’ll be it, and a resortlike saying. I also loved that I could look up and view the pool-​side umbrellas and poolside ambiance. I also let that only had to do was simply walked out of my room and out to my favorite pool which is more on the «adult side». Last, loved that they place me close to an elevator and plenty of parking.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the pool area. Everything about this place is spectacular, but that it is tucked into the Butte in a resort like setting with waterfalls in a waterslide is just fabulous. I will always be loyal guest here.
Downsides are definitely the lack of dining options and proximity to nearby restaurants and eateries; there is a Taco Bell, WhataBurger, and Rally’s near the hotel; none of these places are my cup of tea. I branched out further to the ASU area, the Mill St. Corridor for good eats. For lunch/​sandwiches pass up Jimmy Johns and subway and head to Ike’s — highly recommended. Marriott the Buttes is not in in the best area. It’s definitely not Scottsdale with Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Fashion Square. However, the moment you take a turn into this resort you’re instantly transformed into an oasis.
I absolutely adore this place and you will too!

It’s in a great location for local activities and the airport. There’s no reason for you to leave the grounds!

There’s nothing bad to say about this place. The price is right for the conveniences available. The landscaping is breathtaking and you can’t take enough photos to exhibit its awesomeness!
I read a review that said the rooms are dated, however I think the room design matches the decorum of the property. Besides, as nice as this places is, you won’t spend much time in the room anyways!
Breakfast was right on point, fresh sweet fruit, buffet style, fresh omelette station and other heathy options are available like cereal, oatmeal. For the meat eaters there’s plenty of bacon for you too!
This is a property you can’t right enough review about. It has to be seen to believe how great it is!
