Solo is by far my favorite place to visit on my days off. The jasmine nectar latte is amazing iced or hot and I could drink it for days!

Found this place a few weeks ago on my walk. It’s a few miles from the hotel towards the back of a barber shop and serves fantastic lattes. The people are friendly and service is great… The Hunter S Thompson mural is really cool!!! Highly recommend.

Cute, small coffee place that has a variety of coffee drinks and pastries. Only downside is no coconut milk!

It was so beautiful outside so I decided to walk here opposed to getting in the car and hitting the dive thru. The atmosphere is everything you would want in a coffee shop, cozy, quiet, smells amazing. It is most definitely where I will be heading next time I need to unwind and sip on my coffee, start my day off slow.

Best. Iced. Coconut. Mocha. Latte. Ever. This place is a gem and I plan to use Solo Café for a lot of my meetings… just so I can have that mocha :)

Solo Café has held a special place in my heart since 2+ years ago when I first walked through the front doors with my friend for a coffee. I was a recent transplant to the south Tempe area and Solo was within walking distance of my new apartment. We grabbed a couple of coffees, then found ourselves a seat on a comfy old couch and played chess. I loved that. One of my favorite memories. The ambiance was gentle and welcoming — it felt a lot like home, and I needed that at the time. Solo Café has changed a bit since then. It now shares space with an outstanding little barbershop, unlike anything else I’ve seen in the area. The old couch from those years back is long gone, but Solo has not lost any of its charm. Service is quick and they feature Cortez beans, which is always a solid local choice. I now live in North Scottsdale, but still make a point of driving all the way down there to get a fresh haircut, order a coffee, and relax for a few. Solo Café has become its own little community and I couldn’t ask for anything more. Love the coffee, love the people, love the artwork, love the setting. If you haven’t been — GO. You won’t be disappointed. Treat yourself to a kickass cut and coffee! :)

It’s all about great coffee, great personality, in a great setting. Solo got it right in all categories.

Funny that I just visited a coffee shop/car wash combo the other day and then I discover this coffee shop/hair salon combo. Yeah, it was a little different walking through the salon to get my coffee, but it works. Everyone at both businesses seemed pretty cool and their marriage of businesses seems to work well. And yes, the coffee was great and the barista was super nice. Not a lot of seating in this small coffee shop, but what they have looks cozy. The art work on display adds a nice touch. If you’re in the area and need a great coffee or maybe need your hair touched up, give this place a try.

From the coffee and customer service to their ambiance and style, Solo Café has got everything I need in a coffee spot. The coffee is great, the wifi is strong, and the people are awesome. Plus, I can get my studying done and get my beard trimmed, since both the café and barber shop reside in the same unit. It’s hard to find, but it’s worth it.

High quality coffee and tea drinks, with a cool vibe. Local and organic and natural, as opposed to corporate. Not amazing, but very good.

I think this is the only place with a spiced chai in tempe! I ordered both the spice and honey vanilla and neither disappointed. I am obsessed with chai tea and definitely solo’s and p. croissant are my top two now. I really adored the staff. Dropped my drink right at the door and everyone from the barbershop helped me clean up and the barista made me another drink. They are so kind and I feel valued. It’s very modern and cool inside. Love the décor.

Love it, been going for years. Awesome service, Awesome drinks. Helpful when you don’t exactly know what you’re in the mood for. Will mix up some teas for new flavor combos. Can’t beat the quick espresso shots, delish.

Checked it out on a Tuesday, late morning. Mostly barber shop with a small coffee shop in the back. Totally hipster joint! Met a girlfriend for coffee and some chit-chat. Approx 4 customers in the café, all of whom had already been served. I ordered a cappuccino. Waited about 10 min & then asked the barista, was given a little attitude, but then offered a free cookie since they outright forgot to make my coffee. The cappuccino was decent. Nothing special.

Ooooh noooooo… This used to be my very favorite coffee shop when I lived on this side of town! There was really great coffee, good people, and comfy chairs with games and books everywhere. Folks worked tirelessly on their computers… I even taught my niece to play Battleship over a hot chocolate and coffee! I guess the barbershop taking over the lounge area made the space more profitable?! Not sure on that one. At least the great coffee & nice people remain!

Some might say a lady is like an ocean. I wouldn’t say it, but some may. Hell, you call a lady an ocean, and I figure you are ’bout ready for a whuppin. Pssshhhh … some people Lady an ocean… the nerve. Maybe she makes your world move like an ocean, I remember, this one time, off the tip of India… I think it was India, could’ve been just my tip. Anyways… You ever go across this great land of ours? Not talking the desert, jus’ the United States. Some might call that a desert. Some would also say dessert. I like desserts. I just drove through Joshua Tree. Picture that, a guy driving through a tree; she did. But it is like a banana, you unfold the outside, to get to the sweet inside. Sort of like a woman. And like a woman, a banana can make you slip. But a woman’s slip… now there, there lads, there is a fine picture. A woman, a banana, an open field of waves of grain swaying in the wind. And an ocean. You need something to wake you up. Solo coffee shop will do that, and they can cut your hair. I haven’t experienced that yet. I need to experience more.

