Specialties

Here you’ll find a dedicated and experienced staff, all photographers themselves, who can offer you the personalized knowledge and face-to-face service that just isn’t available online or at the big box retailers.

We offer a one-stop shopping experience for all your photographic needs:

Our Sales Department offers both new and used equipment including cameras, lenses, video, lighting and darkroom necessities.

The Rental Department offers digital and film cameras, lenses and accessories, computer projectors for PowerPoint presentations, lighting and grip equipment.

The TCR Photo Imaging Center provides quality photo finishing, including mounting, framing, scanning and digital restorations. We are one of the few labs continuing to offer E-6 processing. We print on high quality, archival photographic paper, water color media, fine art canvas, super high gloss or metallic paper.

Finally, should you have a problem with your equipment, our Repair Department will provide expert advice and service to get you shooting again. We do sensor cleanings, and all estimates are free.

History

Established in 1972.

Beginning in 1972 as a one man camera repair operation, Tempe Camera has grown to include photographic equipment sales, rentals and photofinishing. We are one of the few businesses of its kind to survive the transition to digital photography. Our downtown Tempe locations at 606 and 530 West University are well-known Tempe landmarks.

Meet the Business Owner

Joe W.

Business Owner

There are few things as inspirational as the American Dream realized, and Joe Wojcich is living proof of it. Speaking only German and Polish, and from a poor family, he came to this country in 1951 when he was just four years old. But Joe learned, applied what he learned, and worked hard. Today the camera repair business he started in 1972 on a savings of just $ 1,500 is still going strong and has expanded to include photographic equipment sales, rentals and a full service professional photo lab.

Joe has no office; instead he sits at a workbench, repairing cameras along with several other technicians. His work has earned him an international reputation as someone who will take on the tough jobs nobody else wants, yet his main mode of advertisement is word of mouth. He specializes in retrofitting and customizing cameras and has designed lenses for the Associated Press and National Geographic.