Good coffee, good relaxed vibe created by the barrister that was on. Don’t do flat whites. Embrace perfection takes time, as it does take a while for ur coffee to be made. They bring a few baked goods in daily. Didn’t try any but looked really good. Not great for big groups. I only saw 1 inside table of 4, all others for 2 or singles.

Wow the coffee! Amazing! You can tell it is high quality, skill and of course love. What some people don’t understand is that when you have a coffee made with love it is tastes amazing and when it is made in a hurry it tastes horrible and sloppy. This place is definitely amazing. I plan to come back as often as possible! — side note: it’s easier to find when you come though the back of the plaza or look for the barber shop with an espresso bar and there you have it! :)

I enjoyed the coffee and my husband was absolutely delighted with the shot of cubano especially because it’s rare for places to make it. Very nice barista, friendly and talkative without being intrusive. It was fun being almost int the barber shop and watching men get their haircut. Fun atmosphere all around.

I found this coffee shop through Unilocal as I was meeting some clients in the area. Location is good, but it was difficult to find the coffee shop as it located behind a barbershop. Seating is very limited with just a few tables. The service was slow and the coffee was good. I had French press coffee with a snickerdoodle cookie. This is a good place to go to meet a friend but not recommended for a business meeting.

So I’ve been coming to Solo for probably a few years now, and am trying to finally step up my Unilocal game, so here goes: Chad, the owner, is always in a friendly, helpful, good vibe kinda mood. I work in the service industry, and it’s not always easy to remain upbeat and happy, so I know how that goes. He’s always on his A-game, though, and I find that he hires really good-hearted staff as well. They remember your drink if you go in regularly enough, and they’re fast, but friendly… always ask you how your day is going. There’s really something to that, ya know? And not just the generic«how’s your day?» where the person couldn’t care less, but an actual genuine question that they want to know the answer to. The prices are great, right on par with a normal coffee shop pricing structure. You can get just about any coffee drink your little heart desires. They recently remodeled so as to incorporate a barber shop at the front of the store. Not gonna lie, originally I was a little bit weary/skeptical of this idea. Wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but honestly it looks REALLY nice, and I think once they build their clientele a bit more, it’s gonna be awesome! It looks super clean and the space feels a lot larger than it did before actually. I don’t usually hang out in coffee shops for extensive periods of time, maybe every once in a while I’ll drop in and read a book or play around on my iPhone for an hour or two, but not extensive, like I said… so I don’t think the smaller coffee shop space in back affects me greatly. I know other customers may have been unsure about that. All in all, I love this spot. Their spiced iced toddy is the ISH. A must-try.

I was looking for a new place to do some casual work on a Sunday afternoon, and was attracted to Solo by a photo on Unilocal(the one with sofa, armed chairs, cool interior and book cases, which I later learned was uploaded in November 2012) and its high ratings. My high expectation unfortunately turned into disappointment when I got there. The place is hard to find — what used to be its store front facing Baseline Rd. is now a barber shop. You can still access Solo from the barber shop; but I had to go around to the back parking lot and enter through a very unremarkable door tucked away among its surrounding stores that appear to be under construction /renovation as well. The coffee shop is only half the size of what it appeared to be in the photo. Needless to say, the nice furniture and cool decors are gone. I have no basis to talk about the quality of their drinks — I left without ordering anything as the place was not where I would sit down and spend my Sunday afternoon. Their drink menu seems to have a good variety, but not their pastries. Lessons learned: always check the date of Unilocal photos!

Thought I’d try a new coffee shop so I found this little place. It’s actually located 3 minutes from my place. I should have walked. The location is a bit hard to find but I got it. It’s actually connected with the barber shop so if you want to come get some coffee, latte, etc. and you’re in need of a touch up. Come down this way. It’s a bit small inside but seating is throughout the building and continues outside to a patio. It’s a pretty chic café if you’re into those classic coffee shops. It’s a Saturday and there is only one guy making drinks and on register so if you’re in a hurry I don’t think this place would be suitable. But if you’re looking for a place to hang out and you got time on your hands then this will work. I ordered an iced caramel macchiato with soy. The espresso in the coffee is Devine. I can taste every bit of the caramel and the espresso. Just made the wait worth it. Great service and great coffee.

I am so glad this place is so close to boyfriend’s place in Arizona. If you live by Kiwanis Park, this is a perfect place to stop by in the morning on a weekend. If you are trying to grab some good coffee before you head to work, I hope it’s after 8am because that’s when they open. Sad, I know. I wished they had opened earlier too. My favorite place to go to when we’re in Arizona. Friendly staffs and comfortable seats! Never really crowded here and I find it perfect for studying or chat up with your girlfriends. I really enjoy their Soy Chai Latte. Their lattes come in three types. Authentic, dirty and I forgot the last one but they will kindly explain to you what’s the difference. Seatings? There’s a comfortable sofa, loveseats and table chairs. There are games, books and maganizes. Feel free to bring your laptop, tablets and etc because there’s outlets and free wifi. Now I wonder if I’ll find another good coffee place in Arizona than this?
